Rick woke me up this morning before he took off to work, and mentioned something about getting sushi tonight if he were to arrive home earlier than usual this evening.

First words out of my mouth this morning, I swear to Jah, "Sushi tonight ? What day is it ?!"

Rick couldn't stop laughing at how I've utterly embraced retired life, and just DGAF about the daily grind any more, while muttering he can't wait to retire himself.

I see corn had a nice growth-spurt overnight. Verr nice.

Feeling a bit bored with life, and decided that I'm having a lot of fun buying up chunks of dip. Want at least 1 more full dip-acquired BTC, for reasons mostly dealing with satisfying my degenerate gambling predilections. 37% of the way there already.

HODL strong, brothers.

Oh Bob I do worry. I mean, I know it's only ~one coin, but I just don't want to see it losing it's value, thereby affecting your mood further. Ach you're stronger than all that, sorry. Last night's price hoik was fun, but are we really not going to have an ugly correction. I can't trust it at the moment, which is probably exactly what they want.

I feel there may be an ugly correction to $6,xxx but even if there is, would it really be a huge problem?
Sure it’d be a shock but we’re on track to get to where we want to be plus I have a round number target in my head of how many coins I want before it goes parabolic.

There are positives & negatives to every price swing. Let’s just enjoy the ride because we will see six figures per coin during this cycle, I’m certain of it.

Shitcoin Minimalist

Bitcoin is the least risky investment in a high risk investment category. Its health does not depend on altcoins, but rather the health of altcoins depend on it.

This is not true and is a widely held myth amongst so called "maximalists" who tend to view the market through the arbitrary lens of a single asset - commonly known as the "monopolist" view.

Diversity in the asset class has pulled in demand out of proportion to the growth in supply or the effect of internal competition. That's not uncommon in economies.

I once lived in a street which had 1 coffee shop. The price of a cup of coffee was about the average for a residential area. Later another one appeared, then a restaurant. Over the years (about 2 decades) the number of coffee shops/bars increased to around 20-30. The price of a cup of coffee is now about 50% above that in other areas. A glass of wine is about 2-3 times the price.

The influence of "competition" worked in reverse because the aggregate impact it had on "selling the street" as an attractive area to visit far outweighed the adverse effect of internal competition amongst commercial outlets trading at that site.

That's what's happening with the crypto-asset market and is also why bitcoin depends on altcoins as much as they depend on it. Without technologically superior hedges, supporting trading pairs, diversified access to the crypto-asset markets, financial specialisation and derivative platforms, bitcoin itself would never have seen the growth it has.

Wrong. Bitcoin is valuable because it has unforgeable costliness. Your analogy does not hold because Bitcoin has no competitors. No altcoin has unforgeable costliness.

Whatever value Bitcoin has as a transactional currency (or asset, if you prefer) for sheep to pump altcoins with is marginal, at best, but ultimately will tend toward zero.

On the downside though, I think it might lead to some thinking why do I need BTC when I can use the facebook "trusted" coin

Only boomers are using facebook these days, and only they will have this kind of thought.

I believe it would be bad, because it will replace tether as a stable coin. I would prefer trueUSD to replace tether, but if its to change tether for facebook coin, then its better to continue using tether, as it provides some entertainment through the irrational tether FUD.

Are presumptions about tether being replaced as strong as bitcoin dying or as strong as bitfinex is going under?   Yep, tether and bitfinex is being attacked, and they are quasi-centralized entities that can be attacked, but should we presume their imminent death or even need to be replaced?

$6k is still most certainly in play, but gut-check says it is solidly behind us. I would be surprised to see us dropping below $7k for the rest of the year, TBH.
