Few months ago they also signed, always for free, Alexander Arnold from Liverpool, and for sure they gave him a huge bonus when he signed the contract. But TAA is a very offensive right back, I feel like they keep thinking too much about this type of players and there is little balance in the team. You can't have offensive full-back defenders plus offensive midfielders plus the strikers. Especially when the wings like Vinicius, Rodrygo, etc don't really help in the defensive way. The coaches you have mentioned, only Pep Guardiola has qualified. While Zidane, yeah, we know they won 3 Champions League titles for Madrid, but with a Galacticos squad where Ronaldo, Benzema, Ozil, Kross, and some great players still playing at that time, I think it's normal they got that trophy. Now, with an ordinary squad, I am not sure Zidane can handle it, it the same like other coach you have mentioned, Kompany and Mikel Arteta, both untested for the club who have high pressure from officials and fans. I disagree, right now there are no good managers available in market because Real Madrid management already have their mindset about bringing a new one, but they are giving time to Xabi Alonso for fixing things and producing good results, most chances they will be waiting for just one or two more games.

Still, I agree about their weakness in defence because they needed to be fixing this as soon as possible otherwise things are going to be not on required level where they still can fight hard for return to the top of league. Militão's recent injury is going to be big problem, but good thing happens now, they are near January transfer window. This can give them good chance of having some suitable replacement.
