Great news guys.

Canaan removed BTC service fee.

Hi, thanks for your order again! And, it is great you are helping #growtheblockchain. We have learned from our first week of sales. We removed our BTC service fee moving forward. Let us know when you are ready to place your next order. Thanks again for being one of the first AvalonMiner 721 customers!

Jon

Also, I am getting my miners tomorrow. Wohooo

Ah the joy of buying early  a 25 usd fee lost.
Wow. What an EPIC failure on Canaan's part.

Well they sent me an email I will get 25 usd off the next order Cheesy

I have received a few pm's about moq for price  breaks. 50-100 size order  may or may not be good enough for a discount.

I helped sell 40+ avalon 6's last year but this is not the same.
I am not interested in shipping 50  to 100 pieces to my home in NJ, USA.

It would be certain I would be subject to fees for importing 50 K worth of gear to my house. Last year I did the two group buys with zero profit for me.
But it was San Francisco to NJ  no import issues. I will use my two and may take them up on a 25 dollar refund for the next miner.

I thought another member attempting a group buy was told less than 1000, use website?
Are you getting different info?

Another Kano post with A7 info:
... and 2 more changes for anyone who gets an A7 and mines here Smiley

In /etc/crontabs/root
Change the '5' to '2'
i.e. change it to:
Code:
*/2 * * * * /usr/bin/cgminer-monitor

and change /usr/bin/cgminer-monitor to check the last share, not the last work:
i.e. change line 14 from:
Code:
B=`cgminer-api devs | grep "^   \[Last Valid Work\]"`
to
Code:
B=`cgminer-api devs | grep "^   \[Last Share Time\]"`

Basically what this does is if the last share found is ever more than a minute ago, it will restart cgminer.
As I've mentioned before that's ever so unlikely here on a single miner.
But also I've found during the A7 startup it would often have to restart cgminer - and the 5->2 change speeds that up.

I would like to have an A7 to replace my A6, but as a hobby miner I just can't justify the price.  I'll be looking at them on the used market once people start selling them off, but for now I'll be happy with my A6.

I've been committing driver improvements for the A7 to master cgminer anyway and they're likely to be included in firmware updates so you probably won't have to keep track of the suggestions pasted here. I've altered the frequency adjustment to speed it up, fixed a reject issue, and converted the fan controller to a PID-like feedback loop for optimal temperature and fanspeed control.

What's the best hash/watts you've gotten out of them? Thanks!

5.3TH @ 815W at the wall with gold PSUs. Not much more efficient than the default which ends up being 6.3TH @ 1040W, however it's a lot quieter and probably makes it more suitable for home mining as a result. In short setting the voltage to 4669 gave me this, but your mileage may vary as all silicon has different capabilities and tolerances.

So What do I do? Others got this  what did you do?

I got a letter from fedex asking for the HTS number

  I gave 8471500150 = the avalon 721

  I gave  8471300100 = the rasp pi

first code is that for a desktop pc or a server pc
second code is that for a tablet or a pad style pc

fingers crossed .

As for avalon charging me a 25 usd fee for using btc and now failing to code the gear correctly. costing me at least 3 days shipping time I won't type my feelings.

I will say they sent me a free avalon 4.1 back in the day and they gave me a good discount on a second avalon 4.1.  As I prefer to look at the full half of a glass not the empty half.

Hello,  Here are my issues and how they were resolved.  My bank does do international wire transfers for a $30 dollar fee (in a business account).  My first two attempts failed because the bank code had extra X's at the end--took a while to figure that out, but eventually did.  Then it failed twice because I did not have an adequate street address for the company.  Canaan promptly provided this when I asked.  Success--bank said it transferred $2018, but Canaan only received $2008--an additional fee was charged somewhere--my guess it was sent through an intermediate bank (Citi NY?) and Canaan got the fee charge.  Fortunately Canaan waived the fee.  Then I got a letter from Fedex about 9AM about the shipment--not enough info to classify, what are they?  Where were they made?  I replied the A721's are specialized computers and the control unit is just a computer like the Rasberry Pi and they were all made in China.  I also sent links to the A721 and controller pages from the site.  In addition, I said these are similar in function to the Bitmaintech Antminer s9.   Released from customs later in the day I got the customs email.  They are to arrive Monday the 5th, which is 5 days after the wire transfer went through.  I still don't know how they were classified and how much duty I will get billed for, or how much of a fee Fedex will charge for all this.    My order was for two A721 and one controller.

I gave the hts codes for:

 a pc server  =  8471500150
a tablet/pad =  8471300100

I should have 0 tax.

But the broker  from fedex will most likely charge a fee for paperwork.

I got 2x    721's and a rasp pi

I REALLY REALLY love the controller option
Spondoolie had it as well.
I wish bitmain would get off their ass and do the same.
One IP/Control panel for multiple miners would be a heck of a lot nicer than having 12 tabs open lol

Not to mention the possible cost savings regardless of how small it may be.

Silly question maybe but I have 3 A6's can I string them in with an A7?

Probably not backwards comparable but why couldn't it be?

Thanks everyone

If you have the newest software version installed in the Raspberry Pi, both A6 and A7s should work.

Are they taking bitcoin for orders?
Or anything other than bank transfer?

Usually you have no need to keep all your X tabs opened. Set up all your miners once and forget about them.  Wink

But is ONE controller will fail, in case of Bitmain you lose the hashing power of one miner. But in case of Avalons you lose the hashing power of the whole string/bunch of miners connected to this controller. What is more acceptable for you?

Bitcoin is still accepted, correct?
What is the current shipping time after payment?
Using my own brand new Raspberry Pi would be okay correct, if they provide the image?
