The truth is most coins that have active development, unique features and are not total scams will survive. There will come a time when all altcoins will be instantly interchangeable, with bitcoin as the price conversion benchmark. Ripple demonstrated this the other day in a live demo at the Berlin Expo by sending a blockchain transaction Across 7 Ledgers. The single transaction went across public blockchains, private blockchains, a centralized ledger and a traditional payment channel. I also know this is true because I dream't it would happen last night. The good news in you can buy and hold 15 of your favourite alts with confidence instead of pumping & dumping them on Poloniex. My own portfolio consists of 4 sectors (listed in order of preference): blue chips (BTC, ETH & XRP), privacy coins like DASH, PIVX and XMR, applications (things that take the block chain to new spaces like FCT, REP, PPC, NXS and LSK (I would add REP or GNO but I hope Hivemind blows them both away) and ones I find funky that could moon: BRIT, all the crytonote coins in particular BCN, and my particular fave BURST. Even wannabes like NEM, NXT, ZEC & BTS will be just fine. So just go out and buy whatever the fuck you want, except wank coin, I'm going to grasp those bullocks by the horn.

The altcoin that will survive in the future for me is Eth, Ltc, Dogecoin, XEM, Hmq. These are my choice that will survive in the coming years. Like Eth is the most talked about because of its continues increasing price and other mention altcoin will survice too.

I think it's possible for altcoins to survive in the future because the idea of Internet of Things will need coins but Bitcoin is now having its disavantages so that it can't be the future's coin needed

Yeah Dogecoin, I love Dogecoin because this old coin keeps going and I hope the Dogecoin will get better. Eth lately is indeed making a surprise with an ever-increasing price.

I think you really need to look for a coin/token that has a use, coins only made for trading will eventually die away.I like MYST as it has a great potential as the token can be used to buy their VPN service.I think any good company with a reasonable amount of tokens (not the millions and millions some have) will survive as long as they get the project to market and follow the whitepaper timescale, gambling using tokens may become the biggest use of all

Yeah. Altcoins that could provide solid development, innovation, and most of all, usability will most likely succeed over the long term. There are many prominent altcoins in the market, which you could buy right now with their own use cases. If you've been paying close attention to their price movements, they have been rising in value exponentially during the year, reducing Bitcoin's total market dominance. Thus, if everything continues as is, altcoins would be widely used in the mainstream world for various applications, while Bitcoin will remain as a store of value. The altcoins which prove to have better stability, technology, and usability, would likely remain on top and overcome other cryptocurrrencies on the markets. There is a fierce competition on which provides faster transactions, anonymity and user acceptance from around the world. Just my opinion.

These are my top choice to survive: Ethereum, Ripple, Zcash, Litecoin etc.. There you have it. Those will most likely survive in the future. There few others am not 100% sure about, like: NEM, Wave, Siacoin, DigiByte and few other upcoming ICO.

LGD is the only coin besides maybe bitcoin that has a real world use and is tied to a real life business. LGD outlives them all in my opinion. It can be used for topless dances, booze, and parties in Vegas. That will outlive us all.

I pity for anyone thinking Ethereum will be #1 & One of the top Cryptocurrencies to survive in the long run. What people forget is that, Majority of the transactions & Money in ETH Marketcap is powered by numerous ICOs. If SEC eventually comes after ICOs, It means ETH wouldn't be as "Popular" as People in the community are regarding it to be.
If Bitcoin scales well in the future, I don't see any Crypto overtaking it.

Dogecoin is a good coin? Yeah sure....
Yes, I agree doge coin is a good coin However expecting the price of doge to increase seems untinkable. I have used doge for long time the price of doge climb up slowly. I don't know why? I think there are not many programs or developers who used dogecoin to be the first payment methode.

I think the only altcoins which will be able to survive are the one's who are progressing really fast and are showing active devolopement. I think ethereum, monero, litecoin and dash have good chances of survival and will show a massive increase in value.

More altcoins would disappear in the long run which are just pump and dump coins.most of them are premined so the number of altcoins available would be very less and marketcap calculations goes wrong in those altcoins.Only few altcoins like Ethereum,Decred may survive.
