Don't mean to break up the party but I like to read this thread so I will just post here…

Bitcoin value listed on top 10 Yahoo trending news stories.  It's the first time I've seen this even through the latest bubble.  I read Yahoo news a bunch.

Happy New Year all!  Hope 2014 is a good one for us!!

Good times still ahead. I just put this in the main discussion forum...

Bitcoin posts record annual gain: 5,317% in 2013

Bitcoin has posted a record annual gain, measured in USD.

At the start of Jan 1st, 2013, Mt Gox had a bid/ask of 13.45-55, or mid-price of $13.50
At the close of Dec 31st Bitstamp and BTC-E have 730.4-732 & 730-733, or mid-price of $731.35
(Mt Gox is not comparable because its US$ withdrawals do not take < 1 week, hence its bitcoin price is biased upwards).

Trace Mayer's statistics for previous years, now with 2013 completed:

2009  4,867% (uncertain price discovery period)
2010     387%
2011  1,320%
2012     170%
2013  5,317%

One observation is that, so far, odd-numbered years exhibit high-growth, while even-numbered years are consolidation/growth periods.

Even 170% gains in 2014 will be stellar. Happy New Year to all Bitcoin holders!

So is it a stretch to assume that everyone has rushed Gox to panic buy, and crashed it?

Wish in one hand and shit in the other. See which gets filled first and report back to us.

Both if you wish for shit!!  Grin

I lol'd so hard.

And please someone tell me what's going on with that growing grim reaper in ChartBuddy... it's making me uneasy...

EDIT: he's got a sand clock as well... time is running up?? movement imminent?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Father_Time

Quote
Father Time is usually depicted as an elderly bearded man, dressed in a robe and carrying a scythe and an hourglass or other timekeeping device (which represents time's constant one-way movement, and more generally and abstractly, entropy).
[...]
Around New Year's Eve many editorial cartoons use the convenient trope[1] of Father Time as the personification of the previous year (or "the Old Year") who typically "hands over" the duties of time to the equally allegorical Baby New Year (or "the New Year") or who otherwise characterizes the preceding year.

EU has the worst politicians EVER. All the wrong people to all the wrong places. No arguments, just random movements here and there to save their precious "unification". Where's Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, Helmut Kohl, Konstantinos Karamanlis... those were politicians with balls. What we have here is their cheap imitations. Employees of big corporations, that play it "Leaders" in their monopoly games. I just hope it falls apart in pieces. If it's not bitcoin; let it be something else, I really don't give a rat's ass' shit. I just want better people governing. Not those clowns.

Maybe it's because I'm drunk, but I surely won't take back even a piece of what I've wrote. Good night people. Happy new year. Cya tomorrow, hopefully with not to much hangover.

the clock has flipped the year and we're instantly seeing heavy buying pressure.

why?

well-funded startups/investors/gamblers acting "on plan" are going into "btc-acquisition-phase". they have bots and/or trading staff.

look at the buying-pattern on stamp. big money wants in.

let's welcome the new money!
