The business model of this operation was just a pure ponzi scheme in my opinion. Those who got in earlier are rewarded but those who just came suffered the most. BCC would eventually turn into dust as people will hurriedly go for the nearest exit.

Those bots were programmed to show those statistics in order to convince the greedy investors which have no experience take every glittering thing as gold. It was all mix up of statistics and figures and as new money was pouring it was showing good results apparently. Referral / affiliate programs aren't the issue until you are referring people to a ponzi scheme that uses new money to pay old marks. Nearly every legitimate affiliate program I've pushed in the last 20 years had a referral program and I did not (would not) "invest" in BitConnect.
