how you guys getting more connections? I only have 8....

open port 7688 on your router and forward it

I'm mining on 4 different PCs on the same LAN. How am I going to forward the port to all PCs? Is it possible to configure YaCoin to use a different port on each PC?

You only need to open the port on the computer which is hosting the client. Don't worry about forwarding the port for the mining computers, just the computer with the wallet.

Aha, so you DO have external mining programs!?!?!?! Caught with hand in cookie jar!

We peons only have the reference clients to mine for us, remember? The ones with wallets and mining code?

Hmm, behind someone else's firewall... opened port 7688 here, but that would just allow incoming/outgoing until it get's to the outside firewall, so still only 8 connections.  Any way to up the default connections?

I think it's because its just most complicated to mine and stuff. I know when it first came out a ton couldn't figure out how to run it.

Pretty sure default max connections is 125

Try -maxconnections= , I don't know if that will over-ride the 8 limit for nodes without incoming or not. So try the experiment and let us know whether it does or not.

( = some number, that is, not = whitespace character(s)).

I actually have 2 confirmed blocks out of 7 on my i3 2120 with 8 active connections. Jut opened port on my i7, hopefully I get more confirms and less orphans. And I started around 12:30am forum time so I came in pretty late too. There were already about 9000 blocks already when I started mining.

I have control over my firewall, so I didn't try it, but you could try giving him more than 8 explicit -addnode=x.y.z.a , perhaps that'd convince him?

-maxconnections=<n>    Maintain at most <n> connections to peers (default: 125)

Won't help him - outgoing is always at 8, maxconnections controls incoming connections.

8 plus addnodes then I think. The use lots of explicit addnodes idea seems likely to work.

-MarkM-

EDIT: Anyone selling lists of IPs of nodes to add? Tongue Cheesy

EDIT2: Then again maybe it won't work. I used to add all my localnet machines to each other's list and don't recall seeing them all have more than 8 connections accordingly. Darn.

LOL, what dude...?

Right now I am attempting to mine with pooler's cpuminer because it's to my understanding that gpu mining doesn't work...

I suppose I probably should have asked if cpuminer is still compatible or not (I don't know because I haven't found sh*t yet).

If my hand is in the cookie jar, it is an EMPTY cookie jar...

Yeah, it doesn't work.  I tried also using a SOCKS Proxy, but that essentially replaces the firewall gateway so it doesn't find a connection out.  Not sure if self-proxy would do anything different either, I'd be manipulating the port to send out on, but not sure if that changes the port the other clients use to connect back here.
