It has got the possibility as well bitcoin provides similar service that PayPal provides. Also the co-founder of PayPal is much interested into bitcoin as it serves more than a payment support services. Can expect bitcoin getting added to the PayPal in the future.
I really hope this happens, that way it would be easier for businesses to use Bitcoin as their payment too and we have more options to buy things. Smiley Using Bitcoin we could have lower fees if the amount to be bought/sold is a considerable amount, plus, no chargebacks (hopefully). +1 for Bitcoin to be added to PayPal.

If not, I don't think Bitcoin will overtake PayPal as not everyone will except Bitcoin as a currency, and they prefer cash.

I think no,because in the first place paypal is an online payment manager which allows you to pay any item online. They are holding different kinds of currency which allows you to use it all over the world with legality which the bitcoin cannot give us from now.Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency that allows you to pay with anonymity but it is the actual currency that should be converted to your local currency and it is not legal in all countries so I think no.

Will bitcoin overcome PayPal?

Its all a matter of bitcoin adoption on the part of both buyers and sellers
Sellers need to accept and buyers need to be willing to spend.

I needed to buy something on Friday and wanted to use bitcoin from
A little trade I did during the week but the online shop doesn't accept
Bitcoin so I paid with PayPal!!

Its probably a matter of time but I think it will have to get kick started
By the sellers

Any online shop that doesn't accept bitcoin is quite stupid because there are already many payment services that will automatically convert it to fiat for them so they don't even need to touch the bitcoins personally.

yes i am also sure that very soon bitcoin will overcome paypal.  actually bitcoin is present everywhere in every corner of the world while paypal is limited to some area. paypal is also facing so many problems and issues, while bitcoin has only issue of transaction fee and hope that this problem will be solved very soon. i think still most of the people who are using paypal do not have any idea about bitcoin and even the shopkeepers do not know about bitcoin.

Maybe its up to us as consumers to request payment in bitcoin rather than
having to use paypal and if enough people make the enquiry when shopping
online it might spark them to offer it sooner?

Paypal cannot be overcome by bitcoins because of the simple reason that 90% of the online e-commerce sites accept paypal as a payment method and hence that plays a vital role. Though a person who knows btc and paypal both would always prefer dealing via bitcoins.
If 90% of the people in the world pay for things with PayPal then PayPal has a very large chance in being the top payment processor for online transactions. People that use Bitcoin will see how well PayPal is performing and will try copying it though I am sure that Bitcoin will fail in doing so.
If PayPal integrates Bitcoin into their PayPal system then Bitcoin will be much more popular than PayPal.

There is no if and chance. Paypal IS the bigest payment gateway in the world excluding Visa.
But again it is stupid to compare Paypal and Visa and Bitcoin.

And it i also stupid to think that in the end there will be only one.
No , the three of them will never really compete or "kill" each other.

And have you looked at the fees recently those payment services take?
Also you know the legal process involved in that?

It not just putting a shopping cart in wordpress adding bitpay app and that's all.
Maybe in a 3rd world country but around here you have to follow some laws.

I think it can because Bitcoin í a big currency, it works all over the world and Paypal is just a payment system, some countries don't accpet Paypal
It has got the possibility as well bitcoin provides similar service that PayPal provides. Also the co-founder of PayPal is much interested into bitcoin as it serves more than a payment support services. Can expect bitcoin getting added to the PayPal in the future.

The matter really is that when you use PayPal the actual value that you pay doesn't change overtime but as it is which is great in doing transactions. Bitcoin on the other hand becomes expensive and at the same time may go below the value designated at the time of tranaction. But the idea for online business, online stores to accept both PayPal and Bitcoin payment is a good idea to consider.

In my opinion no, because there are many people that still don't know about bitcoin out there. In the other hand, Paypal is really popular and almost every people know about paypal as an online payment. Bitcoin can overcome paypal but i'm not sure it will happen in 1-2 years. Maybe for next 3-5 years it could happen.

Yes agree and don't seem to take a long time to defeat marketcap paypal, one thing becomes the power of paypal is they were accepted the banks and work closely with the credit card provider.

There was a possiblity for bitcoin while charging low transaction fees for micro transaction no it is not the case so bitcoin now meant to huge fund transaction so there is very less chance

bitcoin currency and paypal arr belong into different field. we use bitcoin as virtual crypto currency payment and paypal is in a common or traditional payment. so in the next 10yrs or decade paypal will still be the up over bitcoin.

I think the main point is, we have to admit marketcap currently paypal marketcap is still greater than the bitcoin and I bet 5 years longer bitcoin will overcome paypal.
