It might, but only if cryptocurrencies become widely adopted as a global standard.
i also think that bitcoin will overcome paypal. in fact now people are using bitcoin for transferring their funds from one place to another, which is more easy and convenient,

It seems it took at least 7 more years to be able to beat paypal, this is because the market share is still greater than paypal paypal, the main factor of success because paypal received bank.

I wish something would "overcome" PayPal. How they can get away with 6 month confirmation times, and call themselves "new Money" is beyond me.
To answer the OP - Will oranges replace sausages? They are totally different things, as are Bitcoin and PayPal.
Nailed it. Paypal was formed for another purpose, it deals with real money transfer online (country currencies). Bitcoin on the other hand is from virtual/digital money to real money (depending on country currency).

I am very sure and optimistic that bitcoin is going to overcome PayPal going by the gradual global acceptability of bitcoin as a digital virtual currency, many countries has started accepting bitcoin, car dealers, restaurants e.t.c are also accepting bitcoin I was informed that there is bitcoin ATM which is also a welcome development.

It has already started to happen and this is a great thing for Bitcoin. It started with all those persons which Paypal shut down or froze they accounts without them doing anything illegal (I agree with Paypal when they freeze illegal accounts, using different IP-s and doing shady things but I don't when they shut anyone account down just because he is starting to make money in Ebay one example). All of these people have migrated to bitcoin and this is a good thing for bitcoin. After some years Bitcoin would have surpass Paypal in a great amount.
Since PayPal is centralized, it has the power to restrict certain users from using its services, and enforce regulatory requirements. With Bitcoin, people can finally have freedom over their money, without the risk of getting their account frozen or seized, as well as charging extremely low fees, making it convenient for anyone to use in their everday payments. One thing for sure is that if Bitcoin continues to rise in value and popularity, it will become a currency which merchants and businesses cannot resist, as its benefits outweights the ones provided by a centralized payments processor like PayPal. When this happens, then PayPal would have no choice but to adopt Bitcoin or become obsolete as cryptocurrencies take the lead. Each day, Bitcoin is getting stronger, so it should only be a matter of time, before it becomes a better alternative than PayPal itself. Just my opinion

Do you think that sometime in the future, Bitcoin might overcome Paypal, as it scales in capacity and userbase over the years? We already have the ability to create our own marketplace with OpenBazaar, that uses Bitcoin as its payment method, so it should be no surprise that the combination of these two may be a fierce competition for both eBay and Paypal. Nevertheless, feel free to vote on the poll above and express your opinion about it, if desired. already overcome paypal , paypal become worst light now , im using it on 2016 for selling pokemon go account since only accept paypal payment , that was pain in the ass ..even though i already verify document things im still need to wait over fucking 21 days for my balance to show , since then ive never used them again . i'll switch to bitcoin and make selly.gg as a payment gate ..works well

Bitcoin has double its value this year already, besides those the advantage of bitcoin is the low fees, you wont get your funds frozen just because they wanna more documents or know where the money cames, paypal is being used from some exchange members, but the risk to get frozen is always there, i do hope paypal open the borders to bitcoin, providing and option to exchange fiat to bitcoin, the same way they provide to others currencies already.

After reading some of the latest replies, I still don't get how you expect Bitcoin which is a cryptocurrency (Let's name it a normal currency here) to overcome a PAYMENT processor, PayPal is processing payments, it doesn't do anything else, you buy something off a website, use Paypal along with your Debit/Credit card or Balance. If you also think that Bitcoin will overcome Paypal by means of it getting accepted as a payment method, well, forget it. Some E-Shops might integrate it, but only a few.

I think bitcoin will overcome the paypal. Because first, bitcoin is becoming more pupular. It is ver easy to use with the different kinds of transactions. Next is that bitcoin has a very good potential in the market. But it should be use all over the world before bitcoin overcome paypal.
I think the bitcoin is more advanced, but the bitcoin is a very complicated one, it's just user-friendly, but the operations can not be undone.

Bitcoin favors the seller, has no chargeback and that is one thing that a buyer needs a "Guarantee or else" situation. PayPal on the other hand has a 180 day period for a chargeback which is good for the buyer, bad for the seller.

For me, bitcoin will not overcome paypal. They posses different characteristics or purpose in business industry. Bitcoin belongs to currency while paypal is use to the faster, safer way to send money and make online payments.
Maybe the right word is that bitcoin will soon to be rise as worldwide's online payment because that is what PayPal's services brings to everyone.

I think no. It might come a long way, but PayPal has some pros that bitcoin simply does not have. For the average user, being able to instantly transfer any kind of currency (except crypto, but that might change) is everything.
PayPal also has refund option, even though this is known to be exploited for scamming, it's very useful when the seller doesn't do what were agreed on. An insurance for the buyer.
PayPal also supports credit cards and bank transfers.

Although PayPal and Bitcoin both have an economy, they also have absolute market share. It becomes interesting to look into both reasonably to encounter opportunity and cross-examination.
I'd imagine the view of youth, whatever point is bought into the likelihood is that both are supreme. I'd say the market index and BTC exchange apply well.

Paypal is just steady or growing slowly but what I see on bitcoin is that is has grown so fast and has enormous development. I can already tell with this trend, bitcoin will surpass in terms of investment and popular any popular payment system now like paypal.

It will since it is one of its indirect objectives but not just yet. Paypal has made its way through the top by trial and error. They have years to correct and sort out and all the kinks and bugs in their system. They have earned their reputation and the trust of the people that use them. They have bettered their security all throughout these years that’s why Paypal will be hard to unseat from its throne. But it is not perfect and this is where Bitcoin can enter and earn its own reputation.

PayPal performs payments in local currency and therefore under the control of the government. Bitcoin has long been able to destroy all the competitors in this market, but it needs to get under control. I think that such attempts by the state to be. They will establish control through the exchange. Do I need it?

I think there is a high chance for Bitcoin to replace Paypal in the future, unless Paypal improve its overall system, I see no advantage to use it as a payment processor at the moment. There are a lot of disadvantages using Paypal for me, I have to worried about the other party creating a dispute on the payment sent to me, secondly the transaction cost of Paypal is way too high if you compare it versus Bitcoin.

The Bitcoin has a lot of brand obstacles to overcome. As well as employment concerns for beginner and technologically retarded (ie seniors). Mobile apps are growing at a fast pace so I'm sure these problems will be resolved quickly. As long as the market holds, we should have to worry about.
But it is definitely faster and safer than PayPal. There is no third party involved in the exchange, so yes I hope BTC will not replace PayPal in the end.

Just thought I'd share my opinion on it, yes I think BTC and cryptocurrencies will overtake Paypal and money remittance companies such as Western Union and Moneygram.
