EDUCATION is very complicated topic. There many rich people around who did not get any form of formal education. But the percentage is negligible compared to the number of people with formal education and living good lives. Considering sports personalities, many did not get any formal education but are very rich. This is rather tempting to ditch schooling and doing something else that will make you enough money. Only the gifted, talented and lucky ones make it without schooling. Since the future cannot be certainly predicted, it is better to take up education just to get some security in future in the midst of the high levels of unemployment. It'll be a very strong decision to ditch schooling for an informal career to make money in future. Consider the wits and cons and make the best choice.

Hi everyone,
What advice would you give a HS senior in US about to decide on and/or enter college ?
Going to college will get you far in the future. Getting a job is a little difficult nowadays, getting a degree before applying for a job will take you step ahead of your competitors. Companies would usually look at your educational attainment and skills.

Don't think like you are like Marc Zuckerburg and others that did not have college degree and became successful and treat them as an inspiration that you don't need to go to college. They have unique qualities that not all the people have and going to college is still better.

Hi everyone,

Going to college is still your choice and no one can dictate your destiny but only you. Since you have the opportunity and all the resources you needed, I suggest you must go to college. It is different if you have the diploma hanging in your house. It is something that you can always be proud of. It is something that you can always have for the rest of your life.

Zuckerberg may not have multiple college degrees, but he got his education from premier institutions such as the Ardsley High School and the Phillips Exeter Academy. He started software development when he was in middle school. He attended the New York Mercy College (part time) while he was still in the high school. And after his school years, he attended the Harvard University.

If you are skilled person and your interest to go to school is none, better to focus to your skill than go to school with the absence of interest. I think it's a waste of time, you will never learn than put your focus on your skill.

You should go to college and earn a degree. That's the only thing that can't be stolen from you. It will widen your connections in the society and you can find a decent job. And mostly, it will help to improve your life.

Any school is yet very important because there are imparted knowledge and experiences by the professors and students, unless someone is self-taught and have different learning techniques.

There are so many diverse advices, every second post seems different yet it is all the same. This is a thing that shouldn't be suggested or asked for an opinion. You should do what you want and it depends on how hard you want it. There are a lot of limitations, you hardly can advance without a degree in most jobs. Tho you can be successful as an entrepreneur if you start on your own in some countries. This is a thing you have to do research on. Just an example: A person i know has their own company...had to go to college at the age of 42 to "work" in his own firm.

Hi everyone,

You should, as you know, finding a job nowadays is difficult. Companies are looking for a good educational background and job experience when looking for employees. You should be competitive enough for you to land a good job in the future. Having a degree would take you far in the future.

I don't suggest it. I would do something more temporary. Unless you can get free college tuition.

You should. Graduating from college is another career that will help you to prepare for your future. Though there are a lot of ways to earn money not by just having a day job. Actually, even I am now earning, I do not want to give up my day job. Because being a professional is my passion. And I love being it. Part of my career is already part of me. Before you go to college, determine first what you want to be in the future. Time is running.
