Trying to decide between the EVGA SC2 and ZOTAC AMP Edition. Others are either 2.5 slots or more than 300mm which won't fit in my case.
I have both and the Zotac AMP runs hotter at 70tdp than the EVGA at 90tdp so I would go with the EVGA.
Another options is getting the triple fan and still dual slot MSI DUKE along with a bigger case.

Edit - Can't embed the youtube vidoe properly, not sure how

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqK7XqTuPwU

here is gamers nexus breaking dwon the Zotac 1080 Ti, they have also broken down a few others if you're interested.

IMO the Zotac isn't bad, but the whole thing just screams excess. Considering it's mass it has no performance gains relative to it's peers.

Zotac AMP Extreme runs at max while silent and cool , go figure
yeah same here i have evga ftw and they run cooler than the zotacs ampfor sure.

gona grab two zotac 3 fan tis to compare tmw

i have an Amp Extreme, LOVE it, great card, rocks all algos, but damn 320 TDP compared to the usual 250 of a ti, and THREE slots :/ the muther is HUGE Cheesy

I bought a EVGA Black, does anyone owns it!?

I have a rig, I like them, at 82% tdp I am at about 62c in a garage (with outside temps in high 90s) they work well, and they have a nice warranty. They don't OC too well on the core side (at least mine do not). My SC2 does better on core.

what do you find they max for core?   i find my gigabytes were "cheaper" but over +200 on mem they crap right out, while my zotac tho cost more can do +400  (locks at +550 tho)
what clocks can the evga blacks do before crapping?   it seems core matters but mem not really (i go -400 on my zotac on mem)

CjMaPope, I find I can get the cores to about 85-90 with no rejects poolside, for memory depends on the algo but on some I can get to 400-450. Mind you 5 of mine are what I consider normal nvidia silicon (no lottery winners here) and I have 1 I want to call pokie - too lazy to separate him out and find his own timings, he may be slowing the lot (might do it now that I type it). I have an SC2, which under performs compared to the SC Black (5 of the 6).

tdp @78 to 80, if I try to go over 90 on the core I need to bump to 90tdp, and even then it may not stay running for 2 hrs or more.

spez2: locks I can confirm at 90tdp, 145CoreClock, 500MemClock (I work down from there and then manage power which slides everything to what I typed above) I have to undervolt to sub 80 due to temps in my garage.

I'm just wondering does who has tdp at 80 for 24/7?  I been very careful not to damage the card for long term usage.  I keep it at under 75% tdp and temperature under 58c by the time it's night all the cards avg 45c.  So far I have 15 1080ti for more than 2 weeks and all of them work 24/7

this is like 2 days straight temperatures haven't reach 60c

hmm...intresting... ya i think it really is just the siliocon lottery and every card is different with different sweet spots, ya with the ti there nice and powerful i find, so udner 90 tdp is best i think.
ya i agree, every algo is so different , all depends on that too..

i am 80 tdp usually same yupp, really the 1080ti is so powerful it still does fine and less on power limit = insta less heat! Smiley  great for these months, mine are running 60 degrees as i type, with the one on the end at 53 ;p   lol

I run mine at 78 to 80, 63c - they are good to way more (the power vram/power chokes are good to 110). Gamers take them to 80c regularly.

That's pretty good. Which model are they? Our cards should run at 80% TDP till they are obsolete. Even smart miners who undervolt their 7970s during the btc days have their cards running today. That's 5 years.

So do you guys recomend us to use about 70% to 80% tdp!?
Im using 110% 24/7, 75C tops, do you know how this temp and usage can reduce lifespan of the cards!?

Normally gamer are playing at OC and not surprised to run at 85c!

I believe if you keeping it at below 80 should be ok. High tdp will consume more watts so its your choice to get highest hash rate or optimum hash/watt ratio

If you can keep it cool, running at higher tdp is ok as long your bill still come in low Smiley

Thanks everyone looks like I could keep the same settings.  When I started it's EVGA 1080ti SC Blacks is mostly available to buy.  I got a quad of FTW3 from another state for testing, and no tax.  They ran slightly cooler but they start at 280w.
