Coinplorer is probably based on ABE, which directly reads the block chain file. For the most part that is a disadvantage over an explorer like the software I wrote for CCE3 which gets its information directly from the coin daemon. In this one special instance where the coin daemon for some reason is having a problem with its own database, it becomes an advantage. In the future I might have to incorporate a ABE like method for directly reading the block chain file in these types of situations, but in all honesty, this should not be happening.

Not entirely sure, looks like someone mined an invalid block and some clients let it through, others didnt. Or could of been a deliberate attack.
