Thing is, none of that stuff happens in developed countries.
American weather is fooking mental compared to us soft Europeans. I've probably done 20-30,000 miles around the US. A lot of the time the sky was assaulting me in ways I've never experienced before. It's still just various forms of water. The longest powerout in my country in lived memory was maybe a few hours. And our winters are as rough as they come. We don't make fun of other nations for no reason, it's just not our style. It's because they are worth making fun of.

dudes the ETH hardfork is a bit less of 72 hr away. prepare for massive turn around in market come soon. this will be my firm predictions for coming days.
ETH will cause the MOON to come.
Huh? Are you talking about ETH, BTC, various other parts of "crypto." Since this is a BTC thread, can you explain more specifically the connection that you see between an ETH hardfork and BTC prices, and to what extent are the correlated, if at all, from your perspective?

If BTC declines, ETH hardfork won't have any effect on ETH's value and ETH will remain a few percents more down as compared to bitcoin. That's the only correlation I'm aware of between these two...

and thats on land. the ocean is less forgiving.
Can we all move in with you? It sound very reassuring there. In return for food, power and guns I can offer toast making, as long as it's your bread and you're not too fussy, and I'll keep my room tidy. depends. youll have to meet our cats standards, which are much higher than ours. you would also have to be ok with extremely loud music at all times of the day and night, mostly pink floyd, rush, lynyrd skynyrd and other southern rock, and punk. and the music the wife and i play on our instuments; hers played well and mine that sucks. plus random weapons fire at any time. Sounds like my kinda people. As long as the random weapons fire was responsibly directed, that is.

LOL right? When the guy next door to me moved in (the dude with the 69 Camaro drag car I have posted before) the first words he said to me were "hi, were your loud new neighbors". Well, my band is in the front room, half stack, 400W of bass, drummer is a hitter, PA...we get along swimmingly. I have always preferred to have noisy neighbours so that they don't complain if/when I want to be really noisy too. Would hate to have a "full silence lover maniac" as neighbour... especially one that wouldn't understand that the problem is theirs and should better isolate their home or buy some fucking earplugs if they are so maniac about it. I would end up punching you in the face. Probably repeatedly. And worse if eventually getting out of prison for it was on the table. I have this theory that humans fundamentally do not like other humans. We simply need one another to survive.

And incredibly, you're wrong far more often than right. Do you use the same principles when making your spectacularly wrong predictions about BCH and SV price movement?
I can admit those were bad calls. Financially. So far. But from a technical perspective.... I anticipate the market will come around to the superior solution. Admittedly, becoming less sure of this as time goes on. What's the saying? Oh yeah. The market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent.Dollar cost averaging and accumulation based incrementalism works much better when an asset is long term uptrending and has solid fundamentals. Of course, there are no guarantees regarding which assets fit these criteria, so we make our best assessment about the asset(s) in order to figure out what assets have the best fit (and probabilities for fit). In the "crypto" (mostly, I hate that fucking word) space, only bitcoin deserves any kind of meaningful assessment of long term uptrending fundamentals. All the rest are copy cats and they do not really achieve bitcoin's soundness of money, which is the main criteria for consideration of fundamentals. If you attempt to apply such principles to other crypto assets, such as bcash (which should realistically be known as an ongoing attack vector on bitcoin, snake oil, sham, pump and dump) or any of the other shitcoins, then you are merely short-term gambling, rather than long-term investing based on sound principles. So, if your mistake was to conclude that bcash was the real bitcoin (or going to become the real bitcoin), you were really taken for a ride (or perhaps wishful fantasylandia thinking?), when that kind of assessment should have been quite clear by most anyone who had been involved in the bitcoin space for any meaningful amount of time. I could understand that perhaps some folks could have been reasonably fooled into some of the bcash narrative, and perhaps scared into hedging into bcash with perhaps 20% or so of their crypto value, but any amount more than that would have been (and continue to be) imprudent, if not embarrassingly foolish.

When I was younger I was able to sleep in the middle of a death metal concert. Now at my middle age, I can't stand a slightest noise. Not just while I sleep but also when I am awake. Sometimes I just want to strangle the people who talk way too loudly. I want to shout at their faces "SHUT THE FUCK UP!" Btw I bought some more today.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/2019/01/14/russia-plans-tackle-us-sanctions-bitcoin-investment-says-kremlin/Russia is preparing an investment in Bitcoin to replace the US dollar as a reserve currency in a bid to tackle US sanctions, according to a Russian economist with close ties to the Kremlin. Cryptocurrencies have seen a surge of interest in Russia, with President Vladimir Putin expressing interest in the digital assets in recent months. Mr Ginko believes Bitcoin and the wider cryptocurrency industry now account for 8pc of Russia’s GDP, and investment to bolster the country’s reserves with Bitcoin could start as soon as February.
“[The] Russian government is about to make a step to start diversifying financial reserves into Bitcoin since Russia [is] forced by US sanctions to dump US Treasury bonds and [take] back US dollars,” Mr Ginko said.
“These sanctions and the will to adopt modern financial technologies lead Russia to the way of investing its reserves into Bitcoin.”

Then how do you explain the monkey isolation experiments where the monkeys kept in isolation all go insane. Of course, there might not be such thing as an INTP monkey, or the ability for a monkey to entertain itself by playing Nintendo, so their only form of mental stimulation at all is by interacting with other monkeys. As for humans not liking each other, most animals are territorial and also have somewhat hardwired limits to maximum group size, so they're probably designed to be aggressive and kill each other when the limit is breached.

This is something I ponder on and off. That 1-3% figure is pretty far out. I'll bet there are people who've been reading this thread for longer than most of us have been here who've never even registered, let alone written anything. I'm sure it's easy to be intimidated by the astonishing power and paint-stripping insight of titanic intellects such as the one I happen to possess. I still think they should make themselves known. We need a lurker amnesty. Come on out. We won't hurt you. Finally, someone polite enough to invite the guy in the corner. I've been lurking since Spring 2012. AMA.

I went to Paris (on my way back from a winter trip to Thailand) in the hopes of seeing some legit riots. None were to be had, but disappointment was abundant. This is not an act. Everyone has something they like to do. For me, it's surviving dangerous situations. And the world is becoming increasingly feminized.
