I grabbed a Vega 64 for test. (all claymore)

Eth mining 34mh stock with last AMD driver,
37mh with blockchain beta driver, and 41mh with simple OC.

less than 500h/s ZEC mining with last claymore.

Very noisy. Fan not under control.

The main issue with VEGA is that I can't do anything about voltage.
This is grayed in Afterburner.

I was thinking to set voltage in claymore, but I don't know the stock one. It doesn't appear in AB, and even gpu-z doesn't show it.
I don't know if this is because of Beta drivers or not.
If you have ideas, I can try !

When you say that you can't do anything about voltage in Afterburner, do you mean the power limit slider is grayed out as well?

Hopefully we will have an updated Afterburner and GPU miners updated as well to support Vega sometime soon (maybe next month?).

i agree, 280/290 are making more sense, if you have chea electricity, otherwise 10XX SERIES.
Nvidia may actually pull the trigger on Christmas with Volta and if AMD will not have any response they will fall 2 gens behind.... doh!
I lost my hope for VEGA completely by now.
Our most popular pc part store had like 5 cards total since they went on sale, this is retarded, curious why amd did not start collecting prepaid orders ahead of time, war on miners sounds like bs to me.

500h/s zec is epic fail for vega, did claymore even updated miners for vega at all? Even 41mh on ETH is not worth it. Everything below 60mh is a failure in my opinion.

This is madness. Prepare yourself miners, winter is here!

570 are still the best for ROI.

But seems VEGA still not have been good support(driver/software),
I hope that card can mine faster, at least the same hastrate/W of 580.

Power limit is not grayed , just voltage.
But you have to put power limit at maximum +50 for maximum hashrate. It set max temp to 85°c
Stock powerlimit (+0) is 35°c maximum and deliver 25mh/s instead of 41.
I think all that mess is due to driver beta.

I am getting a steady 33-35 Mh/s with 1Gh/s on DCR using 17.8.1 drivers and claymore

Turbo setting in Wattman sets the following
power limit - +15%
temp - 85
Core - 1500
Mem - 1000

with conf set to core-1500 and mem-1000

havent had time to mess with it - just downloaded beta AB to have a look

In AB core bouncing all over the place 1200-1500

if core is bouncing, than you need to raise your power limit. Or lower gpu core clocks.

Changed a few things

new power limit: -20

32MH/s and 1250 MH/s

temp steady at 70C with fans at 63%

the beta mining drivers for some reason dont work for me - it installs correctly but after reboot screen comes on fine then goes into snow like old TV's and machine reboots

I'll pass on this. At some point I'll build one of those 32 GP rigs with my own custom case and have some fun with it but probably not with the Vegas.

There's plenty of people tinkering with Vega. It still has potential.

I switched back over to the 8/23 beta mining drivers. Current stats -
ETH Only - +50 power. 1137 core/p900. 1000 mem/p900 - making 39.5 mh/s ETH @ 303 watts - total system power. Avg. 1 minute ETH = 35.5 mh/s

Dual Mine - +50 power. 1137 core/p900. 1000 mem/p900 - making 39 mh/s ETH and 2700 mh/s DCR @ 424 watts - total system power. Avg. 1 minute ETH = 33 mh/s

Definitely still has some driver and power management issues

That efficiency is worse than my R 390.

how's that efficient.  My rx 580 armor oc 4gb do 30.5 Mh/s @ 100w

Yeah I see the 56 up for sale on newegg.  It is out of stock though - but much cheaper price.  I wonder if they will sell it in the bundles or have stock to sell for just the gpu

Why are you guys even considering these cards? I am really trying to understand it when you can just buy a gtx 1070 or rx580 and get 30mh at half the power draw

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.
