Altough at this point I no longer know who the terrorists are.

Maybe missile makers?

It seems that they are indeed the ones that profit the most fully.  And I hope you are able to avoid any troubles in your neck of the woods. Mr. Ma.

I am having a hard time finding a good narrative for what we are doing in Iran right now.  Unlike our actions in Venezuela, our saber rattling at Cuba and various jabs we've taken at neighbors to our north, which all make sense in a way, this does not.

What we are liable to see is an energy crisis that makes the 70s look like tiddlywinks.

And that crisis is going to be for Europe and the Western hemisphere much more than our own hemisphere

Along with that, we are putting ourselves in a very weak state in areas that have not yet blossomed into war, like areas of the Pacific, which are liable to heat up if this keeps going on.

I am discouraged by it all, but such is life, I guess.

Are you not in the Western Hemisphere?

No offense to any country in the western hemisphere I would prefer it to be one government. And for the most part I would want it to really practice Isolationism. But if it ever happened I would not want Trump / Maga to lead it.

Frankly speaking it won't happen, but the logic of it is compelling.  Of course with peoples customs the way they are it would be a mess. Based on

religion alone I think the western hemisphere is mostly Christian which would like cause a ton of problems if Christians fully owned or ruled all of the western hemisphere.  ( I can say this as a Catholic which BTW many Christians not Catholic say Catholics are not Christian  Huh  Further detail 1 grandparent was a Lutheran so from experience I know a bit about Christian divisions)

Phil - Give me an example of a country's current 'leader' you are in agreement with, and would be happy with.

We align on many values it seems, Mr. Ma.  I too lean isolationist and am only recently beginning to see why having a hemispheric hegemony would be positive.

As a Christian myself and actually having a degree in theology (as if that adds any weight to my words at all...  hilarious), I would just like to say that anyone who calls themselves a Christian and excludes Catholics are fools.

But thanks for trying to get us back to BTC. It is certainly more fun to think about than any of this nonsense.  😁

As I'm sure you know a significant number of American founding fathers and early presidents - particularly among the most prominent leaders were Deists or Theists rather than traditional Christians. Many people do not believe the supernatural and miracle events in the Bible about Jesus in the  New Testament that was written roughly 70 years after Jesus’ death   - emphasizing they prefer reason over religious dogma - questioning the divinity of Jesus that led to the religion of Christianity that Jesus is God. Jews, whence Jesus was a Jew, certainly don't believe Jesus is God... The Catholic Church holds doctrines and traditions that differ from, or are not found in the Bible as interpreted by most Protestant denominations. That is why some Christians exclude Catholics as Christians... I'd think your degree in theology contradicts both Deism and Theism (clockmaker).

What's clear is that they are profiting. Ukraine offered to share their knowledge on drone intercepting drones to every country outside Iran which is involved in the conflict.
The US refused. So it's still $2M for each Patriot intercepting an iranian $40k strike drone.
However, there might be more details i was missing, but many of Irans neighboring countries were interested.
Coincidence?

I personally regard "theism versus deism" in so far as it is popularly discussed as a false dichotomy very similar to the "science versus faith" false dichotomy.  It also intersects with the free will versus predestination argument.

As to the Protestant versus Catholic divide, I believe that every stream of the faith has errors in its doctrine that will be resolved sometime in eternity.

I could probably best describe myself loosely as an existentialist Christian mystic.  And there are very few doctrines that I personally hold very strongly, just a few.

But I suppose this is also far off topic for our thread here.

The thing is, most people also benefit, even if less in proportion. So they don't really want to face the truth.

I was raised Catholic but my take on religions is somewhat similar to my take on aliens… Thinking you were born into a family of the one correct religion is as ludicrous an idea as thinking you were born on the one planet that supports intelligent life. It has to be a sign of low IQ.

In other off topic news… I cleaned out my pool today and found a black widow the size of a golf ball. Today nearly went very badly for me.

Some "The Truth"
...

Palantir co-founder Peter Thiel and Vice President JD Vance ties explained: See company's expanding reach inside government programs, allegations against it

Palantir co-founder Peter Thiel and Vice President JD Vance ties explained as new concerns rise inside the Trump coalition. The story looks at Vance’s ties with Peter Thiel, the government’s expanding work with Palantir, and the political tensions around data sharing, surveillance fears, and Silicon Valley influence on national decisions.
...
Growing political strain over Palantir and Vance ties
The rising concern pushed Vance into a defensive position. At a gathering of young conservatives, he rejected claims that he was closely linked to Palantir. He said Palantir is a private company that can offer useful services but may sometimes do things people do not support....

Palantir and GE Aerospace Are Working Together on Military Aircraft. Is PLTR or GE Stock a Better Buy Here?

Drones streaking toward Saudi Arabia and Kuwait in early March were a stark reminder that the war in the Middle East is still widening and growing more unpredictable by the week. Gulf defenses intercepted multiple Iranian drones over oil-rich regions, and shipping routes that carry a large share of the world’s crude remain on edge. Each new strike shows how much modern conflict now relies on fast targeting, resilient logistics, and aircraft that can stay in the air despite relentless pressure.

This reality is pushing governments to lean harder on data-driven defense technology, especially tools that can keep critical jets flying and supply chains from seizing up. In this tense security climate, Palantir (PLTR) and GE Aerospace (GE) have deepened their work together on AI-powered solutions for military aircraft, combining advanced software with engine expertise to predict parts needs and reduce delays across key Air Force programs.

More Top Stocks Daily: Go behind Wall Street’s hottest headlines with Barchart’s Active Investor newsletter.

With conflict risk rising and digital systems moving closer to the heart of air power, the question almost asks itself. Which of the two stocks looks more attractive to buy right now, PLTR or GE? Let's find out.

Palantir Technologies (PLTR)
Palantir Technologies is a $362.6 billion software company, formerly based in Denver and now in Miami, that builds operational AI platforms for government and commercial clients. The share price sits near $153.50 as of March 12, down about 13.4% year-to-date (YTD) yet still up roughly 84% over the past 52 weeks.
