A gain is a gain no matter what. If you make a gain on BTC and then buy a computer with said BTC, you still pay capital gains.

It's worse than that. Long term capital gains have a preferred tax treatment over regular income or barter transactions. So, you're best off liquidating BTC on an exchange and then using fiat to buy goods.  Undecided
