Very likely, the current user bitcoin is already larger than paypak, it is no longer a paypal will go bankrupt because of lost users. can't doubt again that paypal is not good for users.
I think too much if paypal will be bankrupt because bitcoin is getting famous and popular. it may occur if there is a massive migration of users paypal to bitcoin

Oh, PayPal is definitely a currency at this point. And pretty well accepted too. I've seen PayPal integration on every shopping cart I use online, at select fast food restaurants, some gas pumps. It's even an option at CoinStar.
And they are a bank as well. At least, they act like a bank, holding funds from consumers for non AML/KYC reasons.
PayPal is quite a popular payment option around the world, that's a fact, but that doesn't make PayPal a currency. PayPal is nothing more than a fiat related payment platform. And yes, they have a banking license that allows them to operate like a traditional bank, but that doesn't change anything from the fact that their main focus is still offering people a reliable payment platform.

Right now both are rendering service standing on different platforms. Now bitcoin has been gaining strength with its currency form, where PayPal serves only as an payment gateway. Only time decides based on the interest of people towards development.
Since crypto currency is competing foreign currency, expect that bitcoin could beat paypal. Ad bitcoin be supported by government, its market would spread rapidly making it be legalized and formally introduced to the market where in it can beat paypal in this case. Yeah ? The problem you are making is paypal is not a currency !! PayPal Europe was granted a Luxembourg banking license so they are bank. Bitcoin is just an e-currency for a niche and nothing more. e-gold was an e-currency, liberty reserve was an e-currency. BTC came with something new, the trading...and the speculators were attracted.

Why sir, those are the specific qualities of a currency: a system of money in general use in a particular country. "the dollar was a strong currency" synonyms: money, legal tender, cash, banknotes, bills, notes, coins, coinage, specie "foreign currency" 2. the fact or quality of being generally accepted or in use. "the term gained currency during the second half of the 20th century" synonyms: prevalence, circulation, exposure Things dont have to be a fiat, to be a currency. Scrip works fine, as does specie. Hell, if the shit hits the fan, bullets will be the currency if the future I wasn't aware they went ahead and actually got a banking license. I will admit, PayPal is on my permanent shit list, we have beef, so to speak. Not my favorite company, so I'm a tad.. harsh.. concerning them. I'm toning it waaay down.

But you don't go to someone and say, "Hey, How much does it cost? 3 'PayPals'? A currency is a generally accepted form of money used as a medium of exchange for goods and services. When you pay someone using PayPal, you don't send him 'PayPals', you send him fiat. PayPal can be considered the world's first payment processor/method/bank/company/whatever, but not a currency.

There's a chance that bitcoin can overcome PayPal but we are still far from it. But right now it's not going to happen as PayPal is being trusted by it's customers throughout the globe. And in bitcoin we are still few in this crypto transacting though there are a lot of transactions happening daily. People will still stick to PayPal.
Just one big mistake of Paypal could make them lose all their customer. That will be the chance of bitcoin to takeover. Once the news spread that bitcoin can do the same thing as Paypal or even better it will be changed. At first I thought they are good services also, but as time goes by I got so regretful specially with the high fees that I paid which could be added now to my investment here in bitcoin. It is just too expensive for every transaction you made from them specially the cashing out to a bank. That can happen but that's a "only if" PayPal will do a big mistake. But they are already in the industry for a lot of years and they've got millions of customers throughout the world. Also they can try to adopt bitcoin is they want but I don't think this is possible to happen but if it will, they can attract a lot of customers from bitcoin. Agree. This one is a hard wall to break into. My colleagues still use this kind of service whenever they do work which are online. They say some of their works dont have any options but just Paypal. I think that is the one that is lacking in those online jobs. It is the broad of option to where you could pick where your money goes.

Paypal cannot be overcome by bitcoins because of the simple reason that 90% of the online e-commerce sites accept paypal as a payment method and hence that plays a vital role. Though a person who knows btc and paypal both would always prefer dealing via bitcoins.
I think the situation will be different when already many people around the world use and adopt bitcoin of course, inevitably. e commerce or certain stores will also accept bitcoin No mostly that will never happen. I totally agree with you that in future e-commerce will surely adopt bitcoin but when compared with PayPal the amount of people accepting bitcoin wi be really less. And the reason is paypal sends money to the seller instantly, buyer's have protection while purchasing and it isn't hard at all to get PayPal balance as for bitcoin we need to submit id , etc. In the end bitcoin can surely give a challenge to paypal but it will never overcome it

bitcoin certainly has the potential to replace bitcoin and it is a lot better than paypal even. but in my opinion there are two things that are preventing this to happen. 1) is the volatile price: when price of bitcoin is not stable, people aren't seeing bitcoin as a currency. instead they treat it as an investment and nobody uses investment to buy things. 2) the block size: which is making the transactions pile up in the mempool, making things slow and increase the amount of fees by a great deal.
this is good points mate. bitcoins' price is not yet that stable. compared to any currency and it is unlike paypal which uses currencies like USD, PHP, etc. besides paypal have been in the business for years already and have been tested by time. yes bitcoin may replace it but i think its now for now. maybe in the future when bitcoin will be more stable compare for todays.

PayPal is really big and it's hard to be struck off by bitcoin and overcome it's industry. People are still trusting their service and they are one of the most well known, so I doubt this will happen.

About the legal fact, Bitcoin can not overcome paypal at this point. Paypal is controlled by financial organizations of the government . It's like an online midde bank for purchase and payment and it helps buyers and sellers to be safe with all transaction online. Bitcoin is not still accepted by government so that bitcoin transactions are considered as illegal transactions . I expect someday, Bitcoin will be accepted by government and I'm sure bitcoin can overcome paypal in the future.
I do wish the same. Paypal is now acting like a god of the internet payment facilities and so many times they favor their own interest more than they consider the interests of their user and members. One day, Bitcoin can be able to replace the services done by Paypal and I hope that day to come soon. As for now, they can co-exist and can even be complimenting each other if Paypal will decide to accept Bitcoin.

The only problem they need to do is they are becoming stricter now and that's leading their customers to look for something better like bitcoin.

I don't think that Paypal will ever accept Bitcoin, because both are incompatible to each other. Paypal offers payment reversal for the buyers, while Bitcoin has no such facility. So, I don't think that PayPal may ever consider accepting Bitcoins.

I think bitcoin already surpass paypal with it's faster payment features and anonymous user transactions. And bitcoin has been added as another payment processor in most online markets if ever you want to buy gadgets, goods and services also many countries has adopted it and start using it more than their fiat currency Many countries are innovating bitcoin and building atm machines.

Yes, many countries are installing bitcoin ATM machines. But still, we can't buy things online directly using bitcoins yet because currently most of the bitcoin transactions are happening in gambling and porn industries. In other industries not yet adopted bitcoins yet. Until couple of months back Fiverr was accepting bitcoins to buy gigs but now they also taking out Bitcoin payment option.

GreenBits; I understand what your point is, but we can't say that PayPal is a currency in the same way that we can't call Bank of America to be a currency. They only offer people a platform that allows them to transact, store, convert, take out loans, etc. In case of PayPal, they aren't offering anything if you take out the fiat currencies. It will then be an empty platform until they come up with their own digital currency - which at that time can really be called a currency (even though I believe it will be named differently). I think bitcoin already surpass paypal with it's faster payment features
Nope. If you transact via your PayPal balance, everything will post instantly. and anonymous user transactions.
Bitcoin is close to anonymous if you take the right precautions (e.g. mix your coins, don't send out coins from your exchange directly to whatever entity, etc). And bitcoin has been added as another payment processor in most online markets if ever you want to buy gadgets, goods and services
Bitcoin definitely enjoys some sort of adoption by merchants, but it's not all that wide spread as you seem to think. also many countries has adopted it and start using it more than their fiat currency
Complete nonsense. Many countries are innovating bitcoin and building atm machines.
It has nothing to do with countries - in most cases they are just startups from Bitcoin enthusiasts, and that's really it.

PayPal is a very popular payment system. It is known in many countries of the world. Bitcoin still can not compare with it. These systems are not competitors to each other.

I think it has potential, and it highly probable that this happens in a near future. BTC Aquiles' heel is how to buy it. After that is a system much cheaper and easier to use than Paypal. BTC ATM's only helps to cash out BTC, but not to buy it. With mobile apps helping to buy it with no hassle, it will overcome PayPal in no time.
