I have all my coins in on an online trading site (paxful) (low volume)

I plan on making a large investment very soon, and want to safely store all of my coins
I.E I basically want to drop a couple thousand, and keep them in the safest possible way, where I can revisit them in 5-10 years or so and reap the benefits, or cry about the loss.

What is the best way to do this, and what's the best way of ensuring a backup?

How do you currently store your coins

thanks in advance for any inputs

So far  I am using Electrum wallet, multibit hd, mycelium, and exchange wallet. Which is so far I don't have any issues problem that I encountered before. Which means its really helpful to me Wink
It's no problem to use exchange as a wallet to store your bitcoin. Because it will be much easier and simpler if you're going to trade.

I keep may bitcoins in a local wallet that i can exchange it in cash if i want.  So once bitcoin price get high i exchange it in cash by withdraw it in a bank.  And the others i keep in blockchain that is the most i used from now to keep my bitcoin.
I also like that I keep my bitcoin in the local of exchange. it will be more simple because when you need cash you can directly sell your bitcoin and pulled out of the exchange

currently using blockchain.info wallet, since I don't trade with huge amounts of bitcoin and I'm keeping it safe as much as I can and also, as soon as I recieve the bitcoin, I trade it asap for fiat so I barely have anything on my wallet right now. Smiley
Same goes with me But I am using our local bitcoin wallet,
And as soon as I receive some bitcoin and I need some money I would just convert it to Fiat to withdraw it asap.

The common is blockchain wallet to use but in your case it is more secure if you will use a different reputable bitcoin wallets or in short scattering your funds so it will lessenthe risk of losing all your bitcoins in any cases or problems in online wallet  .
In all the best storage is a offline wallet for you to stored it safely because you are in control with your private keys.

If your goal is to save in exchange for a lot easier to trade it is not a problem but you have to allocate the right funds. Do not put everything in exchange because it will be risky

A very bad practice. It's good to withdraw your bitcoins if you are not using/trading them regularly or too often, leaving your money to someone else can be dangerous and who know when the exchange will be "hacked".

I even not have a time to keep it, if my balance reach 0.01 I cashout it to buy some food

If you really need them then you can't do anything else to save the bitcoins otherwise if you have other ways income then try to save bitcoins even small amounts.

I wouldn't keep my bitcoins in whole time and i don't trust any wallet sites even if it has https it's not posible to get hacked or lose all of my coins much better i buy a good altcoins and hold it in the exchange but i don't trust exchange sites too but it easy very easy to grow the altcoins so i can get a profit for a little time i don't like keeping my money for small profit i want a day or week trade and profit.

Whatever ways we do, let's just be responsible of what we are doing...
Keeping bitcoin is really risky unlike keeping our money in the bank where there is an insurance for it.
Also, if only there are insurance agency that will accept our bitcoin, I would love to avail their service, just to be safe because I'm planning to hold longer.

I don't have a hardware wallet but I make sure I have my private keys and my pc secured, but of course you also need an online wallet in case you need to purchase or do a trade I have a good  and secured local online wallet,I guess it's all about spreading your coins and securing it.

If you own a large amount of bitcoin, you should save it on a hard drive, which is safe for you, and of course you must own the private key. Conversely, if you regularly carry out transactions, and the number of bitcoins you own is average, you should use an online wallet that will support you a lot of things, and will ensure the time for Your transactions. Because online wallets always set a fixed fee enough to complete the transaction quickly.

No, it's not the safest way; on the contrary, it puts a lot of risk on your money, because most online wallets use cloud data. And that's where hackers easily get hacked. They will steal your account, and then take all the money you have, one day you log into your account and discover that you are stolen. it was worse.

Exactly its a big risk to store your bitcoins in online wallet as there are more chances that your bitcoins will get hacked by the hackers and I think that the best and safest place to store your bitcoins is in offline wallet where your bitcoins are very much safe.

Multibithd was my choice until I had some problem with them, now I`m planing to download electrum. I have coins in many casinos, 10 mbtc here, 50 there.. I use wallets when I`m collecting amount on one place to deposit more on one place with bonus, or when I`m cashing out, and I do that often. So more on less I don`t keep my coins on one place for to long, that is gamblers life. When I download electrum I`m planing to start saving a bit if its possible with my character.

You either have no idea how dangerous storing your coins online is, or you are a seasoned trader who know what he is doing.
No trying to judge hastily I rather think you belong to this first category.

Cold storage or exchange wallet for trading....what else?

Unless you have rather excessive amount of coins then cold storage is rather fancy way of storing coins.
What is wrong with software wallet encrypted with strong password?

I have all my coins in on an online trading site (paxful) (low volume)

I plan on making a large investment very soon, and want to safely store all of my coins
I.E I basically want to drop a couple thousand, and keep them in the safest possible way, where I can revisit them in 5-10 years or so and reap the benefits, or cry about the loss.

What is the best way to do this, and what's the best way of ensuring a backup?

How do you currently store your coins

thanks in advance for any inputs

Be careful about leaving all of your coins on an online exchange or storage site. The site could close down or get hacked. I prefer to keep some of my Bitcoins in an offline wallet to be safe.

Well, basically the exchanger site is only used to exchange the coins you have, not to store them. It might be better to use coinbase, or myetherwallet for altcoin.

For security, I store my coins on different sites and in different purses. It's good that while nothing bad has happened to me, but safety will not hurt.

If you own a large amount of bitcoin, you should save it on a hard drive, which is safe for you, and of course you must own the private key.
I assume you're talking about an external drive? Storing your wallet files/private keys on hard drives or usb drives is just optional. Negative aspect is that they may corrupt, or just stop working completely. Best possible storage is a metal bar with the private key(s) engraved. This will make sure that your private keys will not vade or vanish as might be the case with paper wallets.

Conversely, if you regularly carry out transactions, and the number of bitcoins you own is average, you should use an online wallet that will support you a lot of things, and will ensure the time for Your transactions. Because online wallets always set a fixed fee enough to complete the transaction quickly.
If you choose a light weight wallet (light weight in the way that it doesn't require/download the entire blockchain) it will work perfectly as well. It doesn't cost much effort to just include a proper fee. What else do you need?
