Nothing to see here, folks.  Move along... move along.

Are you folks seriously still under the delusion that bitcoin is a natural monopoly ?  Because if you are then I'd consider investing in yellow socks since they're about as likely to establish one.

What do you think's has been happening over the last 10 years ? The so called "altcoin" market is about as utterly hammered into profit-take oblivion as any modern asset's ever seen and bitcoin's still only 16% away from having a minority market share. Wake up and smell the coffee.

Alts are the lungs of BTC and they're about to initiate a sharp intake of breath after an epic exhale Wink

Nice hypothesis. Is it based on one market cycle?

Not really. It's based on a theory of how hard/more persistent assets and soft/more utilitarian monetary assets are structured. Profit-takes leak capital into layers lower down the pyramid following successive market cycles of the upper layers. The lower layers become less volatile but more persistent and therefore serve as a market reserve while most of the profit from growth is made in the upper layers.

You can see this occurring with bitcoin on any long term chart including the log chart of price and the market dominance chart.

See, for example this article from a couple of years back:

Nice Picture.

The black bottom Needs to be stable af and set in Stone ?

- yes, or it all falls over

Warning WO Gang:
Binance is going under scheduled maintenance in the next hours:

Quote
Binance will perform a scheduled system upgrade starting at 2019/11/13 02:00 AM (UTC). The upgrade will take approximately 4-6 hours.

Full infos here:

I have seen in the past huge swings (which direction, hard to tell) when liquidity from Binance was forced our of the books.

Latest thing I started playing with is Spectrum and RGB...colored coins for the Lightning Network. I have been trying to figure out how this can be done for quite a while, it appears someone has figured it out. So I will be delving deeply into the guts to figure it all out.

I am looking at decentralized partial ownership structures for titling seastead homes.

While there are shitcoin solutions, they will come and they will go. I would rather have something that is very likely to last at least 100 years like Bitcoin will.

More details about Bitcoin Options@CME!

Quote
CME Group Announces Jan. 13, 2020 Launch for Bitcoin Options

CHICAGO, Nov. 12, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- CME Group, the world's leading and most diverse derivatives marketplace, today announced options on its Bitcoin futures contracts will be available for trading starting Jan. 13, 2020, pending regulatory review.
"Since the launch of our Bitcoin futures nearly two years ago, clients have expressed a growing interest in options as another way to hedge and trade in these markets," said Tim McCourt, CME Group Global Head of Equity Index and Alternative Investment Products. "We have worked closely with clients and the industry to establish a robust and increasingly liquid underlying futures market here at CME Group, and we believe Bitcoin options will now offer our customers greater precision and flexibility to manage their risk."
Market users have rapidly adopted Bitcoin futures since their December 2017 launch.  Key highlights of how this market has grown include:
Average daily volume of 6,500+ contracts in 2019, equivalent to about 32,500 bitcoin
22 successful futures expiration settlements since launch
3,500+ individual accounts trading
47 percent of trading volume is from outside the U.S.
CME Group is the only derivatives marketplace where customers can hedge or trade benchmark options on futures across every investable asset class, with average daily options volume of 4.3 million contracts in 2019 to date.
Bitcoin options will be listed on and subject to the rules of CME. For more information, please visit http://www.cmegroup.com/bitcoinoptions.

BAKKT is launching physical bitcoin options on Dec 9th.
The rush is on.

https://www.thestar.com/news/starweather/2019/11/12/toronto-sees-record-breaking-snowfall-as-the-city-digs-out-from-mondays-storm.html

Toronto has a new snowfall record as the city begins to dig out after Monday’s big weather event.
13.6 centimetres of snowfall was recorded, said Monica Vaswani, a meteorologist at Environment Canada.
“This is a record,” said Vaswani “There has never been a daily snowfall that was higher then 13.6 centimetres.”
The last time a significant snowfall occurred this early in the year was Nov. 6, 1951, Environment Canada climatologist Dave Phillips said. That’s when the city was hit with 13.2 centimetres of snow...

That is an interesting use case scenario for LN indeed.

As a non-LN but still bitcoin solution, had you considered using Omni Layer or Counterparty? I never really messed around with Omni, but I know Counterparty works quite well. Granted if the Counterwallet server went down you would have to switch to a Counterparty-friendly wallet, but there's quite a few of them:

https://counterparty.io/wallets/

As you are probably aware, the downside is you do have to pay the full transaction fee every time you want to make an asset-related transaction, whether its putting up a bid on their DEX, creating them, moving them around or whatever. To me it seems like a more stable alternative than Lightning at the moment, but you know, times change.

Is this the project you are referring to?

RGB and Lightning Network

As far as I know the project is officially on hold as the repo maintainer and PM (Aleikos Filini) is busy doing other stuff @Blockstream.

Bullish volume, best that 2017..

The Bitcoin market has recently exceeded activity levels at the end of 2017, when BTC began its historic rally that prices soared to a record high above $ 19,900.

Bitcoin broke 40% above the maximum levels of 2017, much higher!

Massive volume in Bitcoin

Guess what?

Things are not as they may seem.

Shrinking Spot market volume has been more than compensated for.

Futures have swallowed the Spot market. BTC 90 day Volume was recently 40% more than the 2017/18 peak.

This has powerful implications.

Reading chart: Left axis is net $USDT flows - net $BTC flows. So, for example, a $100M tether inflow & $100M btc outflow equals +$200M (both are bullish). In reverse, $100M tether outflow & $100M btc inflow equals -$200M (both are bearish)
