You're also in lockdown if your not in Belgian  Tongue My escape routes are quickly closing in around me  Cheesy
I hope you didn't spend more than 30 minutes in a shop, this is now forbidden. I read some tabloid toilet paper based newspaper claiming that the reason we are on lockdown is because some of us were naughty and didn't respect the previous restrictions, instead attending "lockdown parties"  Grin

Weird that we don't hear the Fundies screaming that this is a pox from God upon the evil. Maybe because they're the ones who will be hardest hit.

Go figure.

It no shit proves that we have the better religion. Muslims are licking holy sites and drinking water their imam has spat in (for health). After this all dies down a bit, time for another crusade. The final crusade, maybe.

Of course, this comes after we destroy China. China delenda est.

The UK is the world's 10th biggest exporter and ranks similarly for manufacturing. However a lot of the exports are services and they're likely to get ravaged by the B word, if or when that ever happens that is.

There's now talk of universal basic income. This means that very soon we will be a leading exporter of poorly made tractors, sour cabbage and Victory Gin.

Right. The UK supplies "services" which right now isn't worth a warm bucket of spit. Worse since they decided to "go it alone" a few months back.

Reality exists.

The money printing doesn't matter. It's the confidence in the currency and the country that backs it that matters.

Yep, exactly.

Also, lack of confidence in the alternatives.

They'll print shitloads of money and bailout a ton of companies. I expect all of them cry like babies sooner or later, or simply tell they have to sack most of their employees if they get no help (so the upper management can keep the huge benefits). It has happened before, now it should come easier.

I don't know how d_eddie is playing during these times, but he seemed to have had a very prudent system in which he was constantly taking winnings off of the table
I'm laying low. I got my long liquidated on the latest violent downturn, and my take profit limit on the short was a little too prudent to make up for it. However, I'd kept putting sats away in the meantime, so all in all I'm still up. I bought more physical than usual in the 7ks. I could have saved a bit more for now, but if we knew the future we'd all be rich like fuck wouldn't we? I still have some dry powder left, and will keep stacking physical sats little by little.

I'm still convinced we will prevail. It's just that no one has a friggin' idea of the timeline, whatever they say.

I'm always surprised that people outside UK think we drink warm beer. Can't say I've ever had a warm beer in my life. Beer which isn't kept in a fridge is mostly of the real ale variety, which are generally hand pumped from a barrel in a bar's cellar. British cellars are pretty cold.

I wonder if times such as these will eventually lead to stricter rules about public companies - such as after-the-fact voiding of manager bonuses, forced state repossession of nonconforming companies and similar draconian laws. Seeing what is being imposed on the general population in the name of the common good, which is quite close to enforcing police state rules, I'd say it wouldn't be too far fetched.

Man. You guys are lucky that you can still drink alcohol at all.
I thought "alcohol ban" meant no alcohol at bars or restaurants.
It actually means no fucking alcohol, anywhere.

I guess the rationale is people tend to drink in public quite a bit, so instead of banning drinking in public, they're just banning alcohol sales altogether.

“It shall (also) be prohibited for any person... to sell, furnish, offer, buy, serve or drink intoxicating liquor in any public place within the City of Cebu upon the effectivity of this Order and during the entire period of the General Community Quarantine”

Can't go outside after 8 PM, no alcohol, this virus is brutal.
