Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

8.1% from the perspective of some other countries seems quite harmless, so I wouldn’t get too upset about it.

No, it's still shitty.

Actually it is terrible.

I lived in the USA  through all the 70's. inflation was 6-10 % year after year, but banks paid solid interest not 1,2,3%.

1978 USA inflation rate was 7.59% google it
1978 USA 30 year t-bill was 8.1 to 8.9% see link https://www.macrotrends.net/2521/30-year-treasury-bond-rate-yield-chart

2021 USA inflation rate was 4.57% google it
2021 USA 30 year t-bill was 1.7 to 2.2% see link https://www.macrotrends.net/2521/30-year-treasury-bond-rate-yield-chart

2022 USA to date rate is for last 12 month is 8.3%
2022 USA 30 year t-bill is a fucking joke at. 2.1% to 3.2%  https://www.macrotrends.net/2521/30-year-treasury-bond-rate-yield-chart

see that bleed in wealth  1978 if you had big money you gained on inflation maybe 1 to 2 %

now April 2021 to 2022 if you have big money you bleed  say 5 to 6%

Obviously we are only comparing USA inflation to USA t- bills.

But I am thinking that a 5 %  to 6 % bleed for 12 month time period is uncharted territory .

Maybe some wiz can find a worse time of inflation bleed in the USA  or in Europe form 1970 to 2022 for a 12 month time period. I am not sure it is there. I think this is it.

Somehow, most people are indifferent to getting no interest.
It would have been an outrage in the 70-ies or 80-ies or even in the 90-ies, but somehow become acceptable.
An anecdote: I opened my first online brokerage account in 1997.
Do you know what was the interest on cash in my account?
4.75%, lol (with inflation at 2.3% back then and fed funds rate at 5.46%)
Now-ZERO (or some infinitesimally small number with inflation at 6-8%).
This does not make much sense.

Yes, i agree that 5-6% "bleed" in 12 mo is an uncharted territory.
I also saw a chart that shows 16% year-to-year decrease in income.

I have older friends one is 75 and one is 85 but they are sharp as tacks.

They owned a bank and had some very good investments in the 90's when I met them.
They are by no means broke but both are complaining that their safe harbor bonds are killing them.
I got one of them into BTC set up a small mine for him.
I would love to get a good piece of property and build a 2 megawatt solar farm. Still working at that bigger solar array deal.

I didn’t know that this forum is such a welcoming, inclusive space.  Perhaps I should stay in some form.

Eh.  I guess I should address this once:

Nor should I continue much further with a throwaway account that is accidentally picking up way too much merit for high-quality, substantive posts.  LOL.  Whoops.  Surely, I have much to whine about. Cheesy

Speaking of useless throwaway newbie accounts that pretend to know everything about everyone, what's your opinion on your fellow mouthy cunt nullius? Is he the greatest genius ever or what?

hahahaha

You are quite the investigator, suchmoon...

#justsaying

Kind of like Colombo.

I was serious about restricting suchmoon to only one chance to troll me:

This sort of ironically reminds me of when Quickseller, TECSHARE, and others accused nullius of being a Lauda alt.  Back then, QS was sure that nullius couldn’t be new.  I think that he obviously wasn’t Lauda, so who was nullius?  What is his (allegedly, my) real “main account”?

(Image source: Effectindex.com, via Wikimedia Commons.  (Recompressed.))

It also makes me chuckle over the time when nullius was accused of being Satoshi—or the numerous times when suchmoon has been “outed” as an alt of all sorts of different characters.  Almost every prominent forum member accumulates a collection of such allegations.  If I got one so early, perhaps I am destined for glory!

Perennially popular as such speculation is on this forum, answering it as a serious allegation is counterproductive, if there are no valid grounds for one to be called to answer.  This old cypherpunk forum was founded by “Satoshi Nakamoto”.  Its administration explicitly allows, and even sometimes encourages the use of multiple accounts—as long as alter-egos aren’t abused for sockpuppet brigades, or otherwise for fraudulent purposes.  Privacy and pseudonymity are touchstones of the culture here.  I have done nothing fraudulent or abusive, so it is nobody’s business what other identities I may or may not have.  Maybe I’m nullius, maybe I’m notwe are all nullius—in the manner of the now-popular aphorism, “We are all Satoshi.”

(I am a long-term holder of some altcoins, and sometimes a short-term speculator in others.  I figure PnL in BTC, and my long-term net capital flow has been from alts to BTC—so don’t complain about that; and no, I never had a problem before I tried margin!  But I am a Bitcoiner first and foremost; and I am even a Cøbra fan, even though I’m none too sure what Cøbra would say of me and my altcoins.  Anyway, I enjoy coding for smart-contract chains.  It’s fun, and sometimes profitable.  I believe strongly in the need for a decentralized, permissionless, price-stable currency as a complement to Bitcoin.  Does all of this sound like nullius?  Who knows, maybe nullius is a closet altcoiner! Shocked)

Such musing aside, I must remind the peanut gallery that I have done nothing wrong, and I haven’t even been accused of doing anything wrong.  suchmoon is going off on me like Don Quixote trying to slay a windmill, because—why!?  It’s not about me.  About her, it is revealing.

Her bizarre, hateful fixation on a new account that’s done nothing wrong draws me to reflect on the time when suchmoon recently went off the deep end of paranoid-schizophrenic tier conspiratard delusions (archive).  Whether one likes him or not, 4-digit marcus_of_augustus has been a fixture on this forum since 2011.  He has always expressed the same types of opinions—agree or disagree, those are his opinions.  So, his opinions have now magically morphed him into a Russian agent—because anyone, anywhere with an unpopular opinion about Russia is ipso facto on the Russian payroll!  OK, whatever.  Beware, beware, Russian agents are everywhere.

A better theory:  Vladimir Putin personally inserted a microchip into my brain, which made me trade on margin.  This caused me to lose my BTC, so that Russia could buy it cheap from the liquidator bot.  I blame Russia.  It also caused me to register a Bitcoin Forum account, to hurt suchmoon.  I don’t know why my presence has hurt her; my posts had nothing to do with her, before she popped up out of nowhere with vicious personal attacks on me.  But it is definitely an attack on suchmoon.  It must be.  A Russian attack.  They are out to get you!

Her behavior doesn’t speak well of her mental state, especially given that her obsession with me was near-instantaneous.  Two days after I registered my account, when I had said nothing to offend her (and hadn’t even interacted with her at all!), suchmoon saw fit to insult me gratuitously on my trust page:

suchmoon2022-05-12Pompous mouthy not-a-newbie.

Oh, noes!  I just used nullius-style formatting to quote trust feedback.  Did I just accidentally prove my secret identity as nullius, or am I a sophisticated cypherpunk mimicking others’ styles to throw you off my trail?  I do frequently switch British/American English, punctuation patterns, and so forth.  I’ll just let that play with your head.  Muahahaha!

But shocking though her rude antics are, it is unsurprising to see her go off in a public meltdown over nothing.

suchmoon is the type of mean little soul that feeds off attention.  She thrives off stirring drama, ruining reputations, and manipulating people to do what she wants.  And it’s a pitiable shame for this forum that one with such manifestly unprofessional, ugly behaviour could ever attain a position of community prominence.  Frankly, she comports herself as gutter-trash.  Her snipe about a “mouthy cunt” is reminiscent of the shitcoiner who recently called me a “Bitcoin maxi cunt”.

suchmoon’s only power is the power that you give her.  Accordingly, she has been struggling obsessively to get a rise out of me:  To troll me, to bait me into a flamewar, to drag me down to her level of uncouth, uncivil discourse.  I have better things to do with my time, because I have a life; and to avoid being dragged down into the mud, I must hereby mind the adage about wrestling with a pig.

Ignore suchmoon, and the forum is cleaner.

Having so said, it may now be wise to desist from getting trolled by such of suchmoon’s potty-mouth flamebait as others may quote.

Edited (only) to fix a broken image.  (It is difficult to do this as a newbie, as I can’t see my own images until it’s too late.)  Edited again:  Fixed broken image again, so it actually works this time!  Added explicit source info, since it can no longer be found via the image URL.

Some banks have negative interest rates for big savers. "Paying" -1% is taking the piss.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52772950

Quote
Swiss banks UBS and Credit Suisse only impose negative rates on deposits of more than 2 million Swiss francs.

In Germany, where some banks impose charges on deposits of more than €100,000 (£90,000), some people have started stashing their money in vaults.

Now that BTC is back up, I have significant margin available on my mutilated fraction of a bitcoin.  I am dying to grab back some more scraps of BTC, while it is still cheap (currently under $32k).

A few weeks ago, I asked a friend to slap me in the face if I do that.  Re-buying BTC sold low would be the right thing, if it were for cash as in mindrust’s case.  Alas!  I have only margin.

I never wanted to sell.  I knew that if I were to lose BTC, it would then recover without me.  Now, Bitcoin is running away from me. Cry

Repeated liquidations could nearly zero out my BTC holding.

Perdition is so tempting!

Bitcoin, please forgive me.

P.S., thanks for the quote.  Would you be so kind as to fix the image that I messed up?  It is difficult, posting when I can’t see my own images.  (URL that should be in the img tag.)  Edit:  Next activity period begins 2022-06-01T07:53:20Z, so...

I understand that we have not seen Marcus for a while, but I did not know that anything was happening in regards to his forum account.. besides perhaps that he had been away voluntarily.. ...

A better theory:  Vladimir Putin personally inserted a microchip into my brain, which made me trade on margin.  This caused me to lose my BTC, so that Russia could buy it cheap from the liquidator bot.  I blame Russia.

Personally, I give less than two shits about some of the politics, except sure sometimes they do get embedded into our conversation, and we know that there is misinformation coming from several angles regarding various aspects of the Ukraine conflict - and it is likely not going to go away, so I am probably exaggerating a wee bit when I say that I do not give two shits about politics because it is difficult to escape.. but at the same time death-wish, you have to take responsibility for your own actions in regards to your BTC portfolio management - and surely you admit mistakes were made.. and hopefully you learn enough of a lesson to minimize any further damages.  I believe that i had already outlined my recommendation to get the fuck away from margin trading and focus on BTC accumulation based on more basic practices of dollar cost averaging, lump sum investing and buying on dips.... and if you ended up having to mostly start over (you have not been liquidated out of some aspect of your currently existing BTC), then recoup whatever you can.. and get the fuck out of shitcoins, especially since you have already shown that you do not seem to know what the fuck you are doing... even though you do happen to recognize and appreciate bitcoin's bullish case and its fundamentals.. so stay focused there first and don't get distracted into either shitcoins or margin until you get your BTC stash sufficiently rebuilt and maybe even overallocated (which surely could take you 4-10 years if you have already ended up losing a bunch).

Sorry.. my patronizing lil selfie could not help but to make some of those commentaries in regards to both your representation of taking responsibility for your BTC portfolio management (yes, I know that you were joking, but still), and the need for you to learn from your mistakes and get your lil selfie on a more solid BTC accumulating path.. that involves focusing and honing reason and prudence, rather than gambling inclinations..

Regarding your various points that seem to belong in the meta section of the forum, I find those kinds of comments less offensive than bringing up shitcoins (or moreso pumping shitcoins without any legitimate connection to bitcoin) in this thread, though I would imagine that there is a pretty decent (perhaps overwhelming) majority of WO regulars who don't want to see very much meta in the WO.. perhaps a reference here or there is going to be tolerable, but long meta rants is not likely to win you too many friends.. I probably won't complain too much about it, yet I will probably blow with the winds if other guys are complaining about it.. which seems quite likely to me... seen it several times previously..

...

I think we really could see $70k this month.

What happened to your May rally to $70k? I can't believe you got it wrong.

I didn’t know that this forum is such a welcoming, inclusive space.  Perhaps I should stay in some form.

This part was hilarious.  Grin  Grin .. I wish you could have meet some of the older participants in this thread.  Cheesy  Cheesy

Also.. Why would Marcus give 50 merits?? Is this his shilling account??  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

P.S., thanks for the quote.  Would you be so kind as to fix the image that I messed up?  It is difficult, posting when I can’t see my own images.  (URL that should be in the img tag.)  Edit:  Next activity period begins 2022-06-01T07:53:20Z, so...

I dunno I tried editing the gif in my quote, but all looks correct.
It displays as a link that works in your original post, but I don't think the bbs likes it for whatever reason when it tries to display the actual image.

Kinda hard to make sense of things on a 5" phablet screen, so maybe I'm just a fucktard... but I see nothing wrong with the format.
