I believe that they're popular mainly because well it was the first of all cryptocurrencies to be made. Honestly most of the other coins are scams and greedy ways that the developers make money. The only other coin I can think of that isn't a scam are dogecoins! What do you think?

Well if you'll think of it that ay, bitcoin is popular because it's been the oldest of all crypto coin so it is only normal that most community have already known it which makes it that popular which unlike other coin that has only been released like a year or two. There is ETH which is showing potential to be popular yet it is not a coin. Bitcoin provides a lot of opportunity to both young and adults in the community so it is only normal for people to spread word about something where they can all benefit. |

You're right. One of the reasons why is it's the most popular is because it is the first ever cryptocurrency. Also because it took time before altcoins emerged, that's why for a long time Bitcoin has the spotlight, getting all the media attention. But it's slowly changing now as altcoins are getting better and better. |

I think that all crypto currencies are the only way to unite people by a common idea. Bitcoin was the first crypto currency so it is more popular. If we do not see the constant evolution of coins and it will be a bubble. If this happens then all crypto will crash.

Because Bitcoin already has established infrastructure. There are sites, companies and merchants who accepted Bitcoin, big exchanges, local exchanges in almost every country, lots of people who accept it or willing to spend. Now, if you take some altcoin, you will have a very hard time exchanging it for your local currency or finding a place where you can spend it. The reason for this is because people don't see any need to work with altcoins if Bitcoin works just fine. |

Doge coin was (is?) actually a joke coin where the developers made it just for fun. The coin ended up surviving till today thanks to the active community and the developers. I believe that they're popular mainly because well it was the first of all cryptocurrencies to be made.

Well if you'll think of it that ay, bitcoin is popular because it's been the oldest of all crypto coin so it is only normal that most community have already known it which makes it that popular which unlike other coin that has only been released like a year or two. Bitcoin provides a lot of opportunity to both young and adults in the community so it is only normal for people to spread word about something where they can all benefit. Exactly, bitcoin is the oldest so definitely it has already itself. And now people are going into bitcoin because the price really surge in the last couple or years or so. While others try to catch up with bitcoin, however the hype on that coin died down and we didn't see the so called flippening. And more people are also learning how to earn bitcoin through trading and investment portfolio as well. So I guess bitcoin will remain the most popular crypto of all time. |

You answered your own question. There's more to it, I think, since there are other altcoins which gained some popularity right after Bitcoin was first released. The difference is that they still lack the infrastructure around them, they have almost no merchants accepting them outside of the crypto-sphere. You could say that Bitcoin is slowly losing its dominance, especially when you look at the market cap of Bitcoin vs altcoins (ETH), but that has more to do with speculation than anything else imo. |

The first mover advantage can be very strong, especially early in the life cycle of a new technology.
The thing is though, that in more than half of innovations it is not the first mover that comes out ahead.

Bitcoin is 100% the most popular crypto because it was made before any other crypto had been developed (in the same way that Bitcoin was developed), if Bitcoin was to come out now it would be tossed aside because there would either be a coin that is more popular than it, and/or coins would have way better technology than Bitcoin and then there would simply be no reason to use Bitcoin. To be completely fair, Bitcoin is great for what it does and my only issue is the fee/blocksize right now. |

it's the most trusted , we saw many coins come and go so it's hard to trust a cryptocurrency
but since bitcoin has always been the first in market that's why it's so popular imo and that's why most fiat sites that accept crypto accept mainly bitcoin
other coins technology is now better , but you can't trust all the coins

It seems that you already know the answer and you already answered your own question but just like to add up that many other crypto currency that is worth using for aside from bitcoin it's just bitcoin is the pioneer in this crypto currency world that is why it is so mainstream and it is the trademark of digital currency. Many other coins offer more a lot of choices than bitcoin and much more cheaper and faster in sending transactions and there are also a lot of trust worthy crypto coins not only btc and doge. |

It is only because it is the main cryptocurrency that we have and bitcoin existed 6 years ago I think. And it takes a huge role on us. It became the first cryptocurrency and that makes it the main cryptocurrency. That's the most common cryptocurrency that is use on almost all transactions.

I am sure the first thing that has made bitcoin popular is its value. The trend at which the value has stepped up over the years has made most newbies to start getting interested not just only in bitcoins but even other altcoins they can lay their hands on.
Secondly, bitcoin has been able to stand the test of time and I am sure it is gonna be unshakeable until we reach the moon. The recent adoption by most countries will definitely take it there.
Lastly, it remains the crypto king and the last time I checked kings are always popular in their world. It is the first and it ushered the way in for the birth of other cryptocurrencies, so there is no debate on why it shouldn't even be popular in the first place.

Yes the fact that Bitcoin is the first successful crypto currency is one from many reasons making Bitcoin the most popular cryptocurrency actually. But in addition there is many powerful features of Bitcoin, including its highly increasing price and its promising potential. |

Bitcoin is the most popular of all the digital currencies because it is the first of them all. Without bitcoin, I don't think that there will be an emerging digital currency. Also, as the first and original digital currency, it has the highest price of them all, so the tedency of the users are to be attracted to it because it has the most price. |

Bitcoin was the first, and this is making its unique, back in the day we have no idea how bitcoin will scale or even if this experiment will ever reach out to masses.
There was a serious possibility that Bitcoin will remain some kind of nerd project and toy for bored geeks. Additionally, bitcoin wasn't created for the one purpose - to earn money with it.
It was created to change the name of the game, I am sure that some of you remember that in 2008 we had a huge economic crisis.
Bitcoin has been released year after and it is an attempt to fight back, a way to combat banks and rotten centralised economy.
