Just another Bitcoin fork with applied changes made by someone else. The Zero knowledge whitepaper it's based upon was made by the ZEC (Zcash) team (university professors) which didn't even use it for their own coin (ZEC) and went on instead of using ZkSnarks. So this Thai kid just forks BTC, uses their research and creates Zcoin. It's nothing special, won't ever see a wider adoption. ATM bunch of the coins are locked up in Znodes (masternodes which require 1000 coins) and the parasites are waiting on the miners to mine blocks so they can get the divident of 15 coins.

It used to reward like 40 coins per mine block (50 coins in a block) but after the masternodes went live in december 2017, it now awards 28 coins per block to the miners. The breakdown in the past was:
- 40 miners + 10 devs
Now it's:
- 28 miners + 15 znodes parasites + 7 devs per block.

Profitability of this coin is worse than anything else. 99% of the hashing power is at only one pool (mining pool hub) where botnets account for like 85% of the hashing power. So with 8 x 1080ti and some change (multicore cpus, some 1050tis etc) I make barely 0.5 Zcoin per day ($26).

I would seriously recommend anyone to steer clear of this failed project. The Lyra2Z algo is good, light on the cards (~40-60C), but this coin and it's circus management team have drove it to the bottom, and I'm pretty sure apart from botnets, soon, nobody will mine it.

On their official chat (Telegram) - the users say: "We don't need miners, they are not loyal etc" - because the chat is filled with Znode (masternode) parasites who don't care if botnets provide the hashing power as long as they get their 15-30 coins per month without any effort (these people bought the coins when the value was like $1 or less per coin and now live off the dividents.)..

Why is zcoin a dead end?  Is it a bad project?

Thanks, this post is enough to get my hands off zcoin.

Wow that sounds bad for long term holding.

Mine and trade short term it's no worse profitability wise than zcash. Plus lower power.

Thanks for the explanation. Even with the issues it's had LUX sounds like a better project than that sheesh. I do have four zcoin wonder if I should trade it off.

Anyone can give me some good advice for 8x 1080ti ?  I stopped today with BWK because it begun very low price.. but, there is some good choice to mine? All coins profitability looks very low.. I was in doubt to start to forget about profitability and mine zcash or vertcoin because they could "surely" grow up value in the next future but also verge it sounded interesting..

I am very confused lately.. if you have some good advice, i would appreciate Smiley

thanks mates!
LUX maybe?
ZCL can pump up in a couple of days because of hardfork.

Lux wallet on Cryptopia has been down for few days.

Hello, I have a rig with thirteen 1080ti cards, I use the DSTM Miner, the Linux operating system Hive OS, without overclocking, only reduce power consumption 220W. I get ZCL equihash 11.20 ksol/s.

My recent x17 scores, don't know if it is good ...
Gtx 1080ti is running 80% tdp, hw monitoring data included to the pic, but they are fluctuating due to algo nature

According to my (quick) calculation, a 12 GPU rig will make around 20€ a day before electricity. Am I missing something?

So you find a hashrate difference depending on the cuda SDK you use to compile?

yes, for some cards and some algos. My compile gives 1-1.5 mhs boost for gtx1080ti in my tests but very tiny increase for gtx1070 (comparing to well-known cuda75 64-bit alexis built)

Hey all, I got a small mining setup (since mid Jan.) with 2 GPUs running DSTM. The MSI card (90% pwr) runs fine with no problem. Recently I begin to notice that the EVGA card is getting less and less stable unless I dial down the OC setting. Initially, I was running stable (24 hours+ up time) +120 core and +300 mem at 90% power and getting ~750 Sols/s but in the past week DSTM starts to crash and I would have to gradually reduce the OC setting for the EVGA card for it to run stable. I go back and forth on it in the past week battling with this card and now I can only reach stable mining at 90% with no OC at all (670 Sol/s). DSTM would crash immediately if I try to use the stock card setting.

Currently, the stable clock is ~1740 / 5000 mem (no OC at 90%)

Things I tried: -DDU and install fresh driver. -Fresh windows install. -Swap risers (bought a 6-pack) and switch between the PCIEX slots. -Using only the EVGA card (on riser or directly on MOBO). -Tried nicehash, EWBF, and bminer. None of these helped.

Any suggestions on what could be the problem? Any help appreciated! Thanks in advance!

~~~~~~~~~
OS: Windows 10 GPU: 1x EVGA 1080ti SC black. 1x MSI 1080ti gaming
PSU: EVGA 750 G3
Open air, using mobo graphic for display. Using MSI Afterburner. Both card temperature kept at mid 50s. Powering the risers using 6-pin directly connected to PSU.
try to use it at stock settings, try to use only evga with overclock, try to use another PSU. May be not enough power or may be badly overclocking card.
