This coin...
None of the reported network hashrates are correct (suprnova, mph, chainz), I can't make heads or tails of the difficulty trying to calculate how long would it take to find a block with my hashrate and at times the wallet syncs slower than the speed of  new blocks being found.

This...

250MHs reported by ccminer, not a single share accepted for hours. What is up with the numbers here, nothing is right Cheesy

250 Kh/s or 250 Mh/s with multiple rigs?

The default port for suprnova (1596/1569) has a difficulty of 32 which is huge, even for a 6 card rig (1.3 Mh/s per 1070). I'd argue that's way too high even for 10 minute blocktimes but Zcoin periodically have much faster blocks (closer to 1 minute). Blocks being found faster than you can send shares is wasted hash.

And if you use the lower difficulty port 1598 (difficulty 1) vardiff will soon kick the difficulty way up then way down which repeats over and over again.

Just did a test with 7.54 Mh/s and from diff 1 vardiff jumped to 7.5 > 20.83 > 5.68 > 1.16 > 2.27 > 16.28 > 8.88 > 2.22 > 1.28  > 8.64 in 10 minutes or 70 shares. That's way too much fluctuation.

As a completely different note, my wallet is still only at 13545 blocks after a bit over 3 days.

The wallet is a bit slow, but three days is crazy

It should take no longer than 1/2 day to a full day depending on your connection speeds

What O/S are you running the wallet on?

Code:
[2017-02-13 00:50:42] 1 miner thread started, using 'lyra2Z' algorithm.
[2017-02-13 00:50:43] Stratum difficulty set to 1 (0.00391)

[2017-02-13 00:52:05] GPU #0: Gigabyte GTX 1050 Ti, 231.01 MH/s
[2017-02-13 00:52:10] lyra2Z block 20838, diff 188.864

CPU, two threads on i7 report 111485.07 H/s which translates to 0.1 MHs and shares are being accepted regularly by the pool.

I restarted the sync now with fresh wallet.dat, still slow as hell, at block 3000 in 3 hours.

Can anyone please walk me through the steps to setup the GPU miner with SuprNova?

Suprnova -> help -> getting started.
Same goes for any pool Wink

DNTM

I keep getting the error when I try to run it.

"The program can't start because VCRUNTIME140.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem"

After reading several posts regarding missing .dll files, I thought to share some information with anyone who is ever missing any .dll files. First, you can always do a Google search with the name of needed .dll file, & then download it after you've ensured it's legit/virus-free. There is also a website that I often use myself called dll-files.com. I have never had a problem with any of the .dll files I've downloaded from that website, but you should still always scan them first! For the record, I do not have any affiliation to this website..

Website: https://www.dll-files.com/

I was having this same problem (as other have also mentioned). [Assuming you are mining on suprnova's pool] I tried using the various ports ocminer posted for different rigs (see the XZC suprnova main-page for port numbers), & was getting so many different outcomes with crazy results. In the end, the solution was patience - after about an hour of mining on the proper port, it seems everything has made itself stable, & I'm regularly accepting shares with a steady hashrate.

no block source available my wallet says. MAc computer.

Help me please, i won't deposit my XZC to my mac wallet until i know what is that "no block source available" thing.

That just means that you aren't connected to any nodes. Are you behind a firewall?

Just little snitch but i'm allowing traffic so that can't be.

Win7 x64, i7-6800k, SSD, 100 Mbps connection, 15 peers, wallet v0.8.7.5 (v0.2.1).

A GTX 1070 does 1.3 Mh/s so there's an issue with your miner. Or maybe your card crashed.

Really? That's the first I've heard of decent GPU performance, but it's still less that 2x my 6700K.

750 Ti: ~0.2 Mh/s
970: ~0.8 Mh/s
1070: 1.3 Mh/s

But all of them are at less than 40% power so there's massive improvements to be gained.

I doubt that. The cuda lyra2 is already highly optimized. The cores are probably stalled waiting on memory.
Some optimization of memory  throughput may be possible, I just did some in cpuminer but once the memory
bus is full no amount of compute optimization is going to help.

The problem with these algos is each thread requires its own buffer. On a CPU with 8 threads that's no big deal
but on a GPU with hundreds or thousands of threads, well you get the picture. I don't know if the GPU miners
can share a single buffer among a group of threads. That may allow more threads to run.

Power is not an indicator of potential optimization. In fact a poorly optimized miner can use
more power than optimized. If it's not using a lot power it means there's a bottleneck causing
the cuda cores to spend  a lot of time waiting.

The only possible optimyzation for zcoin is to improve the scheduling of memory accesses to
get the datas in the cache before it's needed. Data prefetching gave good results in cpuminer.

There's zcoin.miningpoolhub.com and there seems to be a Chinese pool as well.

Good to spread out the hash a bit and point some to MPH, Pool.MN and Maxminers.
