Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

1080ti still remains the gold standard. Nothing comes close. The Vega's are wayyyyy too expensive and don't offer any sizeable performance increase.

Because the only thing that can keep the ASIC away is memory intensive operations. For the time being at least. And the Ti with its 352bit bus wont be able to cut it. |

What a mistake it was Anyways the drivers for amd are sad too , Different versions for best performance of different cards + need dummy plugs for full speed + power consumptions make amd fall really behind nvidia |

I said about "stable" - coins - that you can mine during months without jumping the pools, exchanges, etc. Now it is eth, xmr and zec. Maybe some extra dagger or equihash coins. All others need constant attention and time. It is not suitable for all ))
And don't tell me about other coins - it was me here to point you smartcash some time ago - it was not very trivial to find and rather profitable for a while. Just an example ))

Anyone mining groestlcoin with 1080ti? What miner do you use, what pool, what clock settings?
Im fairly new to this myself, Started a couple of days ago with GRS, dwarfpool, i just lowered my me to -100 and core to + 160, able to get 69+ but if i start switching windows etc i get failure so going to lower the core a tad maybe. J |

Regardless, I found the discussion interesting. So yes, the 1080Ti is powerful at some algos, Vega is powerful at others... but the x10 Baikal information is interesting. If you're investing in mining gear today, its profitability in the next year should be a genuine concern. So yes, the Vega vs Pascal question is extremely pertinent. This place isn't about trolling. We're all here to make money, so please put your fanboyism aside, kids.
