Of course you need to go to school in order for you to learn more about life. You will learn a lot of things when you attend in school. You can earn knowledge which you can use as reference when you are already in the corporate world. Aside from that, you should go to school because you will gain some friends.

Hi everyone,

What advice would you give a HS senior in US about to decide on and/or enter college ?
I don't know if my advise would help you because i don't live US, just want to say go to college study hard and get a degree. A degree increases chances of having better job from where i live, also more knowledge means better performance but it truly depends on what you can do. If financial problem bothers you. you can get a Scholarship.

Your advice is correct.  As long as you are young and have the chance to study then go to college.  Many people especially here in my country do not and was not able to finish college and that is one of the reason why many are unempoyed.  Those unemployed of course needs a job. They find jobs on factoried but it is only for a moment.  Then they will become unemployed again and when they aged and have no business, they will struggle.  Then when no one have to eat then crime will start.  So basically just go to college and have a degree.

I also agree with you. The college will give you a good chance to find a job. And you will get new knowledge and understanding of some important things. College will teach you many specific knowledge that will help you in your work

You should probably go to college, just don't overpay (: only go instate, ignore private schools unless offered scholarships, and take federal aid. Drop out the moment you're offered a solid job, the fancy paper itself isn't really worth anything (unless you need to do Masters/Phd).

Look into the eyes.

yes off course you can go to college. I think study has no age. there is many opportunity to a degree holders. I have a uncle he is 45 years old he also go to college now because he knows the importance of study.

wish that i would too..but i still got more responsibilities to do
maybe if i am able to save up some money i would definitely go back to college
I m 26 and it feels like lifes going faster
its hard to get a decent paying job without a degree
What is your skill-set, or what field are you in? There are ways to get very well paying jobs in tech if that's your jam. If not I would be looking into self-employment as a side-gig and try to scale that up over time. College (at least in the US) is not worth it based on your age and financial situation.

Im an undergraduate in secondary education and i had issues back then when no one can support my education..so i chose to work instead in a electronics factory not far from my home.. 8 hours a day 6 days a week, roughly 1USD an hour. i really wanted to be a history teacher cause i love reading books about history especially military history. As with skills i dont really know but i had went to tech school for training in basic electronics.

Go to a cheap undergrad college, state not private. If you want live at home and pay almost nothing. If you decide later in life to go back to school you can go to programs that actually mean something.

Going to college is not the measure of success, it is how you manage to succeed in life. However, it is up to your reasons why you can't go to college, because still education is very important for self growth. If your reason is financial because education is expensive then you may have other options of how to get success without earning a degree, if you can afford the college education, I think you have to weigh and see in yourself the importance of having it  for yourself. At the end of the day, it is your decisions that will define of who you will become.

Yeah i know that but Americans gaining a loan in college is big problem Sad Sad

I'm not lucky
This is the issue, if you cannot go to college without getting into debt, then I suggest to you that you find a job for a year, save every single penny and see if now you can attend the cheapest college that you can, get a useful degree something that has job prospect and keep working in your free time, maybe even earning bitcoin, and get a job during your vacations, if you do that you will have low or no debt and will be ready to make your life a success.

A masters degree may be useful later in the life, although I don't agree wasting 5-6 years of your life in trying to get a PhD degree (unless you are really crazy about scientific research).

Hi everyone,

What advice would you give a HS senior in US about to decide on and/or enter college ?

Yes, college can help, and is a great experience, and you can meet fantastic people and so on, but then again we all know those very famous stories of those very famous dropouts who went on to do great things without college. It is all up to you  but college is a good tool for improvement and success.

There are a few fields where a PhD is mandatory to score a job. There are also jobs where a PhD is definitely worth it from a financial perspective, as it increases the starting salaries dramatically.

I have experience of studying in college. And I can say that if you do not want it yourself - it will not do for you any good. Follow the heart, although it sounds trite, but this is the right way. Because today you can become rich and successful without a degree. And entering the college gives you no guarantee that you will be successful. Do what you want.

One of the most cited statistics that emphasizes the benefits of a college education is that, on average, a person with a bachelor’s degree will earn almost $1 million more over the course of her lifetime than somebody with just a high school diploma. That's why you should go to college.

During their high school career, students may begin to question the importance of a college education. ...
The answer is that, more than ever, attending college provides opportunities for graduates which are not as widespread to those who have not received a higher education.

I believe that everything depends on what goals you set for yourself. If you want to work in a company, then you need to go to school, and if you want to do business, then do not waste time.
