I also agree that this will keep out trolls... but I wish I had seen these rules earlier. Maybe I have just overseen this as always

These restrictions suck. You need to be an establised user to be able to post in the forum, and you became an established user by posting in the forum. Kind of a chicken-and-egg problem.

I understand this in some ways yes, but still it feels unfair. I could have helped some people today with their technical problems but... I'm writing this just to get 5 posts filled. Two hours more logged in and I can write to real topics again...

Yes, I agree.  It's difficult to participate when there is apparently a rigorous protocol to adhere to before joining the 'scene'.

It's is quite chiken and egg issue...

Hmm, more options:
Allow passing these limitations with small "donation", 0.02-0.05 BTC, supports the currency and new miners Grin

The "four hours online" part is probably excessive, but seriously people, we were getting spammed really really hard.  I assume this is just an emergency change to stop the flooding while they figure out a better solution.

I second this; a tip of .01/.10 BTC to the forum maintainers if you have something to say, otherwise read on and shut up :O

The login 'window' offers a 'log me in forever' option, so four hours online don't mean nothing.

Best regards.

Thanks for the clarification. Makes sense once you are informed about the reasons for the restrictions.

Kind regards

I was wondering why I wasn't able to post in other boards..

It would be nice if you inserted a link to this very topic where the reply link "should" be on other boards, so that people aren't wondering why they can't post there.

Doh, now I know why I could not find the reply button.

I'm not a newbie, been reading for months.  I got all excited reading one post, and I just had to reply, and drove myself nuts for 10 minutes trying to figure out how. Angry

I understand why tho.

So I have been browsing these forum for over three months (as a logged in user--at least most of the time) and it says I have only been online for 1 hour and 38 minutes (Total time logged in).  This doesn't make sense.  Or am I looking at the wrong info?

I agree restrictions are abit too much. It's much better to have a reputation system. Just because someone posts 1000 post does not make that per more established than someone who has lesser posts.

I understand the need for spam control, but I really think this announcement should be made a bit more obvious.

I signed up several days ago and was able to post without any problems, but I have now spent several hours trying to figure out what was wrong until I finally noticed the announcement at the top of the forum. Just so know, there are Bitcoin related blogs/websites writing about this issue as if its a technical problem with the site, so I am not the only that didn't notice the new rules...

I'm still showing up as newbie :-(

Also, my email address is showing in the bar at the left, even though I've clicked the hide from public option in my profile. Why is that?

Edit: Okay, just made it to junior member Smiley My email question still stands ...
