https://news.bitcoin.com/bitfinex-drops-us-customers/

for real???

Anyone here has accounts at Bitfinex?

I was robbed by them last year along with many others.

Most likely this is the end game for tha coins they claim were stolen last year.

I have a very small amount sitting there I should look for them on sat.

... Get that skinny guy from Big Bang Theory  to do a new intel commercial with people getting money back by mining.

They should make a full episode on mining with Sheldon explaining blockchain to Penny and debating Nvidia vs AMD to death.

Yeah sorry - you guys are right.  I should have been a little more clear in my statement.  I'm more comfortable with Windows being able to connect to rigs via RDP is very helpful for me personally.  I connect to a middle box, and then from that box RDP into my rigs.  I'm able to restart from anywhere in the world where I have cell service if claymore or ccminer crashes, and watchedog doesnt restart for whatever reason.

I tried RDP but it causes one of my GPUs to lose overclock.
Anyone having the same problem? Solution maybe?
VNC plays nice, but GUI is not so responsive as when using RDP.
Thanks.

Regarding Windows, if you can get your hands on LTSB version, go for it.
Crap-free and receives only security upgrades.
I also disable Windows Defender on all my rigs and set Windows Update to notify-only when new upgrades are available. Winaero Tweaker utility is godsend for fast and easy tweaking such things.
I think that disabling updates is highly not recommended in this day and age.

The impact of RDP on GPU0 performance is proportional to the screen size you are using. Try to limit the client area to 1280x1024 or even smaller and you will see the difference. When I connect in full 4K size, GPU0 slows to a crawl.

I think that the real solution to the GPU0 slowdown problem is not to use it at all as primary display and leverage integrated GPU instead. It really depends on iGPU implementation in particular motherboard model, its BIOS and Intel graphics drivers. I haven't had time to come up with good solution yet because my motherboards (Asus Z270) are disabling iGPU when monitor is not connected during POST. Maybe need to try that display emulator plug...

Phil - did you manage to stick in a few USB risers in the mobo?

Couldnt help myself but I cashed out a few coins when BTC hit 3990$

If I provided you good and useful info or just a smile to your day, consider sending me merit points to further validate this Bitcointalk account ~ useful for future account recovery...

I would go linux on my rigs, but from my understandings is that you cant run ccminer on linux or am i thinking that wrong? i use currently 6 different versions of ccminer on my rigs for when i switch coins.

ccminer compiles and runs fine on linux.

Hey Phillip,

Good job on getting that system up and running are you able to view the display on the riser? i have never attempted this on any of my rigs, i just pre-install team viewer and log in to work on them. If i can connect via the riser that may be something worth looking into...

Could you give me some pointers on CPU mining, i have never tried it but currently have a Ryzen 7 1700 on my main personal rig that back in the day when i did benchmarking on nicehash miner it gave me a rating of 0.670 on cryptoknight, roughly $1.17/day was curious if this is pretty decent or not, i have never actually tried mining with it, because i dont want to turn this PC into something useless to be able to use during the day, since most of the day im on my PC performing my real estate task daily as well now dabbling in crypto trading. Is there a way to specify which cores on the CPU to mine with only?

I also have 6 rigs that control 4 x 1080ti's each that all have Xeon E5540's, they typically stay under 10% cpu usage i noticed while mining... i dont know if i can mine with them as they are on stock DELL coolers

Really, hmm i wander if there is any benefit putting linux on my rigs with only 4 gpu's each, most of them are extremely reliable as long as i keep the temps down, i found when i push them over 70c the reliability starts to suffer... so i have my fan speeds setup to maintain around 65c temps even at the hottest part of the day now.. suffered a tiny bit on hashrates, but i have had far less issues with them since these changes.

Hi Phil,

Wondering how loud those server PSUs are? Are they on full tilt all the time or do they throttle down if they're at lower loads?

You'd need a sizeable chunk of hashrate to make solo mining worthwhile on SIGT right now. Although difficulty does fluctuate a lot so maybe I'm wrong.

I have moved on to BTX...

@jimmykl - at 700-800w they are just humming.. but those small fans will scream when you hit 1000w.

Thanks @citronick, I might get one as a test since decently priced higher power PSUs are out of stock in my region at the moment
