The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

I'm also here in Florida. I've lived here forever and although I've traveled a bit, I would always keep this place as my homebase. Beautiful weather and friendly people (usually).

Anyway, I'm new to bitcoin. I find the whole concept exciting. Some of it is over my head, some of it is not. That's what's fun about new things - learning.

I enjoy writing, if anyone was wondering about my nickname.

Thanks for reading!

Wow, quite a few newbie posts over time on here!

Been doing IT work for 20+ years, can remember my first TRS-80 Model 1 and then commodore and Amiga's (I feel old now).

I've been playing w/ BC last week or two, have 1 cairnsmore1 Quad FPGA (picked up used), and fired up an old 5870 ATI I had.  Played around with a few distro's (Ubuntu, Debian) but finally settled on the BAMT build running on a thumb drive Wink
So far about about 1 BC earned, and donating time with a few different pools out there.

Really interested in the new ASIC's coming out, and see how they actually perform.

Hi,
I'm lexxie, I just discovered bitcoins a few months ago after one of my clients asked if i'll accept them as payment...Being one of those independent people living off "the grid", The ideal of decentralized currency is appealing. I'm a indie massage therapist/webmaster out of birmingham.

Hello, long time lurker.

I discovered bitcoins back in the summer and as I had a suitable graphics card, started mining away. I love the idea of the currency and am hoping for widespread adoptance in the not too distant future!

Hello everybody,

I have long time experience with programming, IT, networks, cryptography, but somehow did not get to know Bitcoin until recently and I really love the idea and hope, that I will be able to help it gain more power and weaken the traditional politicians controlled currencies Wink

Hiya Folks!

Another noob here.
After the failure of PayFriend (and others) to accept payments on certain Usenet indexing sites, I decided to sign up to Bitcoin. I'm also sick of paying large fees to those certain companies.
Bitcoin seems to be a much better way to do things. Just need to know how to use it now and how to mine coins.

I'll try not to mess up the forum too much with dumb questions.
