HoDLsleep...

$50k in 8 hours.
Has been close to it for a whole 48 hours now.
Noticed it reaching all the way upto $49,890 yesterday but still just playing with the offer to cross that $50k mark.
It a psychological barrier which is hard to crack for the crypto charts for it is half way to that omega level $100k. Cool
That's when the magic starts happening. Grin

If anything I'm the screw up in the family so wouldn't be worried about getting fiat back. My sister makes more money than me, however she works in Paris and wants a flat not too far, so that's around 10000€ for 1 square meter of living space...

My parents were both public servants so yeah, pretty socialists !

I wouldn't give a single sat to anyone who doesn't deserve it, especially family members. I'd say "get on your bike and work for it."

No free lunch for anyone.

... it's not just the "free lunch" thing giving money to people who are not expecting it can literally ruin there lives.

... like the "lottery effect" where the majority of lotto winners end up broke or back where they were in not so many years, some even ruined by drugs, alcohol, gambling or divorce after large amounts of dough comes unexpectedly into their lives.

... money and wealth needs to be handled responsibly or it can create as much ruination and unhappiness as happiness

... i heard stories from a friend where he gave money to all his family from some new wealth, .... a niece who was only experimenting with drugs up until then developed a hardcore meth habit, his father left his mother for gold-digger young plastic bitch, his brother shutdown a thriving construction company employing lots of good young fellas and instead went to playboy mode and terribly playing at training racehorses to gamble on .... and on and on

... try not to kill them with kindness, a hand up maybe ...

Whoah, be careful there, please don't let the richness go to one's head.

While I will say that investing in bitcoin was a wise idea and whatnot I like to remember that there were several flunks before bitcoin and several dodged trains that could have resulted in any of us cashing out our stash early so luck and chance did play a part in building the stash....

Well, I believe luck and chance did play a part in building MY stash. If I hadn't quit that weird job next to the coin shop when bitcoin was $600 a coin I might have traded far more of it for gold. If I had converted all the coin to cash when I got it life would now suck. If I wasn't able to borrow cash to cover some expenses I might have sold more at $2k.

That 5k and 1btc to my idiot brother? If I hadn't found out what he truly values I might have sunk several hundred K into that abortion of a divorce. As is I was really lucky to learn that lesson for such a small amount.

So yes luck and circumstance did play a part in my getting to where I am along with brains and effort.

Not that I believe people deserve claim to my or anyone's coins simply due to their need, but it wasn't quite a case of me being a mastermind either...

I have a serious question (amid AnusCoin and Estes), while waiting for sustained >$50k discussion that will come.

I am OG here, but was unable to put as much in corn as some. With the recent increases, I think forward a year or two when I hope to use some. I don't maintain big fiat balances, but if I sell BTC, I will generate a capital gains event.

I have always kept corn in separate cold wallets by year, it can be absolutely determined that when I sell it will be > one year, long term cap gains (much lower tax in my area).  Even long-term cap gains will be big numbers compared to my norm. If I have to sell at tax-time, just to pay cap gains, I am then generating more taxable events for the next year.

The concept is interesting of using Bitgive https://www.bitgivefoundation.org/about-us/ to donate BTC directly to a real-deal 501(C3) to legitimately fulfill a USA tax obligation, without generating more taxable events by selling BTC.

If I don't convert to fiat, am I able to donate BTC directly? There are other ways, I just discovered Bitgive.

Bawb, if you can get a legit 501(C3) going for 'BobRick Racetrack Feed The Children' thing going, many here may rather help there (even though you don't need it) than pay Uncle Sam.

Actually he wants me to loan her bitcoin/money (to help her buy a flat) but explaining to him that if I lend her bitcoin she would probably never be able to pay me back is pointless.

Never lend to relatives if you can possibly avoid it (especially if your culture isn't set up that way). Likelihood is that you won't get paid back and it will destroy your relationship (with the bonus that you will be the "bad guy").

Your Dad should lend the money himself if he thinks it's a good deal.

Thinking about this: I like to think of things as ways to increase overall net worth for myself and things I care about. If I cared about my sister for example and loaning money to buy a flat that would save her money enough to stack some sats then that would be a wise investment in funds, not just for myself but my genetically rated offspring.

If she just took the money and went to Disney while in debt that would be a.... less wise investment as it would not allow sat stacking and would not improve the overall net worth of the local genetic pool. Bob kind of has this with his idea to set up his nieces and nephews, I wonder if I would structure that to give them edges in building *their* net worth, not just dropping a sack of coins on their heads like a box of rocks.

Hm, this is interesting to ponder. How to use this newfound wealth to make the world a better place. As in increase the overall net worth of things I value.

Small things will help the most. Deposits for flats*, tires for cars, equipment for a business (though not all of it). Giving the unprepared cash is like giving an open can of gasoline and a box of matches to a chimpanzee.

He's been soft for years.  He's cracking now.

But him calling for 100k is bearish. Sad  At least he's saying zero after... so he can still be fully humiliated when it is 250k.

I believe he's trying to help his son out with his bitcoin investment.

I bought myself a model rocket from the UK today, decided to start launching rockets again, something I did when I was younger.
It's gonna be interesting to see what the customs fee is, if any, now that brexit is done.

When I was a kid I used to make rockets out of paper towel tubes and one time I ran out of wadding so I substituted tissue paper (woops i was a dumb kid) So when the cone shot off the rubber band melted and the rocket fell to the ground while the parachute with the cone floated in the sky till I couldn't see it and was gone.

Now here is the fucking sick part!

I got home and the cone was sitting on the front walk to my front stairs!!!

you just can't make this shit up!

Reality is a really weird place to live. Smiley

Oh snap!  Did I forget to tell you I found your cone?  I rang the bell but got no answer so I left it on the front walk so you'd see it when you came home.

Maybe it's just the beer talking but I've had something on my mind for quite a while now and I feel I have to say something about it.

You buggers were trying to get me to make a special 20k hat to celebrate when we got there.  I thought long and hard about doing it because of the amount of work involved and the actual length of time a 20k hat might remain valid.   I'll admit that at the time it seemed like a long way off anyway so I procrastinated and to be honest, I'm glad I did because we sailed through 20k like it wasn't even a thing, remained there for less than 2 hours and never looked back!  Many of you wouldn't even have had time to don the hat anyway.  So, now, when I hear you guys saying we're going to 100k or 166k or 200k I realize that you have no idea how big this thing is going to be!  Still, I love you all and I'm glad we're on this trip together.

Jeez...talk about a convoluted argument about having your views both ways...if it works I'm right if it does not work and goes to zero I said that as well...

what a tool...you can say the same thing about anything...your CPA could run off with your money...the stock market could crash...we could all die in an

asteroid collision...or we might not die of an asteroid collision...sheesh.....and people in the news media 'quote' this idiot...

Last week I had too much work and missed the time corn went over 40000€. Now it's firmly over that. My father is nagging me to sell, to give money to my sister (by selling), I told him countless times I sold enough (too much) and am not going to sell anymore until much higher prices if ever, but he continues, annoying !

parents seem to do this. i converted my dad into a bitcoiner in 2013 and my step dad in 2015

one has bought a car with the gains in 2017, the other is a hodler. one is still nagging sometimes and tells me i should buy a house.

hodl! a hodler alwyas has to hodl for the entire family. even if they dont get it.
