Anyone ever get the feeling that this is a little too easy? I mean, buy and hold is so simple and makes so much money. Doesn't seem right somehow that we can get rich by just waiting for the world to catch up to us. Not complaining, but it's weird.

It's normal that you have that "weird" feeling, because we are in an abnormal situation (being early holders of a successful asset). Don't you think early owners of oil rich land felt weird themselves during the oil boom? I am sure they did.
Yeah but many of those people just lucked out. In this case it's a matter of... literally seeing the future. And it's not even a difficult thing. Supply and demand, simple.

I think my main problem here is... if it is so simple, why can so few of us see it?

Not really. It was somewhat similar to Bitcoin... An example:

- There were land owners (many regular farmers) that happened to own oil rich land -incidently BAD land for farming in many cases-
- When the oil started to boom they were offered to buy the land from them. Many sold for "pennies".
- Price of oil rich land kept rising, many sold on the way.
- There were people which were not initially owners of oil rich land, but started to buy that land from its previous owners.
- In the end, it was the hodlers (or the holding buyers) which profited the most.

Now apply that same reasoning to that example: "In this case it's a matter of... literally seeing the future. And it's not even a difficult thing. Supply and demand, simple." Yeah.... but many "lucky" owners of oil rich land sold too soon. Also only some people went to go buy that land while the price kept increasing (for fear of a crash... it's a bubble! it's a bubble! you know).

In the end, everything is part luck part vision. You either needs LOTS of luck, LOTS of vision... or a mix of both.

And.. yes.. I do also have that same feelings sometimes Smiley

That sounds... reasonable, actually. I mean I know it is, and as the guy above said the preceding years were rough, but in this moment I still feel almost like some kind of cheat. Guess it just takes getting used to.

Yeah, well, look at those insanely rich Saudi sheiks.... They got used to it surprisingly well. No more nomadic living through deserts trading camels for young women like their grandparents did.

mornin' Jimbo

Mornin' Jojo.

I just got a call from a friend who has played the stock market and PMs for decades. After watching my involvement with Bitcoin for a few years, he finally broke down and bought his first coins this summer. I think it was my earning my first million that woke him up. I helped him buy and set up a Trezor and taught him how to buy the dips and get the best prices at his local ATMs.

Needless to say, he's tickled pink at the return on his investment so far, even though it's still very tiny, less than a whole coin I believe.

Seems that now all his "financial advisors" are screaming for him to buy Bitcoin, citing Wall Street adoption. Now he's talking about calling his brokers and selling off a good portion of his stocks to buy more coins.

2 years ago his advisors were suggesting he buy Bitcoin and I suggested he listen to them, but instead he kept buying stocks and PMs. Every time he came over he'd be touting his most recent stock-du-jour while watching Bitcoin prices relentlessly rising and doing nothing.

Now he wants to dive in gung-ho. Go figure.  Roll Eyes

Better late than never... hahahahaha...

And, it seems quite likely that there are going to be a lot of folks have their come to Jesus moment at an even higher price point.

Well this little show didn't last long, unless this is just an intermission.

Dropped a grand in anticipation, then started off with a bang, jumping back up a grand.

Now it seems we're right back where we started... the standard $15k. Talk about really quick, a premature ejaculation. Wham, bam, thank you ma'am.

Maybe there's more to come, but so far this has been underwhelming.

I've been thinking about this as well. I mean, after a futures market and eventual ETFs, what other "legitimacy event" do the Average Joes of the world need? What else is it going to take for them to wake up start taking Bitcoin seriously?

I'm guessing what they need is all the world's MSM websites, financial experts, Nobel prize winning economists, Warren Buffett, Jamie Dimon, and maybe even Prof. Bitcorn himself to tell the people that Bitcoin is "A-Ok" and they should get invested.

What people think BOA patent news means: mass adoption of crypto

What it actually means: Cease and desist orders to all existing crypto exchanges, and either no use of the patent or use for proprietary bank coins

Ah, you're a wee ray of sunshine.

I know nothing about patents. How is it possible that something that's been operating for years across the world thousands of times over can suddenly be restricted like this when they had nothing to do with its creation?

Can I patent KFC or Taylor Swift and fire them?

The reason is that when you are a Tera Beara (aka Tera Bera), then you are in the business of spreading FUD, trolling, which largely constitutes nonsense and distractions.

No big deal, I'm not really all that much into popcorn anyway. Besides, the popcorn's just a figure of speech.

What I'm really chowing down to right now is a lovely 16 ounce wagyu striploin with baked potato, asparagus tips, parsnips, and sweet potato. And a glass of red, just a cheap french vin de table but nice nonetheless.

$45/lb for the wagyu but what the hell, I made a pisspot of money this week.

Good food is a good investment. Friends and health are far more valuable than money and good food is one of the cornerstones of good health. There is no healthier food than high quality meat.

The only way for them to build massive liquidity in XBT Futures is to buy LOTS of bitcoin. Which is like shoving the contents of Lake Superior through a backyard water hose. It will take them years of pumping.

You can now buy a Bitcoin in the future. But you can't have that Bitcoin in the future. And there's a premium. What's not to love?

Kind of, except it really wasn't that easy having to hold all the way through the great bear run of 2015/6. I see this as our reward for having to go through that.

That is so right. I went through all lows, getting ridiculed by every single family member. I will forgive, but not forget. Or was it the other way around ?

Either way, i managed to get my girlfriend of 30 years on board, by forcing her, god forgive me, but it was a good move. You won´t believe what she said up to here. But she´s my number one. Anyway. She can´t escape my love.

Don´t we get rewarded sometimes, and deserve it ?
