Man, YAC is doing really well.  The official website (http://www.yacoin.org) looks amazing.

It is a template. It looks nice but YAC developer should really go for custom website design.

http://www.feathercoin.com/

Agreed.  They website needs further work.  The bounty was only 300 YAC.  I suggest someone create a new bounty and solicit someone to work more on the website, thus making it more distinguishable.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Gotta get binaries hosted somewhere other than mega.co.nz.

They should probably be hosted on yacoin.org with SHA digests published there and elsewhere.

My firewall has alerted me to connects to netne.net when I ran yacoin.

Sounds like the mega.co.nz binary has a trojan wallet stealer.. time activated?

If you downloaded anything from that scammer called limitless, that is probably the trojan.

Worried now.. which binary? The one located in the OP here: https://mega.co.nz/#!5wgDnKyZ!QLfWTXNRMRTwmb60rfpuFgzH48BCl4fpwb8paeAaqRs ?

Cos that's the one i'm using. What are the alternatives for Windows users?

I don't think it was him:
Code:
root@minermom:/opt/yacpuminer# grep -R 31.170.160.169 .
root@minermom:/opt/yacpuminer# grep -R netne .
root@minermom:/opt/yacpuminer# grep -R "31.170" .
root@minermom:/opt/yacpuminer# grep -R "bitcoin" .
./NEWS:  usage on upstream bitcoind / pool server.
./cpu-miner.c:  /* obtain new work from bitcoin via JSON-RPC */
./cpu-miner.c:  /* submit solution to bitcoin via JSON-RPC */
./README:       https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=55038.0
root@minermom:/opt/yacpuminer#

Not turning up any results in the source at https://github.com/ali1234/cpuminer. He could have tried disguising it more though.

People at saying it is the minerd.exe that is stealing the BTCs i didn't think there was a minerd.exe avalabe at the time of launch? i just mined with the yacoin-qt for the first day. so not sure what is going on.

need people to state what was the exact program they where using.

My bitcointalk account has been hacked and someone has been posting bullshit about Yacoin. I don't really know what to think of it.... I haven't had any Bitcoin stolen, I don't even have any on this PC!

Check 'my' recent posts....

Saw a cool article posted on another forum.  Investors will probably try to build technology and businesses around altcoins.

http://gordonbowman.com/post/50094010176/is-this-the-turning-point-for-bitcoin

Why not YaCoin?

I haven't lost anything... yet... But I have stopped the client from running for now.

I've got 49 YAC, which is the most of any coin i've ever accumulated, so i'm playing safe...

Banned in network firewall, just in case.

I normally run all clients in a sandbox anyway, just to be sure
