IMO you should invest to eth because btc price already climbed to highest level of history.Dont forget to hold your investment on hard wallets  at least for 3 years. Better to keep your private keys away from computers and do every transfer on clean pc Wink

3 Ethereum and all other money should go to bitcoin. Also you should share more to litecoin and probably Lisk as well. Good coins will always win.

You do not necessarily  need to use hard wallets to keep your coins safe, that is a good option but it is not the only option, for those that cannot afford it they can as easily just install a light weight wallet in a computer with a Linux distribution that has been verified and that has not been tampered it, if you store that in cod storage then you can easily maintain your bitcoin in a very secure way.

With $3000 to invest, is there any advantages to either, with the expectations/hopes that they both will continue to grow?  Just trying to see what others would do, as I plan to let this initial investment sit for 5yrs minimum in a cold wallet.

Thanks ladies and gents!

If i invest 3k$ i put it all in bitcoin why bitcoin is a major of cryptocurrency his no.1 in crypto.. No one other to stop price of bitcoin... If u check the price of bitcoin was 2009 is only .08$ now 2017 is 4k$ so i think after the 2017 will pump it again if u hold in 5yrs i think 100k$ per bitcoin in 2022.. Gudluck

Bitcoin is the main Crypto-Currency, the best one. Some people like to invest in ETH or diversify funds among different currencies, but I personally would prefer for now to put all my tickets in BTC. The price will probably increase a lot in few months (who knows, maybe 50%-100%), I'm not sure if ETH has the same potential... I don't think so.

1 BTC worth much more than 10 or even 100 ETH.  Cheesy

Especially because you want to put it into a cold wallet for at least 5 years, BTC potential is huge on long term.
I think ETH will grow rapidly in the future Maybe 3000$. Bitcoin is being at the top price so i don't believe we can take profit in it anymore. In conclusion, I prefer ETH to BTC

It will be different depend on how long you want to hold it.
I will buy ethereum if its price within $185-$250 as steady price for eth around $280-$350, buy low and sell immediately when it reach $350, just for short term. If you want to hold it for long term, 5 years, bitcoin is the best option I guess, due to its price could grow 200%-400% per year, then it may be 1000% increases in 5 years later.

If the current price of $ 4k bitcoin I do not dare to invest at a high price
But as you say better buy eth now for $ 296 and sell it at $ 400 because it's time for eth to rise in late August

Yeah exactly, it's better to choose ethereum for n9w because as it's stated in coinmarketcap.com ETHEREUM have big market cap now and still increasing it's market cap, so there's a chance that it can be $1000 per ETH. It can but in the right day maybe

now of course BTC.for 1 btc,you can get 10+ ETH
Only a fool can give up on bitcoins for eths. How can one choose gold over diamond ?
Eth is not capable of producing the profits that are quite easily exhibited by bitcoins. At the moment, there is no chance that a prudent investor will leave bitcoins for eths. For just 1 bitcoin, you can hold more than 20 eths easily and even more.

You'd probably have higher chances of turning a bigger profit with 10 ETH. I'd say go all in ETH. Especially now that BTC just finished its mega pump to $4.5k. Its ETH time.

What a wrong comment. You say you're not sure if ETH has the potential. How about the price rally that ETH made between $15 and $250 within only couple of weeks. ETH has more potential than bitcoin. For the question, ETH can't pass 1:7 ratio with bitcoin. This means 7 ETH can be equal to 1 bitcoin, but no more. This is my personal calculation. Now 12-13 ETH is 1 BTC.

What about this?
I would choose 1 BTC and exchange it for 12 ETH. After that i would join a few good icos with my 12 ethereum.
There are pretty good icos with much more potential than btc or eth. Why would i loose time with oldstyle currencies?

I think both of them will give a promising advantage, especially if you intend to invest in a long time, but if I were you I would choose 1 BTC rather than 10 eth. Because 1 BTC is more than 10 Eth. Indeed this is piihan that difficult for you, but conbalah to make a choice.  Wink

there will be big icos in september with eth. so, eth will pump like june. it can go to 500 dollars in the end of the year. and there is a dump sprculation in btc in november because of segwit.

so, i choose 10 eth.
