I think that alt coins will survive is Monera. Dash and Eth tbat will be there long enough to survive although that ethereum trust is going down according to my research and also the transaction volume of this coins is still high and i believe that the monero will be become a good alt coin. LTC- Litecoin would sure to survive many people are investing in it.
Dogecoin- Dogecoin is small but many people are also using it.

As long as the big coins survive I think the altcoins will survive as well, if bitcoin stays than all the altcoins will stay, on the time bitcoin gets unstable and lets say another coin like XMR of Ethereum will take the first place the altcoins will get bigger with it, only thing is there are a lot of "shitcoins" and I hope due to regulations and that stuff these shitcoins will disappear and the good coins used in real word outside cryptocurrency, I think Tenx/Pay , OMG, NEO, QTUM and a few others will be big in the coming years if governments arent filthy and a pain in the ass.

In my opinion Eth, Litecoin, Monero will survive in the future. They are good for holding. I think that they are promising and strong. Also Waves, and ripple can be good in the future but I am not sure that much about them. Maybe waves can be good but for ripple it's lower possibility.

I think no altcoin can survive in long term investment except for bitcoins. Altcoins is only good for short term investment of course if you want to earn quick and easy money you should try trading some popular altcoins like ETH,  DOGE, LITECOIN. But if your planning for a long term and a safe haven for your assets you should probably go for bitcoins.

In my opinion, I think that the only ones prone to survive would be good old altcoins such as Litecoin and Dogecoin, but I may be wrong.

Nevertheless, I would like to know your opinion about this as well as any altcoin that might be worth holding onto for the long term. 

Litecoin and Dogecoin has no further development plans or team .I don't think they can go fast.
My recommendation is Ethereum.Its smart contract is more and more popular.
