Bitcoin should not be compared with Paypal. Bitcoin can be the king of all coins, but there is no competition with PayPal. The paypal has been in the center since many days, so everyone knows about Paypal, but Bitaken has not yet spread to all. So Bitcoin's idea is not in everyone. So we have to do something like that Bitcoin's ideas can spread among everyone.

yes it will because paypal are very strict they dont support like  gambling site, PTC and traffic exchange site that is why they used bitcoin as payment method. paypal need you to verify account so you can cashout, there is possible that your account will get freeze, thats why many people jump into bitcoin no hassle Shocked

Do you think that sometime in the future, Bitcoin might overcome Paypal, as it scales in capacity and userbase over the years?

We already have the ability to create our own marketplace with OpenBazaar, that uses Bitcoin as its payment method, so it should be no surprise that the combination of these two may be a fierce competition for both eBay and Paypal.

Nevertheless, feel free to vote on the poll above and express your opinion about it, if desired.  Grin

the main difference between Paypal and BTC is the possibility to revert a payment in case the seller did something wrong (sent different item, didn't ship anything and so on) so you can open a controvercy with Paypal.
With BTC, unless you buy something by hand, you can't get back your money after the transaction.
What would be amazing is Paypal accepting your BTC wallet as funding your paypal account, in this way i guess there will be the possibility to revert your transaction with a sort of payment shield (think about Paypal acting as an escrow for your transaction).

Paypal is a worldwide payment method, Bitcoin isn't yet. I don't BTC think it'll go further than it already go. There are so many other currency that intend to be what Paypal is at this moment, e.g., Utrust and Monetha. Nonotheless, I don't believe in neither. Perhaps, my mind is blocked by what i'm seeing already. Paypal domaining over the world. To take control over it, needs scalability, speedy transactions and confiability.

From the point the found of isn't stooped like Bitcoin, so bitcoin can not overcome paypal now. Paypal is controlled by money related associations of the legislature . It resembles an online payment channel for bank for buy and installment and it encourages purchasers and vendors to be protected with all exchange on the web. Bitcoin isn't even now acknowledged by government with the goal that bitcoin exchanges are considered as unlawful exchanges . Expect Bitcoin will be acknowledged by government then we can make certain bitcoin that can overcome paypal later on.

Paypal has potential to overcome bitcoin, this may happen in near future.
Technically paypal data is more attractive than bitcoin.
Transaction time, number of wallets, average transaction cost, number of transaction is more in paypal.
Bitcoin is much volatile currency, because of this people fear to dare and use it as a currency.
Instead they accept bitcoin as a good tool/instrument of long term investment.
The main reason you’ll probably lose less money through PayPal is because your funds are only converted once means Euros are immediately converted to dollars where as in bitcoin, you have to convert Euros to bitcoin and then again bitcoin to dollars.
Both have some advantages and disadvantages but paypal is easy & economical to use.

I beg to differ, bitcoin is international and useable almost everywhere there is internet and so can be used but paypal is just a globally accepted form of payment with government regulations backing it; something bitcoin lacks but it doesn't prevent its usage either.

Bitcoin has a great potential in our market. The continues improvements and performance of bitcoin can brings them from lots of opportunities and victories.
Since bitcoin received lots of good feedback from its clients they can be a threat not only in Paypal but in a whole banking industry.
Who knows, that bitcoin can might be like Paypal or even more in future.

We should differentiate these two useful methods of payment.
Bitcoin, is very convenient to use. Bitcoin wallet is used for sending payments and receiving payments. Paypal is also a wallet where you can send and receive payments.
But the difference these two things are, Paypal can bounce back the transaction or money from sending or receiving. But bitcoin cannot. So, I might consider bitcoin can overcome Paypal.

My answer is maybe because paypal is legalized and bitcoin is not legal for some country. The government find a way to make taxes and regulate on bitcoin users to legalized using bitcoin. Maybe in the near future bitcoin overcome paypal!

I think that someday (not in the next 5 years of course) bitcoin will become more popular and faster than PayPal.

I think that bitcoin is going to grow so much it will happen sooner or later.

I can also see bigger trust for a growing market because the amount of different kind of shops accepting bitcoin as a valid payment method has rise pretty much now.

Yes ,bitcoin already overcome paypal.,before bitcoin is not that known as paypal when it comes to purchasing and using it as payment option, but now users left paypal and stick to bitcoin because of its anonymous and flexibility when purchasing online.

About the nature, Bitcoin and Paypal are the digital currencies, but unlike Paypal, Bitcoin is a crypto currency and it can not control by anyone while Paypal affected by the rule, policies of the government. So, if the people need to have a currency is really freedom, that is only Bitcoin.

I dont think so, because the two are different platforms. Paypal is just an extension to send and receive money online. While Bitcoin is widely known as a cryptocurrency, that can be use for investments and trading sites.

There is sometimes things we can not be sure of, but about the fact that Bitcoin will replace PayPal, well, we can be sure. There are simply way too many flaws for PayPal to survive. There are limitations, restrictions, huge fees, etc. Bitcoin will make many people unemployed soon !
