In the meanwhile on Gox:

Quote
Dear MtGox Customers,

In the event of recent news reports and the potential repercussions on MtGox's operations and the market, a decision was taken to close all transactions for the time being in order to protect the site and our users. We will be closely monitoring the situation and will react accordingly.

Best regards,
MtGox Team

"In the event of recent news"Huh So they have shut down all the operations WITHOUT PRIOR ANNOUNCEMENT because of "recent news"? What news?

"We will be closely monitoring the situation"... What situation? What is Karpeles smoking?

Gox is really treating their customers like fools. Angry mobs with pitchforks are completely justified at this point.

You won't see a mob in the bitcoin environment. There was no mob with bfl  , no mob with pirate no nothing.
And the whales that played on mtgox , I have the bad feeling they've already cashed out.

Why the bad feeling? I doubt I qualify as a whale (even if in this thread 500 coins are considered "walls" some times), but I certainly cashed out Gox months ago.

Since they track users and have IP's, account names etc. the size of this is huge.   I bet they think they won't be investigated and charged personally.     If they run and hide it will go away.   They keep spreading useless non-information to delay the onslaught.  I wonder if btc builder is actually in cahoots the whole time.   "Josh Jones" and "Juan Martinez" feel like such fake names.   Can anyone validate that Josh Jones is a real person's identity (linkedin profile means nothing).
Bitcoin builder concept was hinted at in the report that twobitidiot "released". It discussed arbitrage to spread the loses out.

Okay, it's now officially confirmed by Mt. Gox, that the "news" are real news and not only rumors.

Finally the cancer has been removed, look at the price go !!!

Don't forget that it was this "cancer" that moved bitcoin from 2 to 1000 in the first place.

And back down again !!!

It could be a good deal if the liability is limited

What is 100% sure is that Gox itself wants us to believe that, they have been spreading many hints, see:

The difficulty is in separating this nightmare from my body, trying not to get sick or pass out, and not taking it too hard. Very frustrating moment. Ugh.

I suppose I should have taken the out with bitcoinbuilder in the last moments.

So many people are in similar shoes to my situation, I can hope it turns out well, but have to remember what's important in life. I encourage others to put this in perspective compared with war or rape or torture victims, those without limbs, those terminally ill, etc, and find some gratitude for life. It really is only money. *sigh*

I was referring to the whales that had money at the beginning of February in there.
I'm pretty sure they've cashed out  , fiat or coins , leaving nothing but leftovers for the small players.

Btw , you're trading on stamp now , or you adopted the hodl tactic?

I dunno man.. we just went through a night with no answers halted trading and fud that matched to them closing down and being bankrupt the fact you think something is going to scare the market more surprises me.

If anything if gox releases a non time extending excuse release it might rally on the same panic lol

Even IF bottom was reached, there is still a lot of work to do

img

For once, I agree with you. This is not over. We still don't know what really happened and a retest of $400 is possible. I'm hungover and I had to sell most of the BTC I drunk bought last night with my house payment money. Not nearly enough profit to sustain me until the recovery. I think I have a motorcycle to sell.

There isn't enough fiat on Stamp to keep us above $500 for long. Also, don't expect floods of new money until the current negative news cycle is over.

Money is flooding into Coinbase and will transfer to stamp, but I wouldn't expect this to continue indefinitely.

I'm on stamp, but not trading much... Just buying ATM. Buying quite a lot in fact. Just wired a very consistent amount today to both Bitstamp and Kraken. I'll place most of my bids on the $400-500 range as I'm hoping for a shitstorm on the media and hopefully also a lot of panic sales from the noobs. Wonderful time to go long. I will also leave a 30% of my fiat on both exchanges with bids below $400 in case the shit really hits the fans.

This is a golden opportunity to increase one's stash IMO.
