Jack dorsey does not fuck around... whoaza... that was quick.

That is exactly the incentive I need to set up an LN node.

I've been strongly considering buying one of the new easy-mode LN devices like the Casa Hodl.

just do it. every WO hat should run a lightning node. I ordered mine last week. was considering to publicly announce that everytime a fuckin´big blocker posts in the WO thread I will order a casa node.

Yeh lets abandon the Bitcoin Network and jump on xrp version 2 lightning network (LN) instead. Bitcoin Network no longer needed, lets just stop legacy support now and and its done with it.  Mining, a proven way of work done, and given value to Bitcoin, lets deviate from it.

A bitcoiner is against turning the true nature of bitcoin, into whats becoming core-centric, commercialised network crap.
Bitcoin was born to get away from that crap of centralist capitalism, and yet stupid people want it to bcome the same crap as what was available before 2009.

Deburden the bitcoin network. by promoting other networks, altcoins, central services is not a Bitcoiner.

LN is just the same as 0 confirmation on Bitcoin network, instant and same level of trust,

I'd like to run a LN node. Initial funding will come from some small profits I made in the current wave of volatility. I have the latest bitcoin client (Core  0.17.1) running on Linux. Which LN client do you think is the best choice at the moment?

Depends on what do you want to achieve. If you just need to make some payments via lightning every now and then, just go for a lightning wallet. If you want to run a node, provide liquidity to the network, process payments on a large scale - I would agree with BobLawblaw and suggest LND. Based on experience we had with it for more than a half year it proved to be more robust and stable implementation in comparison to c-lightning and ACINQ/eclair.

I was seriously considering proposing a "WO Lightning Channel Crew" thread - discuss making public and private channels between ourselves. Discuss game theory, etc.

Ultimately recognized it would not be possible to do so without breaking OpSec due to needing to expose an IP. Not willing to risk that, at this time.

I don't use TOR for performance reasons.

VPN. No performance issues there - should you choose a good provider. OpSec check.
Nice idea. It would motivate me to run a node I've been thinking forever.

Going to break 4k, are we?

Didn't we already do that a month or so ago?
I fail to see the wow factor in that, just normal volatility.
It's because we're showing more evidence of it reversing.

Nah, it's too early for that, we have several more months sideways to look forward to.
I'll be glad if I'm wrong, but I'm probably not.

I would say you are both right and wrong Wink

We have bottomed and yes we have several more months of sideways.

pish tosh

I would say you are both right and wrong.

You are right about the sideways.

But there's plenty of room yet for a stab down to the dark side.

I'd even prefer it that way.

I'll bet you a litecoin?

Anyone here have one of those casa hodl nodes?

I mean, what is stopping to replicate the software and run it on your own raspi+hdd?

Does it include some state of the art proprietary software like a gui/menu system for easy management or what?

I am ok with business doing business, of course, but I am surprised anyone haven't already come with a full free software implementation otherwise the premium for the convenience of a "ready-to-go" device wouldn't be so high.

That looks sweet. I am not a techie so LN has looked too much set up thus far, but this looks 'turnkey' enough for my tastes - plus it's a full BTC node, so I do my bit for the network.

On my wish list, will wait until it's not three weeks delivery (which implies stocks are low / out of stock).

In order to improve security for Casa customers we plan to open source as much of our trust-critical code as possible.

As a first big step, today we are open sourcing the code for the Casa Node. We are also announcing the first parts of a responsible disclosure and bug bounty program.

It looks like that "open sourcing" is something relatively recent starting two weeks ago and also that it is not clear if it will include ALL software. That would explain the current premium.

The only way too lose money buying in the $3000's is by not HODLING long enough. Any downside to $2000 - $4000 range will look like perfect entry on the chart 2 years from now. Write this down.

I will take it if Hairy won't.

I will wager 1 LTC we have already seen the bottom of this bear market.  That is, it will not go lower than 3122.

Suggest period of wager is until Dec 31 2019, or we go over 7500 on Stamp in USD (or under 3122) - whichever is sooner?

Edited for clarity.
