I think it is stupid to store your btc on someone's website, go download the wallet, store it on your computer, turn off the internet connection - and you are 100% safe.
Leason learned here pal i stored thru investment my bitcoins thru website hoping that it will be more than be kept but it will grow but after 3 months of expecting the site totally gone with my bitcoins. So i suggest to that bitcoins should be keep thru reliable wallet.

I have all my coins in on an online trading site (paxful) (low volume)
I plan on making a large investment very soon, and want to safely store all of my coins I.E I basically want to drop a couple thousand, and keep them in the safest possible way, where I can revisit them in 5-10 years or so and reap the benefits, or cry about the loss.
What is the best way to do this, and what's the best way of ensuring a backup?
How do you currently store your coins
thanks in advance for any inputs
I don't think thwt you are safe with any third party wallet because as per your requirement you want to go after the 5-10 years then it will be not better for you to keep in third party wallet and even in exchange . Here for example if you will not your poloniex ACCOUNT then it will be freezed by the poloniex ( that is not a fair policy because my 2 friends faced this thing ) . So here my suggestion for you to get only official wallet , like blockchain . Or just create account in the mycelium and then export your private and place at safe place . In this way if your bitcoin will remain in such types of the wallet then no chance for anyone to give problem with your btc .

I don't really have bitcoin that much though I save mine with the use of coins bitcoin wallet. It is very efficient and veey easy to use though it is an exchanger which is not a preferred bitcoin wallet because it don't give you your wallet's private key. I've been usung it for months now.

I have 3 wallets, 2 exchange wallets and the other one wallet with private key, most of my bitcoin is on my wallet with private key cause i know that my bitcoins is safe there. Maybe 30% of my bitcoins is on exchanges.

I always keep my bitcoins safely in my electrum wallet.Even when the hard fork occured,i kept all of my bitcoins in that wallet only. Its easy to use.But it should be downloaded from the official website Electrum.org and if downloade from any other fake websites,it would lead to loss of all bitcoins.
I also keep my Bitcoin into Electrum wallet. But I always use blockchain wallet for the small transaction or daily uses.its easy to me use blockchain wallet.I only use electrum wallet for store Bitcoin for a long time.I also recommended all to use the online wallet for the small amount of transaction. Yeah I also have desktop wallet, I use bitcoin core but the wallet I use to store bitcoin for the long term. For my day transactions of course I use an online wallet like blockchain because I think with the online wallet that can facilitate the flexibility in transacting

Maybe all questions will be the same when there is asking this, but no matter what your luck is not that big, I think the online wallet is enough. Of course if your bitcoin much storage should be cool to keep it fresh.

You mean storing up your bitcoins on the Exchange site? If yes, then I could say that it is not that stupid, but it is risky, because there is a lot of scenarios happened which a lot of bitcoins was lost in the exchange site, and the exchange couldn't explained what happened also, I don't know if they really can't or they are just making up some stories so they could cover up what really happened on those bitcoins.

So far the best thing I think to store your coins which is bitcoin was Multibit hd, or electrum wallet, as long as you had the private key, key words it will never be gone. You can keep it as long as you want it be.

i keep my bitcoins in JAXX People dont like JAXX and dont think its secure enough but it does the job for me i am using jaxx too for at least 6 month ago until now and I don't have any problem. beside jaxx, I use different wallet like from the exchanges for my trading. I think every wallet is safe so we can use without any worries except we forgot to save our private keys and this will make we are losing our bitcoin.

I think,i keep my bitcoins to use an online wallet service. I know it's not safe for bitcoins. But i think, i keep my bitcoins in hardware wallet. It costs quite expensive. But there is no fear to catch virus, which can steal coins.

I keep my BTC in Electrum too but I am thinking of running a full node (Bitcoin Core) recently because I do want to contribute in any ways instead of just being an investor but still quite hesitant. That's because there seems to be 2 camps which is quite inconclusive that whether a non-miner full node could actually help BTC in general or not.
