Do you regularly do anything that actively challenges you mentally? Picking up new things (actively, not through osmosis) helps with concentration and accuracy.

Aye. Constantly. The spirit is willing but the hardware has been flushed away.
I find it easy to get lost in what seems like progress, but in this particular sense isn't.
This gets harder the more you do, since there are strong fundamental parallels between seemingly different things.

Basically, the more you're capable of, the easier it becomes to pick up new things because you get to recycle old skills. And while you'll learn more faster, you might actually be investing less energy due to the recycling.

I'd consider that passive learning and feel like that doesn't help you keep your edge with regard to focus and attention.

Perhaps looking out for that could help if you don't already.

You can take (some) drugs responsibly in ways that don't have any impact on your health span.

It'd also probably be quite cumbersome to shit billions and billions and billions of human bodies for replacements.

Billions? For what reason do you believe billions can afford this at any time in the next millennia. It will only be for the lucky few if available at all.
Economics of scale. Cost of production for everything is going down and with abundant energy (fusion) and advances in AI physical "things" will be virtually free. But producing all those bodies would still be less desirable than just getting some vaccine.

The planet is already overcrowded. That will not be allowed.

Sovereign nations are already settling transactions in Bitcoin.

Don’t blink.

Bitcoin is becoming the global reserve currency right before our eyes.

The International Monetary Fund is considering negative interest rates as a long term solution.

This includes ideas on getting people to stop saving and storing cash, effectively eliminating it.

Buy bitcoin, bye banks. 🔥

Somehow I feel goaded into a reply:

There's nothing funny about it and we won't be certain how much money we have lost (assertions will be difficult) until the legal process is complete and from my perspective it is mildly embarrassing - I can only imagine how others feel.  There is a modicum of hope that some money will be recovered though with all the lawyers and bean-counters involved, any amounts of cash and/or coin recovered is dwindling as they take their pound of flesh for services rendered.  I stand to lose some (or all) of the CAD I have on the QuadrigaCX exchange but thanks to jbreher for reminding me about the proof of keys, I transferred the Bitcoin held on QuadrigaCX back to my local wallets on Dec. 31st.

It's disheartening but nothing new in Bitcoin.  I've been screwed by Butterfly Labs on ASIC purchases, screwed by KNC miner who had my money for nearly a year without delivering my mining device or refunding my money(Bitcoin), I've been screwed out of funds when BTC-TC got shaken down by the SEC, screwed out of funds by creativex when he disappeared with investor funds from our mining operation bASIC Mining, screwed by ASICMiner (friedcat) when they went tits up and he disappeared after moving the shares from BTC-TC to Havelock Investments, slightly screwed over by AMHash (which may or may not have been mining at all), nearly screwed by Cryptsy though I never kept much on there as it was only used for exchanging my mined altcoin for Bitcoin, I had set up an account on GOX but never put money or coins in it fortunately, I've even been screwed on a coffee purchase using Bitcoin here on the forum.  Fuck.  Any normal person probably would have quit Bitcoin by now but I guess I'm a glutton for punishment.

I know you like percentages JJG so I'll give you two.  My CAD on deposit with QuadrigaCX (which I stand to lose) is ~300% of my total investment in Bitcoin or ~7% of the money I spent on cigarettes when I was young(er) and foolish(er).

Sorry about that and about my post which was really stupid(I'll edit it).
I honestly didn't think anybody here had lost any money in Quadriga.
For me it was just a small exchange, I hadn't even heard of it before this whole thing. Plus not many here in this thread seemed to care much about it.
Again, sorry.

Actually age is degradation in the cells.

When you are younger they regenerate fine.

The challenge is to halt or reverse this degradation.

I believe there are current successful studies, stimulating the repair function back into order.

That's the whole "senescent cells" approach. Basically tries to kill senescent cells (cells that stop dividing) which accumulate with age. Human trials are starting this year by the way.

I know a bit about this approach, called senolytics. One problem is that aging is not considered a disease, so companies have to pursue some aging effects indirectly.
However, senolytics do not significantly increase the lifespan (so far), but they do affect the 'healthspan'. In animal trials, older mice became more healthy, but the average life duration was not affected. There were similar preliminary results (first part) in a first pre-clinical human trial.

A typical senolytic cocktail includes desatinib and quercetin.
Medical grade desatinib is expensive and is an anti-cancer drug needing prescription, so, personally, I decided not to bother with sourcing it for a simple reason that we would probably have something better (less toxic) in 5-10 years.
Quercetin, on the other hand, is readily available, is a naturally occurring molecule (present in apple's peels and in blueberries), so i did try it for a month, which is what one clinical trial did.
No discernible effects one way or another, apart from feeling slightly better (a bit more "robust"), but, of course, I did not do a proper study, so it could be purely psychological.
I would probably pause for a month and do it again. Three weeks on D+Q was the duration of the first human trial, so i also used a similar time frame (without D).

@micgoossens

I never smoked anything in my life despite Weed growing in our backyard and my friends smoking only because it suits certain lifestyle according to them (it's your choice)

I do consider my body as a Temple. But, I am guilty of developing a taste for RUM for the last one year. Already had enough with this too and I am confident will quite. I am 30yo

Don't change anything!  There's nothing wrong with speaking your mind and if you're worried about me, I am not offended in the least.  Not many Canadians in this thread (or in the world for that matter) so I'm not surprised it wasn't talked about much.  Also, you don't have to be sorry for me.  I still have the most Bitcoin I have ever had - I was using my cash on QuadrigaCX to buy the dips.

Again I was looking at random btc addresses.

https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin/address/1Cp18yeabUg14CNp2HGwKisDoixiGgzmeT

Poor bastard probably dumped last of his bitcoins (18k) when he saw $0.32. Made himself a juicy $35k by selling 26750 coins. (96 Millions fucking DOllars today)

You can probably buy yourself a live forever upgrade with that amount nowadays.

Where are they selling "live forever upgrades" these days? Cause I see the world's wealthiest still turn into fossils and die. You'd think they'd buy it if available ...

Aging is a bitch, and I don't know how you get around it.

I have some pretty adventurous things planned in the near future, which will likely involve using some of my bitcoins.  Part of the reason is that I am considering using some of my bitcoins sooner than later is because I am having troubles concluding that I am going to live as long as I had previously thought.    Let's see how things play out, but there are real meat wagon limitations that should not be ignored.

.....the only plausible shot for life extension right now is crypto-preservation, which isn't capable of re-animating humans yet. But that's not necessarily relevant as the probability of reanimating via that route is larger than zero.
So with time, more people will be going that route even if reanimation hasn't been demonstrated yet. And once it's demonstrated in a mammal use will begin growing rapidly.

Lot's of third party risk, there.

Wasn't there an issue recently in which a lot of frozen embryos were "accidentally" thawed out due to electrical outage issues?

"Woops, we were going to revive (reanimate) him/her in 2140 (year of the mining of the last bitcoin), but s/he accidentally thawed out in 2054 because we forgot to hook up the back up generator, so cells are no longer viable. blah blah blah."

Near break of the day
behold larger bitcoin runs
at the perfect bear

------
We can see a shift in market direction as the bear channel has been clearly violated on multiple time scales as we move to close out the week in trading. Despite this the bears are still pressing for advantage as the price has retraced its path backwards to previous levels.

1h

On the daily chart we can see the strong rejection as the chikou span encounters the resistance of the tenkan sen. Unless this level is breached we will most likely see a sideways and downward trend develop until the beginnings of March. #dyor

Sadly the problem with the transplant business is that it doesn’t help your brain when it turns to mush. And turn to mush it does.

And the sort of anaesthetics required for transplant business are strongly mush inducing.

Better we focus on doing the best we can with what we have imho.
