For now I am not using my bitcoins for keeping on my wallet because, I have a project to do for my family to be used for my household improvements and badly needed an enough amount of money for the costs of materials to buy. Bitcoin for now is not my investment for other options like in tradings, but it's my source of fiat cash money and I am also depending on the currrent price value in the market I will be more happy to exchange my btc to fiat if price is higher in a current updates.

I get your reason of do not keeping your bitcoin, But i think if you can save a low percent of your weekly or monthly income and hold it in your btc wallet, It's a good investement too, Maybe one day your bitcoins grow up and you will be a millionaire by doing that , No one know what will happen in the future, By the way I hope that your project will succeed.

I have all my coins in on an online trading site (paxful) (low volume)
I plan on making a large investment very soon, and want to safely store all of my coins I.E I basically want to drop a couple thousand, and keep them in the safest possible way, where I can revisit them in 5-10 years or so and reap the benefits, or cry about the loss.
What is the best way to do this, and what's the best way of ensuring a backup?
How do you currently store your coins
thanks in advance for any inputs
So far I am using Electrum wallet, multibit hd, mycelium, and exchange wallet. Which is so far I don't have any issues problem that I encountered before. Which means its really helpful to me

I would never trust an online site,u are always at a risk of loosing them ,I currently have 2 btc and they are kept safe in mycelium wallet, for begginers block chain is useful but when u exceed half a btc I would prefer mycelium over anything else ,it has appropriate protection and the fees is nominal I'm not saying its less but compared to others its protection is top class so I'll prefer that you go with mycelium An online site maybe risk to put large amount of bitcoin for long term but I remember someone who dis it for 5 years, he stored bitcoin on coinbase and it seems good enough. Yes, MyCelium wallet has some advanced privacy and security features. While this wallet could be a bit complicated for newbie users but it’s still one of the safest wallet on the market. Mycelium is an open source software program, so it's constantly upgraded. Even though this wallet primarily a hot wallet, there are some cold storage features for bitcoin users who wants to put their bitcoin outside the network.

Actually, a big fraction of what I own in bitcoin is stashed in a few online wallets. The reason is because I do not own that many bitcoins. If I had a bigger amount, I would use a paper wallet (probably more than one paper wallet).
I think online wallet is also very safe compared to paper wallet. I keep all the bitcoins in my wallet online but I have never experienced the experience of being gutted and stolen by someone

Because their supports are very friendly and they have their physical office and everything about papers they've got and they are registered so it's fine to keep my bitcoins there.

I think you do not need to be complicated using paper wallet to be more secure in storing bitcoins, online wallets can also be safer, for example by providing authentication. I guarantee it will be safe

If indeed they have a physical office and you live near the office then you can often check and make sure that your local online wallet will not be scam. Although it is a precaution but in fact it does not guarantee that your local online wallet will not scam you. Moreover if you keep many amount of bitcoin, i think it is very risky to save on it.

I'm not that really near to the physical office of that local wallet that I'm using although they are transparent and I can say that they are really trusted. They are the best local wallet here in my country and their company is funded very well and if I'm not mistaken their CEO came from PayPal so I guess that is fine to trust them.

The more you use it, the more you realize how bad it can be. I have been scammed several times by them and I swear to God that I will never use those kinds of wallet. Right now, I feel very safe when using my electrum wallet. In the future, I will by trezor wallet. Hardware wallet is the best. No one can ever hack it

A small amount I keep it in web wallet and I prefer the blockchain.info because has the capability to pair it with my smartphone so it is easy to spend it anytime I want. The rest I keep it in electrum as a desktop wallet. It is a fast and lightweight (there is no need to download all the blockchain) even though I have to rely on external servers. In the future If I will have more coins I will buy a compatible with electrum hardware wallet.

My trust in blockchain is quite big so I always keep 4/5 BTC there but my most assets are alts's which is why I store them on a special wallet PC. I would recommend that for everyone. Most funds on a special pc or usb. If you are store it on a pc. Make server to NEVER use that PC for browsing the interwebs.

If your bitcoin is always used for something like family needs and it keeps you from continuing to exchange your bitcoin to fiat it's no problem. But think about the future move. Save a few percent for the future

Indeed... I have the same tricks, I save my bitcoin in different wallet so that when the other one was scam I have an extra account. Its better to divide your money to prevent us from losing our money. Yet, I put my money on popular and trusted wallet.

I keep may bitcoins in a local wallet that i can exchange it in cash if i want. So once bitcoin price get high i exchange it in cash by withdraw it in a bank. And the others i keep in blockchain that is the most i used from now to keep my bitcoin.
be careful with the exchange, although initially assured and reliable. I prefer to put it in the wallet first. when I want to convert it to a fiat I could send it to the exchange it reduces the risk. Precisely, it is indeed used for those who want to exchange a fiat or want to profit by following the development of coin they use. For the problem of storage it is best we make his own wallet and store it properly, because sometimes the security system in the trading site is very powerful, but security there is in the email or username that we have is not so strong that it causes hackers to easily take over your account and then take all the coins that exist

I don't have a hardware wallet but I make sure I have my private keys and my pc secured, but of course you also need an online wallet in case you need to purchase or do a trade I have a good and secured local online wallet,I guess it's all about spreading your coins and securing it.

Because bitcoin is more powerful coin than others. In bitcoin, we have a chance to earn money a lot of than trading. But about the OP, i am using online wallet to store my bitcoins.
