Thanks to bitcoin we are already our own banks, about the possibility of never using banks again, well that is possible but I see bitcoin acting more as a parallel system rather that being a replacement to the system already in place, at least in the short term.

Well you are right with it bitcoin is already your own bank at all and you don't have to have maintaining balance in able just to keep on saving. And with the transactions with bitcoin the fees are just really cheap unlike the transactions with bank they are very expensive at all and they are charging hidden charges even you are not using their service.

i think he means not using banks anymore not the other thing.
and i doubt that this will ever happen because we will be needing banks and fiat currency for the foreseeable future and the government is not going to give up their power over the fiat currency to a decentralized bitcoin.

All the list were good and I think if you show it to your friends they will be convinced on joining you.  I also cannot think of any additional good thing on your list.  There are more good side of using bitcoin than bad side.  The only bad side woth bitcoin is the fee when you want it to convert it in fiat currency and its unstable price.
