Hi guys why is there still quibbery going on? Mine will be arriving in the morning so If everybody likes I'll post pictures of how they are..
BUT i need to know right now if I should grab 1000W or 1200W supplies... I've read on a recent update its minimum 1000W... but I've seen requirements over 900 so is the minimum for slow speeds etc?
Whats the crack! If I get a confident answer within the next 5 hour I'll have the PSU to potentially have them working tomorrow eve.
Cheers!
Is it not two identical units that they ship (@ 520 watts each)? So you could use two 600 watt PSUs?

Each Unit in factory configuration is supposed to use 520w and there are 2 units to make the 280mh miner. So with that math I personally wouldn't use anything less than a single 1300W PSU, 1600W would be my preference though 1300w is around 78% utilized.

Thanks for the answers bud i'm guessing 1200 platinum is also an option to the 1300 too...

Ah - in the UK you would have 220 volt lines -- so a single high wattage PSU would be no big deal on your wiring.
While in the US -- putting 13 amps on a single outlet would definitely create a strain (unless you have 20 amp circuits) - since they are designed for 80% continuous loads.

IMO Bare Minimum - EVGA 1300W G2 or equivalent Recommended - EVGA 1600W P2/T2 or equivalent 2x PSU's is just decreasing your efficiency and increasing your likelihood of problems IMO When I get my A4, I will be using a 1600W P2 or T2

I would get a 1000, thats what they told me to buy if I get one. Please upload some mining stats when it arrives! Good luck with your miner!

For the EVGA 1300 G2 the difference in efficiency between 50% load and full load is only 3% or so. In other words, if someone already owns a high-wattage PSU - by all means, use it. But for a new purchase I'd say that e.g. EVGA 1300W vs EVGA 1600W probably isn't worth it.

I own 3 of the more expensive AX1200i's -- they do not run silent when you're running them near 90% power, the fan will be on during that time. Don't let the eco/fanless feature fool you if are considering that. the HX1200i will work though, not in the range I like to be in but not anything dangerous to run either. Depends on the PSU. For the EVGA 1300 G2 the difference in efficiency between 50% load and full load is only 3% or so.

Agreed, not much difference, just a preference on efficiency

Interested but need more info.
if these things will not come with PSU's will they allow regular ATX PSU's to be used or will it need to be specially made PSU's like the A2 used?
The A2 did not NEED a special PSU - I've got 2 of them running with Seasonic X-1250 standard ATX power supplies, one that came from Zoomhash with a 1300 watt gold PS in it that I don't remember the brand of and other folks have reported transplanting other standard ATX power supplies into them when the "included" PS died. They would WORK with an EVGA 1300 G2 but those didn't fit into the case physically without major "too cramped" and "pinch the wires" issues. X1250 is pretty close to SILENT running a A2 110Mhs Terminator at the max turbo mode and appx. 1200 watts draw from the wall - definitely can't hear it over the Deltas in the miner unless you put your ear RIGHT at the fan of the Seasonic. I do note that Innosilicon is SPECIFYING a 1000 watt power supply, while the A2s shipped stock with an 1100, which strongly implies that the A4 is lower power usage all-up than the A2. Using a 1600 watt PS should be a TOTAL WASTE of capasity and money (unless you already have it sitting around, of course).

Using a 1600 watt PS should be a TOTAL WASTE of capasity and money (unless you already have it sitting around, of course). The A2 does need a CPU style pin connector or you can plug in PCI connections with the last 2 pins flipped backwards. I have confirmed this with 2 of my A2 megas that I tried to put more efficient power supplies in. Perhaps yours are built differently? Mine are the Silver Models with 5 fans from Inno. Agreed in regards to the A2 vs Seasonic noise level. The sound comments I made were in direction to the A4, which is supposed to be much more quiet than the A2 was. Since no one yet has an A4 to compare or has provided a comparison, not sure how loud the psu fan will be compared to the A4. I was simply stating that at near max load my AX1200i's are on and in a quiet room, you can hear them. Some people want truly silent builds and consider the low whirr of a PSU fan to be undesirable. IMO: I wouldn't gamble on power usage, its better to have more than you need than not enough in any case. I disagree regarding the 1600 as the 1300 G2 would be running around 91.5% efficiency at 1100 Watts while the 1600 would be somewhere around 95% efficiency at the same power. In other words, do you want to waste 5 cents for every dollar you spend on power or would you rather waste 8.5 cents for every dollar you spend on power? Doesn't sound like much difference but it adds up over time.

All of the gold power supplies I've worked with are 1-2% more efficient near 50% than at 80-90%. It's not that big of a difference - you could save MORE by going to a same-size Platinum-rated PS (or comparable, Seasonic X-1200 Plat instead of the X-1250 Gold for example) and would probably pay LESS than by going to a 1600 gold from the same manufacturer. I DO recommend SOME "overhead" space for potential overclocking, manufacturing variences, and better reliability - but running at 50% is totally a waste of a lot of cost on the power supply. There seemed to be a bit of variation on the A2 Mega hash boards over time, but the pair I put X1250s into used normal 8-pin PCI-E connections on the hash boards, and a standard ATX-24 on the fan/control board. *ALL* of my A2s are 5-fan model, though one is a "long case" 88 and one a "short case" 110 with thin back fans. I have seen mention of some hash boards that used a "CPU-type" layout on the power connector - those had to have PCI-E plugs put in backwards to use a standard ATX PS. 1600 is NOT that much more efficient than the 1300 - the numbers you're citing would make it a Platinum challenging for TITANIUM level supply, not a gold. 92-93% MAYBE at 50%. It would take a LONG time to make up the difference in electric usage vs the additional BIG COST of the bigger PS in that case.

where do we buy these
go to innsilicon main page http://innosilicon.com/see sales below Chole and the sales email there contact them quick on wire xfer details and shipping costs to your area of the unit for the amount of units you need I asked 2 days ago the group buy is still in progress (3 units minimum at $1,800 bucks ) how long I don't know ..I'm passing for now on this got 6 Titans from the KNC liquidation....and the 45 day warranty is spooky too me..also too much equip depreciation this year on equipment will LIKELY get something in January if difficulty is not too nuts (or gonna be) in with IRS and equipment depreciation in 2017..it will cost me no more than now (but with diff rise by then...we will see) but anyway you put Bitcointalk Group Buy on the wire xfer for 3 at 1,800 bucks or $5,400 total and they figure your shipping from the zip code so contact them and see if they will still play tag at the group buy rate and such..as of Sunday I was told it was still in play again 3 is minimum order ...anyway I'd play 'tag' soon with them thou...I think this is gonna go away and they will go to $2.100 bucks each and 5 unit minimum I heard anyway as of Sunday this was good...but again gonna pass for now I guess (hard I do like the shiny toys with the whirly noises and the blinking LCD's don't ya know)
