First of all already one year has past away in reaching the next halving.... second people really losing there mind fast.... first question do you really need the FIAT and if you really needed it, then 50-60k was a long period and nice price to take a little to cover stuff....

But to many negativity from experienced hodlers imho

They need a shift kick in the fucking ass.

Lack of testicles  or to quote a Staten Islander they have "Tick balls"

Don't think any of us have actually sold though, in fact I've been buying (everytime I get paid), because that's what you do in dips. LFC bought all his back too I think.

What about the Range Rover?

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

So bought back same amount of corn and a range as surplus

Sweet, not? Boss style imo

I am surely not saying anything regarding whether the RangeRover is a good or bad thing.  That is an individual choice.

I was just questioning the absoluteness of somac's statement regarding "LFC buying all of his back."

Pretty sure you can still update to win 10 for free

https://geeksadvice.com/upgrade-to-windows-10-for-free/

You can. That's how my VR rig was done (I wanted to try VR Minecraft) but there are a few things that have never been quite right about it. It sounds like maybe he needs a fresh install so may as well jump straight to 10.

Edit: Just saw his following message about not wanting to use 10 which I totally respect.

I believe some of these slicers have Linux versions so that might be the way to go.

My Chromebook can run Linux apps but that comes with its own issues. It stopped running the Linux apps and apparently the fix is to disable and re-enable the Linux layer but that deletes all your Linux apps and data. Fortunately, I hadn't actually used it for anything yet but it's not confidence inspiring.

Ah, going to McD to get something to eat, catch you later.

Too good to eat Ramen with the rest of us?

And that's the problem isn't it, the computer industry have fooled people into believing that that's normal.
A computer should need no more maintenance than a stereo. I have a receiver I have had sitting idle on a shelf for more then ten years, if I plug it in today it will work just fine, but a three year old computer refuses to work, and that's "normal".
Fuck the computer industry.

I have Slackware Linux on a PC. I installed it about 8 years ago and other than a couple of security updates for a handful of applications, it's been running fine 24/7. That's the way it's supposed to be. I've been thinking about upgrading it since a new version of Slackware came out recently but no rush.

Update on the Binance card

I just got cashback from my ATM withdrawals, so apparently it doesn't register as an ATM withdrawal but rather a purchase.
That's nice to know.

Now, that's a bug they're going to be fixing quickly... Shocked

What's chromebook? does it work like any other laptop?

Yes, I'm browsing laptops now.

Stay away from chrome books. Limited software availability and serious compatibility issues with video conference software. Turned our kids’ Chromebooks essentially to bricks when Covid broke out, because videoconferencing turned out a big Nono on Chromebooks with zero support from Google.

Take it from this Uber pc need: not a penny to Google Chrome books anymore because of this. You’d be better off buying a cheap brick.

This laptop that won't start has win 10, that should tell you something.

I've had zero issues with win 10 myself, but I do have a pretty thorough knowledge of computers and windows system in general. Computers, like a car, do require constant maintenance and if you are going to manage one yourself, without a mechanic, you need the knowledge. Otherwise take you computer to the computer mechanic and he'll fix it for you. If it's old though just buy a new one, wipe the old one and sell it on ebay.

And that's the problem isn't it, the computer industry have fooled people into believing that that's normal.

Yeah they have and it does suck, but a computer is a hell of a lot more versatile then anything else around. It is literally able to do almost anything, I’m still impressed by what I can do vs my old 486 sitting under my desk, and yet so much easier to use despite this complexity, of course not perfect as you are experiencing.

Linux is definitely an option, but if he is having trouble with a windows computer I suspect he’ll have more trouble with linux.

No, I really think he said he bought all of his back. Sold 6 and bought 6 back at the lows. There's a post but I'm not trawling back through to find it. That kind of sale and purchase would leave enough for a range rover.

Well, you could be correct.

Let's say that he did not get the exact top nor the exact bottom, and then 6 BTC at $55k would be $330k sold and then if buying back around $37k would cost around $222k..  That would still leave around $108k for skimming (and sure maybe there would be some other expenses in there too.. but sure that could still be more or less enough for a RangeRover.. and also getting back all the sold coins.. more or less. and sure there is some wiggle room in there too..

Oh by the way, since you gave a specific number, it may well be an o.k. exercise to presume the top and the bottom which should pretty much allow a quite a bit more to get the complete top and compete bottom correct, even though we likely realize the exact top and the exact bottom is usually not reached in actual real world practice.. but still to give an idea of the Maximum power of 6 BTC in terms of fiat so far to date.

Sold Top:                 $64,895    - value of 6 BTC sold:  $389,370
Bought bottom:        $30,066 - cost to repurchase 6 BTC:  $180,396

Dollar amount remaining after selling and buying 6 BTC and before taxes and other possible expenses:  $208,974

Alternatively - max amount of BTC that could have been stacked with the same extremes of selling 6 BTC at the tippity top and rebuy as many as possible at the absolute bottom:

$389,370/$30,066 = 12.9505089 BTC

In the end:
I just did not want to assume anything and you had mentioned some possible facts that I did not remember or consider... so fair enough.. fair enough.

Merited by JayJuanGee (1), bitebits (1)

@JJG & @bitebits:

Thanks for your posts regarding my cousin's coinage situation. ("coinage", "coinery", "thinkenings", I like it!).

I really don't have any spare time at all for posting in WO right now. Too busy with a very important technical document at work (can't disclose much, but suffice to say that it concerns national security, and people can die if I make a mistake).

As bitebits pointed out, my cousin already got his first 0.1 BTC in the beginning of the month (spent $6k for it, which could sound absurdly expensive to noobs—read this in a couple of years, noobs), so technically he's already a coiner, albeit a teeny weeny tiny little one. He wired another $6k to buy moar (so, a total of $12k invested, with half available for new coins). Luckily, for him, yesterday corn dipped below his first limit order ($3k @ $34,100), so his order must have already been executed, raising his stash to 0.19 BTC. Not bad. Not bad at all. There is another limit order set up for the remaining fiat ($3k @ $30,500), which looks like it will never be executed (but, never say never again, says Sean Coinery).

My cousin may have gotten lucky this time, but I still (and likely always will) maintain my position of "the best time to buy BTC is right now". Waiting for a dip is more or less like rolling a dice, and, as such, you never really know what you're going to get. Of course, there are times when a short-term trend is forming, when you could (coulda, shoulda, woulda) do dis and do dat, but no, I don't want to do dat. I just buy when I can, and HoDL what I have. Has worked for me nicely over the years, won't be changing my strategy any time soon.

@Arrie:

Some friendly, "no offense" suggestions: get a new, modern laptop ASAP, costing no less than $800. Enable Wi-Fi in your home. Enable Windows Updates. Microsoft doesn't care at all who Arrie is, and will not attempt to attack you or extort you, but hackers could, if you don't receive critical updates. If you leaved your Volvo (was it a Volvo?) unused in your garage for 3 years, would you expect it to start up straight away? Computers are not perfect, and they are extremely complicated things, totally different from a stereo system. Your computer (even the very old one you currently have) is orders of magnitude more powerful than the computer on board the Apollo spacecraft that took man on the moon. Appreciate it for what it's done for you over the years, but also upgrade/replace it when the time comes, to make your life easier. See the glass half-full and not half-empty, try to be less grouchy, and enjoy your newfound hobby of 3D printing.

Back to work it is for me... Keep on doing what you do, WOers!

Edit: Corrected small typos.

I will never use win 10 unless I have too
It's a rape of your privacy, and it has forced downloads.
I use win 7 because of those reasons, and I always turn of updates.
As a gpu miner, I was forced to use win 10 although I prefer win 7. But there are bat files which turn off everything you want. The updates are a bit trickier but with some google hints I managed to turn them off completely. In case I want some software from MS Store, I temporatily allow the update services. In this way I have a full control of my windows.

The link to the bat files can be found in mining sites like

That's all his business, so not point going into it.

I was just saying that LFC is a true bitcoiner like most of us, and even if we whinge a bit here and there, it doesn't mean that we aren't 100% commited to BTC.

I mean shit, when one understands how the monetary system actually works and is aware of the mass corruption and conflicts of interest in the world, how can you not be 100% commited.
