ok guys. that's it. ALL the packing is done. now i just gotta spend a few hours at office depot and find an effcient way to get the international ones dealt with. the post office is just hell here, so i'm trying to avoid that like the plague... if office depot maintains their "we can't do international" then i'll go find a fedex office.

obviously, it being 6:30 am, there's nothing i can do until they open at ten.

Awesome, thanks arklan - I know this has been a lot of work.

IIRC, auto detection does not function properly under Windows. I might recommend setting up Ubuntu in a VM instead.

this does work perfectly (and driver works with windows 8 according to the website).  download from here - http://www.silabs.com/Support%20Documents/Software/CP210x_VCP_Windows.zip.  extract the ZIP to a directory.  do NOT run the exe/installer for the drive.  go into device manager after plugging it in and right click on the device and update driver and point it to the directory.  it will then load the driver just fine.

to mine on it i downloaded the 64 bit of bfgminer here - http://bfgminer.org/.  extract to a folder, open a command prompt and go to the directory and run "bfgminer -G -S all" and it will mine all day (you can create a bat file if you know how to do that).

i opened device manager clicked the device and installed the driver on my desktop. windows does detect the device but cgminer and bfgminer does not. the only thing i didnt do is the step below cause i dont know how to do that.

open a command prompt and go to the directory and run "bfgminer -G -S

i uninstalled the driver i installed with the exe. i restarted my computer. i opened device manager clicked the device and installed the driver on my desktop. windows does detect the device but cgminer and bfgminer does not. the only thing i didnt do is the step below cause i dont know how to do that.

i dont know much about windows 8, but if you can get to a run command box (maybe windows key + r) then you type "CMD".  this should bring up a command prompt window.  go to the directory that you extracted the bfgminer files to and run that command "bfgminer -G -S all".

alternatively, if you have 64-bit windows, you can download this file https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/23772269/USBMiner.zip, extract it to c:\usbminer (the zip file contains that directory, so dont create usbminer folder, just extract to the c:\).  once done go into that folder and run the bfgstart.bat.

i got the command window open but i dont know how to "go to" the directory with my bfg files from the command window.

i tried bfgminer -G -S all in the command window, it says bfg miner is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

i have bfgminer on my desktop.

i dont know how to do this part.....

start cgminer with the following arguments:
cgminer-nogpu.exe --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100 -S COMx
for more than one device: cgminer-nogpu.exe --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100 -S //./COMx -S //./COMy

i believe the problem was that you had > instead of \ after hustler.  try below and see if that works:

"C:\users\hustler\desktop\bfgminer-3.0.2-win64\bfgminer.exe -g -s all"

actually you prob have to have the capitalization correct.  thy the following:

"C:\users\hustler\desktop\bfgminer-3.0.2-win64\bfgminer.exe -G -S all"

so i tried running bfg miner twice. one for singles one for USB miners. when i had one USB plugged in it mined fine. i plugged in 10 and it would not mine. it was throwing up invalid nonce - HW error.

i dont know how to do this part.....

start cgminer with the following arguments:
cgminer-nogpu.exe --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100 -S COMx
for more than one device: cgminer-nogpu.exe --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100 -S //./COMx -S //./COMy

I'm using cgminer 3.1.1 and it worked on Windows 7 with instructions like the ones af_newbie provided.

Once I had downloaded and installed the driver (http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/Pages/USBtoUARTBridgeVCPDrivers.aspx), I plugged in the Erupters. After a moment, I could see my 4 miners in the device manager. I've never used Windows 8, but under Windows 7 my 4 Erupters come up as this:

Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge (COM3)
Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge (COM4)
Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge (COM5)
Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge (COM6)

Then using those com numbers, I created a shortcut on my desktop with the following target line:

C:\cgminer\cgminer-nogpu.exe -o http://pool:port -u username.worker -p password --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --icarus-timing 3.0=100 -S //./COM3 -S //./COM4 -S //./COM5 -S //./COM6

Works great. Hope this helps.
