Bitcoin has already overcome Paypal in total market cap. Paypal is so awful that some people actually compare Coinbase to it.

Just looking at how many transactions are going on every minute tells it all. It is true that Paypal are connected to different online stores but when it comes to money transfer, surely bitcoin beats them. If bitcoin goes thru all the ruckus that will happen to it then it can go way above Paypal.
It is just a matter of time. Paypal is a renowned method of payment and the number of its user is huge, no doubt. However, the number of transaction being made in bitcoins nowadays is far above than Paypal and bitcoin is still a young boy. With its progress rate, we can say that it will overcome Paypal in near future.

Do you think that sometime in the future, Bitcoin might overcome Paypal, as it scales in capacity and userbase over the years? We already have the ability to create our own marketplace with OpenBazaar, that uses Bitcoin as its payment method, so it should be no surprise that the combination of these two may be a fierce competition for both eBay and Paypal. Nevertheless, feel free to vote on the poll above and express your opinion about it, if desired. I think the Bitcoin future will over Paypal. Because of the advantages that Bitcoin brings to the user is very much, besides, Bitcoin also protect the user so people are more and more known. Finally, it depends on the time that the states accept it. It is the biggest impact factor Bitcoin to be able to overcome Paypal

I am certain it truly is previously doing work in the right direction, the infant steps have been taken, and it is obvious by the increase of no of people coming to Bitcoin. You will find a university that accepts Bitcoin as payment, swizz has opened its doorways for Bitcoins. Dubai use it to. I am confident someplace the big brass of paypal are searching at btc and pondering how to work it out in the around long term. Let's hope for the best.

Why do you think so? Bitcoin is now really can not compete with PayPal because there is a pending procedure for trade for bitcoin, but this possibility will appear. From that moment PayPal not likely to stay on the market.

Paypal is a renowned method of payment and the number of its user is very huge and many people trust it, in the other Bitcoin is still a growing baby that has many obstacles. most people don't have any idea about, but it is gaining the trust of people slowly which is good for its stability. In my opinion BTC will surpass Paypal in the future.

Yeah. With all the benefits that Bitcoin brings, it could easily replace PayPal with enough user acceptance and adoption. What's more is that once the fees for Bitcoin decline, it will become a more attractive solution for merchants to start their businesses with it. It will be only a matter of time before people start getting into Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies towards mainstream adoption. Once their underlying issues such as the ability to scale for a wider audience are solved, it will pave the way towards rivaling well-known centralized payment processors. Since Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are decentralized, they give freedom for the people, allowing them complete control over their funds, unlike Paypal where they could freeze your account within any circumstances. Therefore, I believe that as Bitcoin matures into a solid cryptocurrency, it will become one step closer towards rivaling centralized payment solutions, eventually leaving no choice but to adopt the pioneer cryptocurrency or become left behind. Just my opinion

Bitcoin can not defeat the payment system. It is inappropriate to compare two different directions. Bitcoin can only be compared with crypto-currencies, not with payment systems or conventional currencies.

I doubt it. not i doubt the bitcoin about this. but how is the bitcoin property itself, and in my opinion, bitcoin and paypal will run respectively. and we all know that paypal is the most popular online payment tool. both have their own advantages, but if that happens I would strongly agree as a bitcoin user.

In terms of volume we have already surpassed paypal, but in terms of transactions, ecommerce transaction there is still a road to go.. not a long road, because the last couple of years we have made a tremendous step to bypass Paypal in every financial aspect.

It will be quite difficult. Paypal is having partnerships with major retailers such as Ebay and Amazon. So it will be tough for Bitcoin to overtake it. Also, Paypal is 100% legal in many of the countries, while the legal status of Bitcoin is not clear.

Well, who knows. Nowadays, nothing is impossible online. Only time can tell if bitcoin can overcome paypal. After all, it's not only about bitcoin and paypal, there are hundreds, and maybe even thousands of currencies online and payment portals available. Paypal users, especially the happy campers will definitely stay using the platform. However, there's always a competition and if PayPal won't do anything to innovate their service, they will be defeated by not only bitcoin but by other new generation payment portals available in the world wide web nowadays.

I was just recently reading another post on I thinkit was coindesk or cointelegraph, that bitcoin marketcap has already surpassed the marketcap of paypal per year. So from it sounds like, we are well past that and on our way to challenging the credit card companies now! It would be interesting to see the numbers and data on how much USD value marketcap VISA or MASTERCARD is, and how far away we are from it

We are waiting for a surprise from the bitcoin community and developers, maybe someday bitcoin can be officially accepted for payment. maybe this time is still far to beat paypal, but the opportunity is always open, the main factor is because paypal legal and taxable so all countries accept paypal.

Bitcoin is currency while paypal is a payment platform. I don't see the relevance but bitcoin can Be accepted as payment as i wish 😊
