I think we have already overcome paypal with the market cap as proof that bitcoin already surpass paypal and also the acceptance of bitcoin in many countries surely many merchants has already accepted bitcoin as they're payment. As the demand for bitcoin goes higher and the price keeps increasing proves that there are many people using it.

Bitcoin has a real chance to overtake Paypal. The rate to send money is so much cheaper as well. If everyone would get on boars with Bitcoin, it would put them out of business for sure.

I really hope they do. Granted paypal handles fiat, but companies like paypal, ebay, and quickbooks all get away with crazy stuff with transactions. Can't wait till this happens.

I dont think they should overcome each other, but it be better if they can work together. It would be nice to have my paypal getting the option to have it either go to my bitcoin wallet or to my pocket to spend on other things.

According to my point of view we cannot precisely say that bitcoin will overcome paypal, if so happens it will take a long time. Paypal is supporting the cryptocurrency on its braintree payment platform. Braintree is a start up brought by paypal that creates tools for software developers to easily integrate payments into apps and websites. Braintree is allowing developers on its platform effectively flip a switch and add Bitcoin to the payment methods they accept. Bitcoin as a protocol, where there is an alternative way to move money separate from the legacy payments infrastructure.

I am sure it's already working in the right direction, the baby steps have been taken, and it's evident by the rise of no of people coming to Bitcoin. There's a school that accepts Bitcoin as payment, swizz has opened its doors for Bitcoins. Dubai use it to. I am sure somewhere the big brass of paypal are looking at btc and wondering how to work it out in the near future. Let's hope for the best.
I strongly believe bitcoin has overcome paypal or is even about to even though i don't have the facts yet because a lot of people like myself and friends now find it easier to move money around using bitcoin and with a lot of exchanges springing up i bet the world will start ditching paypal and the likes soon especially when the merchants begin to see the light. I don't even understand why we compare bitcoin over paypal. They're totally different things. They have different objectives, functions and features. Bitcoin is not only a payment method, is a way of investment. The way kn paying online transaction that is the reason why they compare it but let just think that bitcoin has no intention to change or to compete because bitcoin making a new name in teens of currency and for me yes it will overcome paypal but not in the way of competing.

I think that one day paypal will allow somehow to send bitcoins over its platform. Or integrate it in some kind of level to work with it.

bitcoin certainly has the potential to replace bitcoin and it is a lot better than paypal even. but in my opinion there are two things that are preventing this to happen. 1) is the volatile price: when price of bitcoin is not stable, people aren't seeing bitcoin as a currency. instead they treat it as an investment and nobody uses investment to buy things. 2) the block size: which is making the transactions pile up in the mempool, making things slow and increase the amount of fees by a great deal.
I agree, bitcoins can replace paypal because paypal has a lot of fraud and a chance that your account can be hack or banned for whatever reason but the only things that preventing for this to happen is the bitcoin unstable price and its transaction fees.

Paypal will adopt to bitcoin because they cannot beat the decentralized system and with the value that has increased significantly, more people will transfer their investment and they will use it to support bitcoin as in the end they will get the benefit. The trend of the future is decentralization so I will not be surprise if bitcoin will become the most popular payment system online.

Do you think that sometime in the future, Bitcoin might overcome Paypal, as it scales in capacity and userbase over the years? We already have the ability to create our own marketplace with OpenBazaar, that uses Bitcoin as its payment method, so it should be no surprise that the combination of these two may be a fierce competition for both eBay and Paypal. Nevertheless, feel free to vote on the poll above and express your opinion about it, if desired. I voted bitcoin can overcome Paypal . Bitcoin needs a common payment method for all bills. Bitcoin can compete with paypal, this can happen in the future . .

Right now this could be a good example. I could tell that bitcoin when compared to an animal is like an eagle while paypal could be the snake. So we already know what would happen when they faced off. Bitcoin is being used around the world and it surpass paypal's daily transaction by 2000% There's no competition at all.

2000% seems such a random number for me. Where did you even get that number? Even when let's say bitcoin ever surpass Paypal's number of transactions per day, it's totally possible that some people are accidentally boosting this number because of the automated pay outs and cash outs on different bitcoin paying websites. Last time I checked, Paypal has got a lot more number of transactions per day compared to bitcoins. I bet it's because all of the major online shops like Amazon and eBay are accepting Paypal while bitcoin is left out. All credit/debit cards can be connected to a Paypal account so most people are using it. While bitcoin, well you have to buy it from the exchanges and most people are afraid to do that. Paypal is just a lot more intuitive or newbie friendly than bitcoin. But today, the population of bitcoin are increasing more and more and people are trying their best to learn about bitcoin because bitcoin allows you to earn money online. I mean, who doesn't want an extra income?

I voted yes because maybe in the near future it will overcome paypal. As bitcoin shows potential to the crypto-currency world it not impossible that one day it will surpass what paypal had reached. Lets just wait and be positive that it will happen.

Bitcoin and PayPal are different things. Bitcoin is a crypto currency whereas paypal is an international money transfer plateform.so Bitcoin can not overcome PayPal.

To be honest, most of the business are using Bitcoin and the community the people make money online also using Bitcoin to replace Paypal. The Bitcoin function can helps us anonymous our identity and our location. Unlike Paypal, Bitcoin does not have any limit to withdraw or deposit money with any new address or old address.
