Every time I go to the bank I like to ask them if they have heard of BTC, most of the time the answer is no.

Most people I find still have zero idea what BTC is unless they are friends with the likes of us.. I don't think we are even in early adoption stage.. we are in "the chasm" .. it would appear we are going to survive though... appear anyways..

For me there are also few people who doesn't know about Bitcoin. Because some of my friends did not know about it they always ask me what is Bitcoin and how it works. I always said that from Bitcoin it can help me to earn money, it also helps me to buy the things that I want and helps my family in our financial.

I think that not everyone already knows about bitcoin because some of my friends didn't know about it. There are people who know about Bitcoin but there are few who doesn't know about it. Some of my friends knows about it but they didn't believe on it because they always say that bitcoin is a scam or a dangerous site, I don't know why they think that Bitcoin is a scam but there are more people who believe on it because they all know the process and they all know how it works and how we earn to it.

Btc is still in its early stages. For world popularity i mean. Lots of people do not know what btc or cryptocurrency is. People into investing and knows the internet are usually into btc. People that are not into internet invest in real estate. That is just my opinion.

bitcoin is still stuck in a risky investment pattern, bitcoin is also not free from official regulatory issues, many people are afraid of it and they are dominated as people who want to play safer for their survival. Internet use has not been able to open their minds more.

Sometimes i cant even explain it to them further because they are totally have no idea about it even the name itself.. but some computer savy friends have info aboir bitcoin but they hardly even talk about though.

Where I live, people do not know about it, when asked about bitcoin, they ask me what is it? I also want to use it to pay for the fees but everyone does not know it and they think it does not exist.

i think depending on the country we are at different levels of adoption, globally, i think we are at ealry adoption stage still. majority of world population have not yet adopted cryptos. however, in some developed countries, the level of adoption is abit highier

Almost a year after your posting time, much have happened OP. Here in our country we have millions of what we call here "keyboard warriors" because almost everyone here are into social medias especially facebook. I've seen how powerful this platform is and right now btc is all over it. Although many have heard about it already, all they know about it is its name and not its function. Many are interested but don't know how to start so they just ignore it.

for them bitcoin is just a form of investment and a great way to earn money.
but if you will ask them even just what is a blockchain they cannot explain it.
that is why they cannot really promote it to other person since they dont know it for themselves too.

yes your statement is very legit.even when i ask people about bitcoin they just think i a talking about fairy tales.
This leads me to the idea if this is still in its very very early stage where its not available for normal people.

I also once asked the people around me, they also answered did not know about bitcoin. in my opinion they are very loss do not join bitcoin. there are some who want to know about bitcoin, I taught him about bitcoin, then he is very happy because he has earned from bitcoin.

This thread was posted a year ago and nothing has changed expect the value of Bitcoin wich jumped from 1000$ as Op mentioned to 6000$.
I believe we have to wait for a long time before we can see Bitcoin used everywhere. Here, it's the same few people know about Bitcoin wich make it, im most cases, useless.

There's a reason why they don't know about those stuffs -- They are not interested about it. For them bitcoin is a mere form of investment and so that's how they treat it. They don't care what's going on under the hood. They don't care about the nodes and all that and that shouldn't concern you at all. It doesn't even concern them. What I realized is that as time goes by and the more bitcoin becomes like a usual currency, the more the technical part of bitcoin will be neglected. Supply and demand is just common knowledge, so people would know how bitcoin's price is determined.

We don't have to teach them at all. Just imagine a teacher trying to teach Math class to an English major student. The reason why he/she took English as a major is because that's what they are interested on. It's not that he's totally not into Math, it's just that he's not interested. This is analogous to people only wanting to learn about the investment and money making aspect of bitcoin and not the technicalities.

Actually they do know i see many people who have heard of bitcoin and claim that it is some online scam but they don't know anything about the price, how it works etc they are just repeating what most media is saying calling is a pyramid scheme. I have nothing to lose I'm happy with the all the profits but bitcoin currently is famous
