Do you think the investment in NEM is worth it purely for the harvesting? I read a little on it but am not sure whether it would pay off in the long run, and obviously that kind of staking is a long term kind of thing. What do you see happening to XEM's price?

You will get profit from it, but you have to hold them for long because there are many major updates being developed by this NEM company. Already the price of NEM has been increased to thripple so there are many chances that the price NEM will increase more in coming days.

XEM here, I have been selling some here but will hold half my stake for the long haul, not only because I think this coin has as much potential as Ethereum/Ripple, but because it's easier to keep it in my wallet than transfer it around exchanges to other coins, none of which I can find that impress me compared to XEM.   I have a bit of Ark as well. That's about it.

Mijin.  Catapult. Multi signature transactions.  Messaging.  3000 transactions/second. Secure. Uses much less power than bitcoin, while being much faster. XEM as a currency. ETH as a service. XRP as ?  Those are the big 3 of relevance. Litecoin has segwit otherwise XEM is a better currency and will displace it and take 4th place behind Ethereum in market cap within a month.   I'd buy Ripple/Ethereum but they are relatively expensive compared to XEM.

Bancor will be the best among them since their as i read on their whitepaper they've got solid plans and potentialy to get some solid rise if things would go as they planned and aside from that creditbit,stratis,ICN will also my one of the selection since i already see the result of their strength and maybe price will be more pumped hard in the future since devs of each coin are having are actively doing some great interaction on its ecosystem.

Your trust and the fact are two different things. Now I only see it in the top 3 on coinmarketcap, it was ripple defeated and I think the best altcoin to invest for 2017 is ripple. Because I have seen a lot of strong pump in the past few days coming from the ripple, I believe its value could reach $ 0.5 to $ 1 in 2017, actually it is a hot coin on the market. ETH has passed its peak, its price tends to go down and eventually stabilize at $ 90, I think the next time it will not have too much volatility in prices

I think the best altcoin to invest in for 2017 is the ethereum coin . If you see the price before when they started last 2 years ago the price is 0.001 only or less and if you see the price now its 0.05 more thats awesome. I bought ethereum coin when the price is cheap and Im happy because If I sell that today I will earn a lot of profit but I decided to hold it because for sure before the end of this year the price become double or maybe 0.1 bitcoin per ether .So its better if you buy ether now if you want a lot of profit. Many projects and partnership are in ether so this coin are very promising.

Agree with you there - I've been mining and trading XMR for just over a year now and it has been quite an interesting ride - I think there will be more to come - I predicted at the start of the year that XMR will be the number 2 or 3 currency on CMC by the end of the year - hasn't lived up to my expectations - but there is still lots of potential

Anyone got any tips on what coins to look at and on what exchange to buy? I went from GDAX to Kraken because I needed more options and GDAX trade volume was a bit low. You should check out BAY, it can be bought on bittrex. It is extremely undervalued with an almost endless amount of features. It has huge growth potential especially when the rolling peg comes out later this year. Awesome dev, team, and community. Check out their ANN thread or slack channel for more info
