just done something really stupid  Undecided

Got an email from support@localbitcoin.com saying my account had been flagged for fraudulent activity.

checked my account and nothing, opened up electru grabbed an address and then send my funds to the wallet. incoming transaction.

check the support desk no ticket. check back at email and obviously the link contains a hidden phishing address, phew close call but all is safe.

Go to electrum to send my funds back over to LBTC, need them to have online adverts active, upon entering the password all i get is invalid.

Turns out i sent them to a wallet that was generated on the 6th of December on my run around laptop and i don't appear to know the password at the moment  Cool tried several combinations but nope..... must have been feeling smart that day and NO i did not right down the seed as i was actually generating the wallet whilst giving my friend a step by step run down on how to setup electrum, why i didn't follow my own instructions of remembering password and keeping a copy of the seed safe i will probably never live down  Embarrassed

Sounds like a phishing attempt so hopefully you didn't click the link in the email.  If so, reset your password and have 2FA enabled.

who's the local brute force expert?

Call this ponzi conductor and tell him to rollback the blockchain.

If this trash ever gets mass adopted, i'm telling you, in 10 years you would be surprised to see a single bitcoin in existence. Memory loss, scam loss, backup loss, virus loss and theft loss. Imagine the comedy.

Anyways, I'm wasting key presses trying to enlighten people. I'll leave you here with marcus_of_desgustus and his fantastic theories about illuminati, the bank cartels, the collapse of the world, aliens built the pyramids and other great fantasies that he dreams at night while holding dearly to his fluffy beanies in his Egg DoDo Baby Basket.

Heyhey,

Might be able to help you out. I'm a security specialist and know a lot about brute forcing passwords, seeds and private keys.
I have no idea how to prove honesty. I just like a challenge every now an then, and read your post.

If you feel like it, send me a PM. Even if you don't trust the situation enough, I could at least explain your options and chances of retrieval. All free of charge.

I'm new to the forum... Why do so many people get on here hating Bitcoin?  If they have nothing invested it seems like a waste of time unless their plan was to sell, bash and then buy in at a lower price.

Internet, hard money, anonymity. None of these things are a recipe for a happy community. I'm surprised things are as civilised on here as they are.

Usually it's people who thinks the bitcoin hypetrain is over and are mad that they didn't get a chance to capitalize on it.

Some are sosiopaths, but most are shorting bears who think they can move the price by shitting on everyone.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Retracement from Valentine's Day craziness seems to be done.

Hopefully $230 will hold for now.

Those are the funny ones. They are so hung up about the past that they can't see what's ahead of them if they just shut up and board the train.

The comparisons to beanie babies and pogs are ridiculous. But if you are going to compare Bitcoin to a useless fad that became collectible you could sort of compare it to baseball cards.  As you know before the early 80's sports cards were produced in a limited quantity and many were destroyed or were lost because the lack of knowledge of future value (like bitcoin). Once popular (during the 80's) the card companies started overproducing "newer and better cards" to keep up with demand from people who saw others make good money off their old collections (like altcoins).  Hoping for a return from the investments card collectors in the 80's would be disappointed...  Point is, if any of the digital currencies has any chance of succeeding it will be Bitcoin due to the time of adoption and somewhat fair distribution due to lack of knowledge of potential value. So if you are bashing Bitcoin for some other shit coin have fun because it will be worthless some day.

Some are talking their book.

Some are angry/jealous that they missed single/double-digit coins.

Some have ulterior motives, such as feeling their altcoins or financial service businesses are threatened.

Some might even (according to some) be paid to spam FUD.

Most, however are just plain old-fashioned trolls.
