Due to a mass of trolling, only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections. You are considered "established" if you have made one post and then waited 4 hours. This post must be substantial: at least several sentences.

If you have really good posts, you can post a request for preemptive whitelisting in the appropriate topic.

Also:
- Newbies cannot upload their own avatars.
- You must have made one post in order to send PMs.
- You need 10 posts to put a link in your signature.

Note that it may take up to 10 minutes for your PM or posting permissions to be granted. (The system automatically checks every 10 minutes and promotes people as appropriate.)

Very sensible. Does the Technical Support Forum get trolled a lot? If not it would be handy to have it open.

the 50 post rule was good and might have actually helped clean up the other forums.  This new policy will do nothing and the other forums are already full of spam.

Awesome... Thanks! I was kinda pissed about having to find 50 meaningful things to post about in the newb forums. This policy is totally respectable.

I'm thankful this newb forum exists now. I just signed up last week and was using the forum before it went to hell. The last few days have been horrible trolling. It is satisfying to see the fear mongers and trolls dispatched. Sure we can still talk about ups and downs, but enough of the insanity. Thanks. =)

Heh, this confused me for quite a while since I just joined a couple days ago and could see my replied to notifications but couldn't reply back.  Thought I was going crazy not finding a reply button lol.
(and no I did not post this just to get my post count up, this was my 6th post)

No kidding... I was clicking through a forum that I read from page 1-33, went to reply and realized no button... Thinking It was a browser Issue, I clicked through a few others... No dice until i hit the front page again.

At least now I don't think the probability is as high that I am crazy.

Hello everyone.
